Palkia can be very scary with Dragon Cheer. The ability to spam Spacial Rend while holding an item or Draco Meteors with *those* stats and typing can't be ignored. I'd probably experiment with how Palkia can differentiate itself from the other Water Dragons with Trick Room.
I can see this working well with gyarados, which can also give you intimidate, taunt, and thunder wave or helping hand. Critting will also ignore the SpAtk drop from draco meteor, which is terrifying
Im a giratina player and I think your takes on it are pretty good, I use both grimmsnarl and ogerpon-W to slow down the game and its pretty good. My team is built around para and burns with thunder wave grimmsnarl and sacred fire entei which Its such a good pokemon because it threatens every physical restricted that used clear amulet because of the burn. I also have hex in my giratina to buff its mediocre dmg output and it kinda pays off, being able to 2 shot a raging bolt of statused and oneshotting flutter mane. That being said giratina is very reliant on tera and kinda fears incineroar knock off, which is the reason I have galarian zapdos to counter that too :]
For Rayquaza I’ve been having really good luck with Gouging fire. Howl/Swords dance set ups plus turning off weather actually feels better than I expected.
With zamazenta, one of the partners that i really love with it has to be chien pao when it comes to offense. Ever since regulation D, really grew to like the combination of having an IDBP mon + chien pao on a team. It essentially functions like any traditional strong physical attacker + pao but you now have a physical attacker that is unbothered by intimidate similar to the inner focus/defiant mons and with sword of ruin active, these IDBP mons can clean up teams faster as they don’t need to set up as much and sword of ruin does not reduce the power of body press (tablets of ruin does however). Chien pao may make the IDBP mon take more damage from physical hits but the iron defense offsets that con and u generally have a net positive with the duo. I had many games where i just used pao and zama to start spamming attacks vs teams with dauntless shield functioning as a pseudo choice band and it really catches ppl off guard
Fast dragon Pokemon with Dragon Cheer to grant restricted dragon Pokemon boosted critical ratio. If the restricted held Scope Lens you'll have always critical hit restricted dragon Pokemon
For Kyogre i think Archaludon + Tornadus + Landorus + Tsareena is a really good core for Kyogre as it patches up most issues and abuses the strengths better For Koraidon i found that Chi-Yu + Flutter Mane and Raging Bolt are great partners for Koraidon as it deals with Rain and Chi-Yu + Flutter mane in Sun can be really hard to take down quick enough to not get swept For Zekrom (surprisingly i am a Zekrom main) i found that Amoonguss + Incineroar + Rillaboom + Pelipper are great partners for it, Chien Pao is good with Zekrom but it only allows it to pick up insane KOs and doesn't help it set up that much Honestly i find success with those 3 cores and i really like them, they feel nice to pilot, now if only the PS! servers weren't down
I think a lot of people don't anticipate it! I've been able to snipe so many Incin or other Fire types with Meat Beam (sorry Ho-Oh) then Sludge Bomb and Flamethrower are just great coverage It's Glimmora but better truly
Regarding not being able to resist both Flutter Mane's Fairy attack and Groudon's Ground Attack: You cannot resist both but Bronzong, Skarmory, Corviknight (and Celesteela) resist Flutter's attack and are immune to Groudon's which is arguably better
I feel like Kyurem Black's best partner wouldn't be any of the Ogerpon. A natural weakness to intimidate makes things harder and while the redirection is nice I don't think Ogerpon really helps Kyurem Black in anyway if your sole goal is to get off Dragon Dance. It feels like a mon where you need to really position carefully if you want to bring out KB's true potential. I myself was trying Gouging Fire at first and while it was fine, it also lacked a lot to really help Kyurem Black. Howl + DD does make a nice combo but it also doesn't really give KB any openings either. I feel like with Dragon Dance as well it's not really the attack you're looking for but the speed it gives, with how many fast pokemon we got I feel like the speed boost dragon dance gives is something people are really underrating because they're focusing on KB's giant attack stat and making it bigger. Don't get me wrong, objectively the attack boost is good, but I feel if your goal is to just buff KB's attack things won't really hold. I've been thinking about Tornadus to buff Kyurem Black's speed, but it's still kinda iffy. Dragon Dance does help you outspeed a lot of the other Restricteds in the format but mons like Calyrex-Shadow or Miraidon's if they invest fully into speed, but even then they can save some EVs for other stats too and still outspeed one dragon dance without a problem. There is the choice to go for a second one, but if you to Tornadus to tailwind and help speed up KB then you're a lot more comfortable with where you are, you don't even need to Dragon Dance to outspeed something like Calyrex-Shadow or Miraidon, and to add onto it you can one shot a lot of mons in the current format with just base KB's attack stat. albiet Dragon Dance does help with stuff like Shadow Rider as that's still pretty dang bulky. Over all thought you deal with a lot of restricted's pretty well. Still I don't know if that in of itself is enough either. IDK I'm just rambling but I feel like KB just doesn't have the right partner that does what KB needs yet, Ogerpon and Tornadus are really good but I feel like there are core aspects KB wants that they just do not have. Kyurem White I agree with tho Alolan Ninetales is insane, only a matter of time until someone breaks Kyurem White with how insane ice is this gen with snow and everything else.
It didn’t come off as rambling, don’t worry. Given how diverse and complex VGC is, it’s actually quite necessary to discuss every single factor behind using individual mons, especially the more niche ones like Kyurem-B. Back on topic, though, I don’t really see KB teams being very effective if the priority is supporting KB. It’s just not that good of a restricted to warrant that. Instead, I see it the other way around: KB can support other pokemon by one-shotting focus sash users. Sweepers would benefit a lot from this since they wouldn’t have to worry as much about losing momentum, although we don’t have a lot of good unrestricted sweepers. I feel like, in the future, Reg H would allow KB to support restricted sweepers effectively.
should've shown EV spread for some of them, btw, like Terapagos or Eternatus. a fun build for Eternatus is a fast bulky set that spams Cosmic Power and Recover, which makes it a stall mon for VGC, it burns your PPs with pressure and can stall out a match entirely if used correctly.
Yeh I didn’t want to show ev spreads since I am going to do individual guides with all of the restricteds in separate videos coming up. And yeh eternatus can win games after a few cosmic powers, it can be pretty annoying to deal with
Ditto has always been good in restricted formats, since having another restricted available if you can plan out what you copy is really strong. It’s a bit weirder with Tera types I’ve noticed, but it’s still strong. In terms of what restricted to pair it with, I don’t know if there’s 1 correct answer, it’s a Pokémon that is tough to be build around, but can close out 5 Mon cores very nicely. Given your main targets to copy are calyrex-shadow, I could see it pairing nicely with anything that struggles with that mon, like a Groudon or even a calyrex-ice team
@@SableyeVGC I've seen it on several Kyurem-white teams, and I'm not sure the thought process behind that, if there is one. I've also found myself going up against tera normal caly-S, and losing to that, so maybe bringing an urshifu might solve that
Sleeper pick for zacian is perzerker. Boost bahemeth bash plus fake out/helping hand. He lets zacian set up sd easier while boosting him back to pre nerf power levels
Also Mewtwo should be seen more like mew. His move pool is super deep and wt tera he can be a hidden threat. Tera fly and spam hurican/ thunder, tera grass and spam solar beam/fire blast just to name a few.
The main problem with mewtwo, is the fact that it is tough to justify using over another restricted, you only get 1 slot and there are just much better mons than mewtwo available. Its not a bad mon it just doesn’t do enough to justify the trade off
lol i played a Zacian Perrserker team last night. my Hearthflame survived on 3 hp though so it was gg after that. but as someone who ran Gholdengo Perrserker a few regs back i appreciated the attempt
Zacian has been really strong for me on urshi-water/incin/rilla with raging bolt and flutter mane, but honestly any restricted would do well with those five
Yeh it would be pretty strong, my only issue with using gravity on bronzong is you do take away your own levitate, which may become a bit annoying in some cases.
Imagine you did this on April fools and just put incin next to every single mon lol
LOL
That would not even be a joke, unfort :')
Last one would be Incin next to eviolite torracat
Hear me out: Groudon + Sableye with Prankster Gravity or SpeedBooster Sandy Shocks, to make your Precipice Blades accurate and hit Flying mons 😂
Gravity + Groudon is always strong, bonus points for saying Sableye 🤣
Sandy shocks gets proto from sun, so shocks has more options to throw hands.
🤯
