I was not their when this special song was made. However each time I listen to it I feel connected to the song - I mean it takes me back into old time. Who else is still listening with me even in 2022?
I was privileged to see Lazarous Tembo a couple of times in Chelstone as he would come to visit his friend who was our neighbor (Mr Nchenjele), and we grew up listening to this song. It's a great feeling.
So many memories. Reminds me of the poverty days in Chabanyama back in the copper-belt. My mom used to sing it to my young sister until she slept on the days when we couldn't afford supper. She would sing Lazarus' part and we would sing Kola's part. We were hungry but extremely happy. Money can't buy happiness chachine
Thank you, Kasongo! It brings back childhood memories! My dad loved the great Lazarus Tembo's songs. I remember him playing the LP on our record player. My siblings and I would try to sing like Kola, while my father would take up aTembo's part of the song... he had a beautiful voice, too (MHSRIEP ❤), and mum would look on in amusement. Night made! 😊 May the Lord be praised! Long Live Zambia!
Oh lovely, my son just send the link to me. Good memories , we could be listening to this song almost everyday. With my late brother Robert . May his soul rest in peace
Nostalgia- Its Fathers day this week! In Chicago USA so far away from home- Yet back in the dim light of my past - singing my heart away and laughing like Kola with my daddy singing along- Priceless memories. Thanks Lazarus-RIP Dad and Lazarus! Forever yours!
All along a thought the song was sang by a Malawian..... It's only today 05 September, 2024 that I have known that it was done by a Zambian..... Good old memories!
I also want whatever they were smoking when recording this childhood hit😂... I still remember it on radio mum used to join me dance to it but not sure if it was on radio 4, 2 or radio chengelo but it was once my favourite tune 😂😂

The calm, rich, baritone of Lazarus Tembo still lingers on; long live cousin. I wish you had bequeathed your singing gift to a few more Easterners....
