We lost contact with our rebel daughter for years. We didn't know where she was. The only thing we knew was that she was a drug addict and that she had surrounded herself with some horrible, horrible people. I found out that later during that time in her life some really bad things happened and were done to her. She was a very attractive young female so you know what happened to her. We couldn't reach her during those days. There were two songs that still gets to me to this day: "Let her go" by Hootie and the Blowfish and my god...this song perfectly sums up. "She'll tell you she's an orphan/after you meet her family". "She gives a smile when the pain comes/pains going to make everything alright". She keeps them shades down tight (her eyes closed). She ended up being a fugitive from the law and was on the run from the law. She eventually got caught driving a stolen car on her way to California. She got caught with two really horrible men. She was put in chains and driven back to Texas. She went to Prison. At least we finally knew where she was. We got the call saying she was getting out. We dropped everything and drove to Corpus to get her and bring her home. We got our daughter back. Now she's clean. Just saying...this song still kills me every time I hear it.

Thanks so much for this production, I really enjoy hearing the backstory of many of these timeless songs. You do a commendable job bringing the songs to life and telling the stories. I especially enjoyed this video being a lifelong fan of The Black Crowes. You earned a subscriber and a definite fan of your work. I look forward to watching all your videos, thank you so much Janda.

Another home run! Loved this episode. She Talks to Angels time stamps the time in my life I decided that first chance I'm moving to the Carolinas when everything in NY felt like it was crashing down around me. "Seeing Things" is another great song from that album that time stamps the moment I realized that I was the only one being faithful in my relationship (part of the things crashing down around me).
Fun memory of the band. I was attending SummerFest in Charlotte, NC in I believe 2001. A buddy was working the event and The Black Crowes were one of the many acts that weekend. I was backstage before the Black Crowes and was briefly introduced to the band along with Kate Hudson, Jack Black, and Gwynneth Paltrow who were in Charlotte filming, "Shallow Hal"

one of my favorite songs, still to this day. I went through 3 tapes, who ever knew you can wear out a tape from playing to much. You can not wear out MP3's now
