      @@GreatDayForAHike Hi, I have a little question. I've watched your tutorial video and tried to combine my 4K GoPro videos, but there is a problem. When I try to render my videos and when I try to render the finished video it says that it is going to take about 5 to 8 hours until it finishes rendering. What can I do to fix this ? Why does it just takes 5 minutes in your video and for me about 5 to 8 hours ? Please help me.

      @@superalex9318 For the most part two things are going to govern how long it will take to render. First the length of the video to be processed and second the processing power of your computer. My computer is i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz. No separate GPU. A video of 30 minutes in length takes just over 1 hour to process.

    Quick question, if editing from 2 cameras (SD cards), one shot in 4K and one in 1080, can I render in 4K? Or would it have to be in 1080, and 4K footage be dropped down?

    Thanks for this video. Currently experiencing tremendous problems with DaVinci Resolve. Playback during editing of video is nearly impossible with massive amount of jittery stuttering behavior, video and audio always out of sync. This makes review of video editing progress impossible. Numerous error messages during rendering process, program is unable to render a particular frame or clip. And now DaVinci requires over 10 hours to render an 8-minute video. It's actually insane. Have reviewed numerous "solutions" to these problems, unable to find anything other than short-term band-aids before problems return. Running out of reasons to not jettison DaVinci Resolve. Then again, it's probably just me.

    Best guide to video editing is to study the history of film making first. To know what 23.98 / 24fps means and why people say “cinematic look”, know why and when to shoot in higher frame rates
    know what NTSC vs PAL means, know what audio standards mean and do. Know what pixel ratios are and why
    Understand bit depth and color profiling
    Know when and where to cut. Watch “The Craft of Editing” by Walter Murch.
    Learn the roots then you’ll know how to drive any NLE

    QUESTION: When I select clips in the media pool, right click, and then add them to the timeline, DVR is shortening some of the clips as it stitches them together. I have to separate the clips in the timeline, stretch them out to their full length so that the transitions between clips flow smoothly (before editing), and then delete the blank space gap I created. Sometimes I have to do this over and over again, working from the left to the right along the timeline, only to find that earlier clips have again been "cut off". This is EXTREMELY frustrating. What is causing this?

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  Год назад +1

      This is a great question. A 24fps timeline will allow for 24fps or 60fps clips to be dropped onto it. The 60fps clip will have the ability to be slowed down to 40% of the original speed but 24fps clips cannot be slowed down without getting choppy. However, you can also drop 60fps footage onto a 24fps timeline and keep it at normal speed and it will work fine to do so.

    So I had 15.8 Gb of Gopro footage in 2.7K and when I did "generate optimize media" it created huge files in the OptimizedMedia folder (over 200Gb) and took almost 3 hours to do. Since I don't have a lot of hard drive space left, I had to delete the optimized files. Since Corel Videostudio wouldn't work with the Gopro 2.7K footage, I used Davince to render the files to 1080p/24 which Videostudio could work with. Videostudio makes the files less choppy by creating lower resolution files for editing and then uses the original files for rendering. Not sure I can work with DaVinci if it creates larger optimized files. Your thought about this. Final result is my latest RUclips video. "WOW - winter..."

Different methods I suppose. Edit. I've learnt a bit from this. The editing to music and the colour grading were interesting. Thanks.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  Год назад

      You are correct in the general consensus of what those do. I’m a Premiere Pro editor first and foremost and in there Adobe labels everything really clearly with exactly what it does :-) So I did indeed misspeak on what a few of these do but as long as an editor is using the histograms/waveforms to keep the end result within the min and max limits on there this is key.

    The video is cool and straight forward but have you ever gotten the ‘media offline’ problem, for beyond that point in the video of importing media files is where I’m stuck, if you have any idea of how I can get around this that would be helpful. I use a go pro 9 and the video setting are generally the same from the naming of your go pro footage.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  Год назад +1

      Yes, I suspect this relates to the HEVC codec not being installed if you’re using Windows. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not include this with Windows and it is a one-time, 99 cent fee to purchase this from the Windows Store. Hope this helps.

My question is the "adjustment clip" feature, I followed your steps but it will not allow me to expand and pertain to all? I tried everything to move it over all clips but it didnt let me. What's up with the small amount of blank audio at the beginning of each clip? I'm having this problem and the audio isn't synced. I have to cut that little bit out, then move the audio to match but it leaves audio missing at the end of each clip. Any ideas?

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  Год назад

      Are the audio and video part of the same file? In other words, are these files with problems the .MP4 files directly from the GoPro? Or is there a secondary, separate audio file that you recorded on another device such as an external mic?
      Also, do your timeline settings match your footage? For example, if you’re dropping 30fps (actually 29.97) footage from the GoPro onto your timeline is your timeline set to 29.97fps? That slight difference can create an issue like this. 24fps would be 23.976. 60fps would be 59.94.

    • @MtnWanderer-TieDye-
      @MtnWanderer-TieDye- Год назад +1

    I still have the free copy of Davinci (either my camera will be bought first or I'll just cough up the bucks for the full product) and when I go to import my files (from my GoPro 8)(4K) they don't show up at all in the directory. Is this because the free version of Davinci only works with specific files? I had to use Shutter Encoder on a recent project to convert some files to a format Davinci seemed to like.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
