Driving The World’s Fastest EV - The $2.1 Million Rimac Nevera

  • Rimac is Croatia’s first and only automaker. Its 35-year-old founder, Mate Rimac, started tinkering with electric vehicles after he blew the engine in an old BMW he raced as a teen. After rebuilding it with an electric drivetrain - and winning some races - he founded Rimac Automobili in 2009, and today the company has released an electric supercar, the Nevera. CNBC’s John Rosevear gives the $2.1 million electric vehicle a test drive in the canyon roads above Malibu to find out if it lives up to the hype.

      It ran Nurburgring just over 7 mins under not the best conditions very hot "not favorable for an electric" and without a very experienced driver. They plan on going back still the 3rd fasted electric car time but the fastest production EV time. Under better conditions sub 7 mins should be achievable.

    • @redslate
      @redslate 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@netgeek3010 Is it fair to even call it a "production" model? (There's no defined criteria.) How many have been "produced?" Does this emphasis really _add_ anything of value?
      Is a Mclaren F1 a "production car?" It's obviously touted as one, but fewer than 100 street cars were ever produced.
      It's one thing to brag about a Camaro, Corvette, 911 achieving impressive benchmarks as "production models" in comparison to full race cars and purpose-built prototypes, but when you're talking about a design with less than 200 on the road... it essentially loses all meaning.

      Takes about 3 minutes to fill up your gas tank.. (not including the drive time getting to the gas station). Let's say you fill that thing up once a week, That's 52 weeks, * 3 minutes which equals 156 minutes... 2 hours and 36 minutes. That's how long you spend every year standing next to your car.
      I've had electric cars since 2020.. when I get home it takes me all of two or three seconds to grab the handle, plug my car in, and go on with my evening. My car fills up while I'm sleeping.
      That's not forget about your trips to the dealership for maintenance intervals or oil changes. NOW, WHO'S WAITING LONGER YOU OR ME? 🤣🤣

    • @gregorymalchuk272
      @gregorymalchuk272 11 месяцев назад

      @@TheMadmax0609 I know this may be difficult for you to understand, but I travel longer than one electric car charge. And usually for more important business, like appointments at state hospital for appointments. A 30 minute charge time is unacceptable. A 2 to 8 hours charge time is out of the question. And the electric vehicle premium completely wipes out the better cost per mile of an EV (in low electricity cost areas). In liberal jurisdictions, the outrageously high cost of electricity alone makes the cost per mile almost the same. I do my own oil changes and some of my own maintenance.

      Precisely. It takes 0 minutes out of our busy schedules, and we leave the house every day with a full charge. What's a stop at a gas station take, maybe 10 minutes? That's 10 minutes too long.

      @@kevinfeathers7432 NOBODY needs 1000 miles of range in a car. If some finds a way to deliver 1000 miles of range out of an 80 kilowatt-hour battery the pack will be reduced to 40 to allow 500 miles of range... Lighter pack, better handling car, cheaper price.
      1000 miles of range is dumb 👎
      My Plaid gets over 300 miles and I only need it when I'm traveling, which is about once a year. If you need to travel across the country a lot use an airline.
