    You tried to use a 1500 watt kettle in a power station rated for 500 watts. That doesn't make it junk. This is what happens when you use something outside the threshold of its intended purpose. Reviewer error.

      Brilliant deduction. And you don’t think that’s going to happen to anyone else who uses this hey? Every single person is just going to know what it can and can’t run. No one will have any issues because they are all as smart as you are

      @@TheLastHonestInfluencer I think a review should be based on the intended purpose of the product. Folks don't always read directions. Most of us that buy these things know the capabilities from the specs. A reviewer calling something junk because it was used completely outside of its intended purpose....asinine. Go buy an electric car rated for 340 miles and get mad that it would not go 500 miles without charging 😂.

      @@Placeitinmybox1 Welp I'm one of those people who don't read directions because I'm impatient af and just want stuff to work how I want it to work. I'm actually probably smarter than the average human, and I'd still buy this and think I can do what I want with it. This dude would have the responsibility of doing a non-asinine review if he was affiliated with the product's company. But he's not, he's doing these reviews for regular dumbasses like me. And I appreciate it.

    it's a 500w unit it's not going to run anything that draws more. I do agree that they need to make this stuff clear at point of sale. There's nothing that comes with it (I have one) that explains this stuff so I don't blame you for not knowing. I only knew because I did my research. I needed something that would run my internet router and charge my laptop if power goes out. It's great for stuff like that but when camping I would pass on this. Get something rated for 1800w for that. Thanks for the review.

    I understand how someone who isn't informed about power ratings could buy the wrong solar generator for their needs. They see the word generator and expect something that's a similar size/output as a gas generator.
    If you want to run appliances like a kettle or coffee maker, you're looking at probably spending $1500+ at a minimum for an inverter that will support that kind of load and at least two 100w panels to charge the massive battery.
    Gas generators are cheaper and require far less of an initial investment to be a reliable source of electricity. However, they are noisy and require constant refueling and routine engine maintenance. This may be fine if you're going camping for the weekend, or running your fridge for a few days because a summer storm knocked a power line down in your neighborhood. They are not obsolete and have a use in many situations. Look at NC. They were handing out gas generators left and right to people that needed power for medical equipment because they are quick to set up and they just work as long as you can keep them fueled.
    That being said, a gas generator is not what you're looking for if your trying to live completely off grid without a large stockpile of fuel or if you want something as an emergency/disaster backup that's more robust because depending on the disaster, logistical breakdowns may make fuel difficult or even impossible to get. Gas generators are a short term solution. Solar generators are a long term investment that will work as long as you have access to sunlight.
    These situations where fuel is hard to get is where solar generators really shine. You don't need to do anything with them except protect the battery pack from the weather and stick the panels out in the sun. The drawbacks of course, are that it's a very expensive initial investment and can take up a much larger footprint in order to get the same performance as a small gas generator. It all depends on your specific use case which is better for your needs.
    Solar generators are not junk, but they are not gas generator replacements either. They each have their own use cases.

  • @zeppast
    @zeppast 4 месяца назад +2

    Yes it's way overpriced and the only thing this power station is even somewhat good for is powering low wattage camping gear or running your router as a UPS in a power outage other then that not much else. The 500W inverter is just too small to power everyday kitchen cooking appliances. You need a power station with a 1200w to 1800w inverter to run an air fryer or a kettle or anything useful. The "X Boost" feature is also a marketing ploy this unit will not boost/surge up to 1000w it will simply run a 1000w device at 500w and drop the voltage to achieve it it's marketing nonsense and dangerous for any sensitive equipment with a microprocessor like refrigerators or smart kettles and microwaves.

      Great comment, thank you. Said much better than I did in the review. This was my first time using anything like this so I just believed the other RUclips reviews saying it was great, they sold me a dud.
      Agree, for what it’s ’good for’ this thing should be $150-$200.
      Trying to find a power station with an inverter like you recommend, good lord they are expensive. Might just stick to using fire (jetboil) to boil water..
      Thanks again have a good one

    I have one. It's a piece of garbage, it failed. Warranty sucks.
    BUT this video is still uninformed nonsense. A "$100 USB C Charger" will have 1/10 of the capacity this unit has. It'll provide 1/8 of the output. Let's call out the product for its defects and not on your inability to read. Manufacturer says it'll do anything? Manufacturer has many makes and models. GMC trucks can tow 20000 pounds. 2 of them can, not all 5.
