    I think Ray Charles (a blind man) could have done a better job on building that tube chassis - make sure you give it a good going over & the hoop you added to clear the driveshaft is just fine.

    I like how you are showing the exact changes and describing why - its a great way to keep the channel engaged - great work. Also I think that the main roll bar has been cut off and moved down to allow the Periscopio drop in the centre (pretty sure I saw photos of it with radius either side)

    Those front control arms are a trick, and to get it to line up with the wheel well properly I’ve had to make new mounts. I believe the cabin area was extended to accommodate taller drivers, but that means that this area got compromised. I’d wanted to use corvette suspension on mine but I ran into the same issue and couldn’t get a bolt installed so I needed to make custom control arms. There are a lot of differences between this body and the later one I have that was made by JP… mine is much more refined. I also had to cut the roll bars off my chassis… not because they were in bad shape but because they didn’t match my roofline. Most Countach replica bodies have a drooping front roofline… they pretty much all have some issue in that area. I’ve had my body corrected to match OEM dimensions so the roll cage will get rebuilt to match that. When you rebuild that cage, just be careful to make sure it matches the body and not the parts you’re replacing. 👍

    • @TheDIYTuners
      @TheDIYTuners  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yep I feel I'm going to have to go same route as you with the new front arms. Roof bars actually fitted not too bad to the body but as ever we will refine as much as we can

    • @jamesdeath3477
      @jamesdeath3477 8 месяцев назад

      I've spotted that droopy roof thing on the replicas. What's that all about? It looks terrible. Not like there's so much room in one of those things that you can make it even worse.

    • @rickmellor
      @rickmellor 8 месяцев назад

      @@jamesdeath3477 the reason the droop is so prevalent is because most replica bodies are copies of copies. Back in the 80’s someone splashed a real car and sold bodies. Guys bought those bodies and made copies of their own and sold them under different brands like Prova, Sienna,Heritage,Armstrong, etc. I’m probably wrong but I think the Mirage was the first. I’m sure other splashes of real cars were done over the years. I’ve heard stories about how the first roof droop happened but I don’t really know. But once they were copied the problem proliferated. I know my car will have parts from several different sources, including real cars, and some parts I’m having redesigned from 3d scans so I can get mine made just the way I want. My car will be an LP400S high body EV with a correct-ish roof. It’s enough to make the purists want to harm me. 😂

      @@rickmellor ...as I commented up there, I like the early cars so much more than the later ones. I'd love a replica of the prototype Countach, but with an Alfa Busso V6, so it still sounds Italian and also so I could afford to drive it. I take it you saw Davide Cironis replica build? It came out really nice. Even Lamborghini liked it, so I don't see why anyone would have a problem with yours.
      I see what you mean about copies of copies. It's the same with Porsche 356 Speedster replicas. They almost always have the headlights about 4" too high on the wings. Looks dreadful!

    The previous builder is Terry Fox. His has a company he calls Artworkzdesigns I believe. He has legal battles at the moment with a lot of his customers. This is not the first car pulled out of his shed. There are more. He should be banned to build cars, just for the safety of the owners of the car. He also blocks everybody, including me, when you point out stuff that is dangerous.
    Fun fact, the countach he is driving, he did not build it himself. None of the cars he ever tried to built, are on the road.

      He has had 1 customers car for over 6 years and taken over 50k off him to finish it and has still not finished it. Furthermore, it was part built by the previous owner when Terry took it on 6 years ago.😮

    Great videos ,I also have a Countach build and to save space I put a chain between all corners of the roof and winched it way up above the chassis ,I found it handy to be able to lower it on and off the chassis ,it looks like you may have plenty of workshop roof height ,also bear in mind the engine and gearbox have to be low enough for the engine cover to clear the motor ,I will have BMW V12 in mine and ended up raising the rear quarters 20 mm for it to clear.

    I think the simulated "ride height" is actually lower than it would really be. Hard to say without the full weight and body in place but the control arms should be pointing down just slightly vs. totally parallel to the ground as now... should make driveshaft angles better!

    • @TheDIYTuners
