Because you buy them on sales, the today one are the total price of all of your game currently ( normal price ) How?, they list a game that you have on your steam account ,then search or match when you buy the game by date and how much is the game when you buy it, then sum it up and you have your account worth With the current total is more or less the same, but with current date and sum the total and you have your today price

because some games won't be cracked to new version cuz of denuvo, or maybe some are hella long and if you format pc frequently and play games over large periods of time it's nice to have a cloud backup to reinstall them, or some are super cheap and it's nice to support indie industry if you can. strongest reasons i can think of, of course shitty and greedy studios don't deserve a dime.
