@@davidsilva563 When the Jam came on, Paul Weller said "Thanks to the Professionals, Steve and Paul from the Sex Pistols". So whatever hatred may have existed was not apparent at that show! Professionals were good, Jam were excellent, BTW.

I miss those days. My fav venue was the Whisky. Went to posh boy night: Social Distortion, Agent Orange, CH3 1982 I believe? Still one of my fav shows. Also the Clash at the Palladium.
There couldnt be a more stark difference between this band in 1981 and the band the drummer and the singer were in only 4 years before.I remember 1981 when there was Tenpole Tudor, Adam and the Ants but i never saw or heard of The Professionals except the cop show on itv
In fact, the song was made for the movie wtith the "fictional" band called the looters. Cook and Jones called their "post-pistols" band after they made the movie.
A lot of my ex girlfriends turned out to be 'Professionals'....I was quite shocked as I never suspected a thing...? Right Carol....right..Sandra? LOL. Be very careful is all I can say!
You mean Ray ? Lol ! Type in "The Nothings & Steve Jones-Join the professionals" to see our version we did with Steve in 1983 ! It even has our bass players 15 year old brother singing because Steve liked him...and he's wearing his "Professionals" t-shirt he bought when we saw them in April "82...also famous groupie/author Pamela Des Barres is on the right in a red dress dancing up a storm ! Cheers !
Oh i meant to say the kid brothers is singing "1-2-3" ! But Pamela Des Barres is dancing in both songs-plus a bunch of others "Black leather/Silly thing/Dancing with myself" Cheers !
And mid-tour too. I had my tickets, was FINALLY going to see them on their very first U.S. tour, and they broke up 2 weeks before they were scheduled to play my hometown.
Rotten made the Pistols sound and is why all of their songs were great. Every band needs a great vocalist and The Pistols had one, like The Doors, Nirvana, AIC, Queen, etc. Their voice is the most important instrument.
Love jonsey but this sounds like so many other instantly forgettable pieces of late 70s power pop mediocrity that was around in 79/80 . Definitely not their best work .
Are you deaf or what? Maybe go clinic have heart checkup or something. What the hell with you? Millions would have dream being part of it !! I can't believe it !!
Did the Raincoats still this chorus for "Off Duty Trip"? I can't imagine they took it from the Raincoats considering it's clear who the talented ones are between the two bands.
Remember watching this at the time on some Saturday morning kids show-great song, still is👍
Great band...Jones is a very underrated guitar

Saw them open for The Jam. Great show.
I Thought the Pistols and the Clash hated The Jam OR is that the Dead Ones in the Bands ??

saw them in 81.....with The Flesh Eaters and CH3. now that was a fucking great show.
@Philip Holmes it could have been 82, its blurry for me. But I know it was with Ch3 and The Flesheaters. Awesome times

I just love it when the chorus kicks in ! Bright, powerful, perfect counterpoint to the darker and rougher verse.
Yes,jonesy was a professional, heroin addict that is,of which he admits.great song and the ‘b’side has any body got an alibi is also excellent🍺
I saw it when it was new
I had you when you were knew, times have changed.
Saw them in 85 at Nassau comm college and 999 the week after
Had to have been earlier, they were done by the end of 1982.
Cool song.

Great rock flick. Paul from the clash, Paul from the Pistols, Fee from the Tubes. Gotta see it again.

HELLLLLLLLLLLL yes!
Every time I hear this, all I can think about are these pictures of Diane Lane-ruclips.net/video/9Nt-a81AlCw/видео.html
Not bad for a confirmed junkie and an addict of all things bad,Jones’ words not mine
Jonesy should have stayed on as the original Pistols singer
You’re joking I hope

No chance, he's obviously off his head in this video and besides, Lydon was untouchable in them days.

I do like this but agree that this single was not their best. The subsequent album 'I Didn't See It Coming' definitely had their best material on it.
Jonesy didn't really have the distinctive look of a front man and this song is shouty rubbish in my opinion. Harsh I know.
