The 6D is, IMO, the absolute best value full frame digital photo camera you can buy today.
Coupled with the blow out prices on EF lenses we’re currently seeing with all the band wagoners jumping to mirrorless; if all you’re after is photo, nothing more is needed.

I bought a used 6D in January this year because of your past videos about this camera and I took ~45k pictures with it in just 7 months as I started to learn photography. Based on the number of shots, you can tell I love this camera.
Many many thanks for your work ! I always think about this channel whenever this camera makes me smile and believe me, it does !

Thanks for the excellent WB shift tip, Martin.
I’m glad you are still promoting the 6D.
It’s a stand out great buy for photographing virtually anything except very fast moving subjects.
    That sensor is just wonderful…

    I have a 6D MK II
    This video is very useful.
One question: At 07:44 you talk about adjusting the white balance. But I am sure you are shooting in RAW and can adjust the white balance later.
Why not just leave it on auto and make adjustments later?

Excellent! Going to switch live view focus to quick mode right away because that is definitely not very usable otherwise! Will make the other changes also- knew about DoF button mapping just having difficulty with muscle memory since my other camera is 5d iii with a right-handed button that I mapped to the same function- white balance shift is an awesome feature allowing for lots of control and even programming possibly fuji-esque recipes!

Oh yeah. To add a minimum shutter speed in AV mode is handy. There's been a few times I've had a long lens on and noticed the shutter is too slow for conditions. I often use camera on boats. Going to have to watch this a few times. Thanks👍

All good stuff, including some suggestions I had not thought of. But I am perplexed regarding the video of the back of the camera. The text on the rearscreen was a bit blurry, but the detail in the back of the 6D body was quite clear. DOF does not seem to be the problem given how close the back screen is to rear surface of the camera body.

Expert Shield 6D anti glare screen protector (if you can still find it) makes it soo much better outside. Combine that with a magic lantern lut to show a black and white preview with super darks and super lights highlighted. Great.

Thanks for the tips, I have the 5d, 5d2 and 6d also r50 I always find myself using the 6d the most, the r50 has great autofocus but the pictures and feel lack something the old cameras have. I went to the national geographic wildlife photographer exhibition this year and was surprised how many of the photos were taken on older DSLRs. I'm thinking of trading my r50 and getting a canon r body or maybe a r6.

I have been shooting a 5D classic the last few years and just picked up a 6D which comes this week from KEH and I am excited to try it out for comparison. They are currently 20% off as they are in the overstock section from KEH for another few days. Best deal I could imagine for a used but excellent condition, 6 month warranty purchase.

Disappointed, but I can still see how vaguely it could be still called "excellent". I'll give a go for a few days and see if I can get used to it. Charging now so we'll see if any other prizes.

    Hi Martin,
Need advice on LiveView settings as my 6D doesn't reliably show visual change when changing shutter speed. It's as if the LiveView back screen display automatically corrects to a selected preset lighting value, leading to the effect that any changes to manual mode settings are not being shown in a real-time fashion. Subsequently, I'm having to adjust levels after taking test shots instead of previewing effects through the LiveView function.
    Thanks

Hi Martin, I really like your channel and your way of editing and also your way of seeing photography. I'm a little worried because my camera broke yesterday afternoon. I have to take some portraits of a girl. Could you recommend a DSLR camera for around 500 that is reliable and has decent autofocus and that has good performance with high ISO? I need it before the end of this month. Thank you very much for your help. Keep up the channel as it is very educational.

I just got an old secondhand 6D which I bought mainly for astrophotography. However I’m struggling with bright daytime shooting as it’s requiring super fast shutter speeds to get the correct exposure. On my 16-35mm bright daylight taking a pic of my dog outside, the shutter speed I ended up with was 1/800! 😅 I then thought I’d check the exposure in the Auto mode and those pics were too bright. Could my light meter be off? Or should I just get used to this camera that lets a huge amount of light in???
