Loved your online site making jet engines from turbos long time ago man that must have been 2003 got me hooked and I built one too👍 now I can say thanks for sharing
@@TheBlibo I am OK giving Alexa final authority to fire it; its all manual upstream so it can't decide when to turn the master switch on or off or where to set the Variac. Ultimately projects like this come down to having a safety plan and sticking to it. What I did works for me, but if you don't trust electronic relays on smart devices that's perfectly fine too. In a previous job I used to do things like this for a living, and it was not enjoyable. What makes this fun is exactly the aspect that I get to decide how and when I do it, and I get to do it my way ;)
Man it's crazy seeing you on RUclips. I remember your website from well over a decade ago. It was a huge part of why I got Into electrical engineering, as well as playing around with spark gap and solid state tesla coils and all kinds of other HV projects. Really hope to see more videos from you in the future!
I'm coming from a video where they used a hydraulic press and high current pulse (to achieve high temperatures) to convert graphite into diamonds, with partial success. Has this ever been tried with this kind of setup?
Not that I am aware of, but it is theoretically possible. I have heard of industrial diamonds being produced with explosively compressed graphite before.
It adds convenience to the setup, when it works. Have to be careful though: I burned a hole on my floor watching a video of my laser: the video had the "alexa Laser ON" command and she turned it on when I wasn't expecting.
I wanna see some more pulse compactors videos. Railguns, death rays wink wink 😉 I'm sure aron would like you to come down for some bigger pulse compactors videos.
Ha cool 😎 we bought a size D 25kV 100kA ignition to fire our bank but haven't got round to i nice polished finished build yet 😅, have you seen my pulse cap vids ? 🙈 may have broken a couple of windows with the shapnel from our lash up coin crusher 😂, great video subbed 😎👍👍👍👍👍 Steve
Hahaha of course I've seen your videos, I have been following your work since my college days! Big fan! Welcome to my channel, I hope to put some more stuff up one of these days 🙂 -Sam Barros.
@Powerlabs you say you hope to put some more content up at some point, that would be awesome, please tag me if you do get to uploading mate because yt doesn't always send notifications for some reason ..
What is the highest power you have worked with in pulse experiments? I have a 24KVDC / 303Mfd cap setting in my shop (~400lbs / 83K Joules). Haven't decided what to do with it yet.
I’m still here! Unfortunately I work a very demanding engineering job in the “real world”, so as much as doing things like this is my absolute passion, the time to film, edit and post just never seems to be there. I have 3 videos in the pipeline currently, hopefully I can get at least one more uploaded this year.
Then don't? That's what makes these projects so wonderful: I get to do it exactly the way I enjoy doing it. You can build yours any way you like too ;-)
Es verdad! No se por que, talvez la distancia entre la bobina y la lata és demasiada? Intente calibres entre 4AWG y 12AWG pêro no hecho mucha diferencia... Gracias por comentar!
Ok. There goes my screws in my ankle. I can feel the pain already. Got your link from a S.O. comment. That was pretty cool to watch.
Impressive!
Great video
Thank you!
Absolutely the best use for an Amazon Echo in existence! 😂
more please !!!!! I love it !
I heard a sound of a electric legend while watching this video: full bridge rectifier
Молодцы ребята 👍

the use of alexa like this is genius
Thanks! Keeps my hands free to do other stuff
Is te use of Alexander genius or dumb
Never trust an electronic switch
But you can trust a mechanical breaker
Just look at the grid

Could you make lead more dense with that?
Probably not, given that its crystalline lattice can't change. Unless you started out with porous lead.

What value capacitors are used for coin and can? (μF & Volts?)
All these videos are using the same capacitor, it is a 268uF unit that can be charged to 12kV max.
@@Powerlabs WoW i wish i could get such caps. They must be priceless expensive i guess? If you even could find such components, 2nd hand?
@@robson6285 About $6K each, or much less if you can find used ones on Ebay like I did.
That poor relay, LOL! That is insane power!

great video and setup. not sure how keen i am on voice activation of it though

You need a slow motion cam of that fruit vaporizing
The fruit video is filmed at 1000FPS, its just that fast!
Someone get Gav & Dan on the horn for a collab.
I remember that capacitor

It will happen!
This channel is sick how do you not have like a couple mil subs lol
Probably because I refuse to do cringey clickbait titles?
This is awesome!!! I love how you used alexa to control it
So is the quarter denser now? Does it weigh the same?
It weights the same. I don't imagine its density has changed in a way I can measure.
4:40 now apply yota watts power to iron ball and make it Tiny Blackhole
what are you using for the switch? triggered gas discharge tube? or just a HV relay?
The same relay you can see on all the videos... There are no other switches in this circuit...
@@Powerlabs it appears to work well! thanks for the reply; much appreciated

I fired a railgun at about 190kJ once with Aaron. It blew the rails apart.

Ugh another awesome channel that stopped uploading :(

@@Powerlabs Looking forward to it man! Totally understandable, the money and time put into projects like this can't be easy.
I wouldnt trust alexa with that kinda power 😢😅 great job though !
I would NEVER use a voice activated system - especially a "cloud-based" one, for safety purposes!!!

Could it be used to reprogram a politicians mind 😂
Not everything in this world has to do with politics. Just enjoy the science for what it is.

Can you invest in some better lighting so you don't induce epileptic seizures in your viewers.
Light sources suitable for high speed video are very expensive, but its on the wish list!
