As we get a clearer idea of just how dangerous plastic pollution is for the environment, the race is on to find ecological replacements for everyday plastic objects, especially those which will be used only once. China is the world''s largest polluter but has begun to introduce wheat straws instead.

Paper straws aren’t much better either. The amount of resources used to cut down trees, transport them to factories, chemicals to process, clean/bleach/color/dye, then transporting them to wherever in the world. The carbon footprint of paper straws is also high. Yes, they’re biodegradable but we lose our trees to make them. Best alternative are reusable ones - glass, metal, bamboo. Or just completely forego straws when possible.

For every tree we cut we should have to plant one

Paper straws are trash. Hopefully, another alternative like this one becomes more popular.
