No it's accurate. It's not bad by any means. It's more like it's forgotten that it started the universe. I remember that they didn't even include it in the box set, which is crazy.

A shame that us 2014 fans are in the minority. Clearly the creators cared more making this film, such a better film on almost every aspect. Yes there wasn’t a lot of him, but that made him better, just like Jaws. I hope we get more of THIS.
It's pretty disappointing that they just decided to turn the franchise into yet another "Marvel" trope, just for the sake of the nostalgia factor and catering to the self-entitled elements of the existing fandom.
The original movie has a vastly different vibe and appears like it's going for a completely different creative direction. Just look up Gareth Edwards' latest movie, dude actually had the creative potential already but people are too impatient.
This movie is honestly so amazing and a great rebirth of the franchise. I always get goosebumps when Godzilla roars at male Muto for the first time. Only I could wish I had the talent to make a movie like this.
This is the Godzilla we want, the panic, the horror ambience, the monster in the shadows that destroys his enemys with bites and atomic breaths, not this "human" way of run and punch, we need a mass monster, slow and angry
Lets go back to this Godzilla....it carried so much mystery, especially for new Godzilla fans and i really felt his size in this one, bring this vibe back please

Godzilla 2014 has the best dark atmospheric battle in the whole monsterverse, and for my opinion, this is easily the best Godzilla in the 10 year Monsterverse

Godzilla 2014: Underated and Overhated
I havent seen Minus One so as far as I know this is still the best modern Godzilla movie yet.
I love both this film and Minus One. I highly recommend checking it out.

The Kaijus just felt real and terryifing, you could see their scale and feel their weight
The more I see these behind the scenes videos pre GvK, I miss more of the old Godzilla personality and themes we had. I hope we return to them again soon and one of directors does another film.

I miss this style so much... When the monsterverse wasn't the goofy fast paced WWE thing we got today. It's not that those types of movies are bad don't get me wrong, but this monsterverse started out different to that. It's basically lost it's identity trying to bait nostalgia of the showa era, even though these movies could have been their own legendary type of style, the one they are explaining in this video...

I like the direction of 2014 and KotM more than GvK and GxK. Of course it’s entertaining watching the Titans fight like the latest 2 but in term of story, feelings and emotions they are just pale compared to 2014 and KotM.
KotM has always been my fav of the MV but the more I watch 2014 the more it grows on me. Also I love to see Godzilla having more character than just coming out and destroy everyone in his sight.
Agree. The first two were great and had a sense of scale to them especially 2014. The recent two with Kong just seem like a marvel movie of action with no weight behind it.
Easily the best Godzilla’s been in the MV, wish he still had this kinda presence and weight in the later films.

i miss when you could feel the weight and presence of godzilla in a film. I dont mind the new insane movies like GxK but they're starting to feel like marvel brainrot. For that reason i absolutely love 2014 and KOTM. And no i don't mind the shortened amount of screen time godzilla has as long as its quality screentime just like what 1954, 2014 and Minus gave us.
I remember screaming It's a trap!!! In the theater after Bryan Cranston died within the first 30 minutes😂😂😂 still turned out to be a great film
6:12 - 6:33 - THIS is what GvK and GxK is sorely missing - this approach in the 2014 film really helped sell the sense of scale and it's sorely lacking in the recent films. They did dial it back in KOTM a little bit but there's still quite a few shots where they keep the shots at a 'human' level.
Still my favorite of the MonsterVerse films

Thank you Warner Brothers, and thank you Gareth Edwards, and the whole team involved in making this movie. I remember growing up as a little kid I was a little embarrassed to describe my favorite movies being Godzilla, reason being is kids didn’t know what Godzilla was at the time. That all changed in 2014. I remember watching the movie and going back to school not talking much about it because I didn’t think people knew about the movie. But a bunch of my classmates were talking about Godzilla. Little did I know those were the seeds planted, With every new monster verse movie, the tree grows bigger and bigger.
Another thing I ponder on sometimes is the next generation of Godzilla movies. The kids right now growing up watching these monsters movies one of them might become a Director one day for a future Godzilla movie. Hypothetically, I would be 40 to 50 years old when that takes place so enjoy what we have right now. We are living through a Godzilla Renaissance.
In this movie everything was so huge and big screen experience was so much fun and Gareth Edward is awesome film maker, he made a piece of art with Godzilla movie ❤😍

Hearing them talk about the process of making this film, I don’t think even half of this was taken into account with GxK
G-man felt Dr. Serizawa's sacrificial death and Ghidorah just paid the price. If only Doc sacrificed until GxK, Goji will never need Kong to stop Scar King and Shimo
I wish this movie could be properly re-released with corrected levels...it's so dark 😭
I'd love to get a new version of this first movie, brighten up those night scenes, add some more lighting here and there and I'll gladly watch it through again.

The only thing I didn’t care for was the design of the mutos. I felt like they were lazy. Had there been better monster designs I think the movie would be phenomenal

During the last couple of minutes of this featurette Gareth mentions cutting away from the airport battle to view it on television being his favorite part. That was the biggest "swing and a miss" moment of this movie IMHO. We had been waiting for so long to see something happen and this would have been the perfect time to do that. He continues that it makes the ending so much more epic. Again, wrong. The screen, the actual screen, is so dark that it made this a very frustrating movie experience. I'd like to see this re-released with a brighter transfer for many of the shots, along with the actual airport battle being added in.
Shame so much of the action was so under lit as to be almost unwatchable.
After watching Godzilla minus one, maybe I was wrong about this movie 🤔 maybe it was the kid from kick@ss that was problem🤔
