    Any wizard players out there? You should try getting a notebook where you make pages of spells, it’s kinda fun and pretty immersive! You’re like the wizard and you have your spellbook that you wrote into.

      My biggest problem with this is when learning new spells it's hard to keep them in order of spell level as sometimes you level up and grab a first level spell without meticulous planning it's hard for me to do it because I need them organized by spell level

    I guess this is where I differ from other DnD players. Some people like buying $200 dice towers, I made my own from a Pringles can and cardboard, then decorated it to look like a wizards tower. Now I have a fully functional dice tower that doubles as a mini for around $1-$2, compared to a blocky wooden box that serves one purpose for literally x100 the costs lol

      I get that buddy. I agree with you. It's nice to have certain things but so far most of it seems a little extra (Like a roller tower and having several sets of die.) but I can't deny the fun of making your own tools. There's a satisfaction to creating someone out of scraps knowing it'll save money and still preform that same task. I also argue it allows for you to become closer to these items since you built them and did so to your liking.

      Tell me about it. I have a DM kit bag that I cart around. Everything in it is either gifted, thrifted, or stuff I already had. The most expensive item was a handbag of holding I bought as a gift for my sister but she bought herself a purse she liked more so I had to get something else, 30 bucks.

    I don't actually play RPGs, but I do play similar games (mainly miniature games, TCGs and board games).
    A few of my favorite things not mentioned here:
    --Storage. I LOVE having a nice clean bag to store stuff in where everything fits just right. I use a couple of camera bags with adjustable compartments for most of my X-Wing miniatures as well as for my Magic: The Gathering decks that I'm real proud of.
    --Pen and paper. I really like having a nice quality notebook to keep notes and scores in...as well as a good quality, nice writing pen.
    --Tokens/upgraded components...I love getting different tokens made of various materials (or card based tokens for TCGs) and I've had a blast upgrading all my cardboard tokens and rulers and such for the X-Wing miniatures game with nice looking acrylics. It's also fun to upgrade stock components of my favorite board games with better quality pieces.

    My Ultimate Guard Playmat and Ultimate Guard boxes to store dice, the spell cards and Ultimate Guard spell card folder books to store them in, Spell templates and the gaming tiles to make suitable layouts. Also we use the Pathfinder Beastiality Boxes in place of miniatures if we don't have them. They provide soooo many characters for such a great price and have really cool artwork. Im also a little superstitious about my dice and rolls and dont like people using my dice and messing with my dice juju hahahah

    I know this video is old... but honestly in combination with the spell cards. I would suggest the spellbook card holders by forged dice co. I have two of their little ones that hold the regular cards and they are awesome! They also have little binders that come with 40 sheets of 4 pocket inserts and 40 two pocket inserts for the larger monster cards. They are like a faux leather i think( the small ones are definitely but idrk about the binder type ones.) Although in my opinion the binder ones seem to be better suited for DM's since it has a large capacity and has slots for the larger monster cards... well maybe druids could benefit from the large monster cards as well as a reminder for what animals they can shift into?

  • @AzraelThanatos
    @AzraelThanatos 5 лет назад +3

    One of the big things for DMing that I'd gotten a long while back that replaced a lot of others is the Savage Worlds DM screen that's designed for inserts. I've swapped them around for a lot of things and even between campaigns to just have things that I might need...and if I'm doing Adventurer's League stuff, I sometimes even have some pieces used specifically for certain adventures in order to make things easier for both me and players.
    Another thing that was cheap to do that was indispensable at the table is to take one of the small plano style boxes and a trip to the dollar store for some of the cheap, acrylic gems and shapes. They work great for counters and markers with some things that you have limited resources with. My Arcane Archer, currently, has 2 blue ones out normally for arcane shot uses, a red one for action surge, a green one for second wind, and a clear one for indomitable. There's a few yellow ones that tend to be used when we're in the dark that mark light arrows or other things lighting up the area. There are a few other markers in the stack for specific effects. I swap them around for other characters who have their own abilities.
    For other things, I've used MTGset editor to make some ability cards for my abilities and spells, which tend to be a simplified version of the text for easy use in the space with images that I've liked. I print them on card stock and store in card sleeves that I've found which represent the individual characters. Or I slot them in a 3 ring binder done up for the character with his spell options.

Wizard of the Coast reserves all rights to remove any and all books, supplements, materials, ect.. related to role playing should a player be caught using these. In all seriousness I have the warrior set and other than the d20, they all roll ok, but there is a certain technique to it so that they do roll fair.

    Man the merch that goes around in RPG's is insane, nothing wrong with that but I think I will stick with my Vampire the masquerade manual, pen and paper and a set of dice since thats already 70 plus euros of stuff.

    • @andrewlaverghetta715
      @andrewlaverghetta715 2 года назад

      I wouldn’t really call this “merch,” just accessories. Merch is branded stuff for a certain content creator or branded item that moreover promotes a company rather than being a functional item. That being said, the cards are really helpful. Dice trays are marginally helpful, and don’t need to cost nearly as much. The combat tiers are something I’ve just recently ordered. I’ve only played with 1 flying monster and I just used a water bottle to show it was higher. The group will be getting higher soon where there will be more flying. I could definitely do just dice on the map to show how high they are, but this D&D is a program at my local library, so it’s nice to have a certain amount of “wow factor” to help encourage people to bring friends and just come back from week to week.

For the past 4 years every time I go to PAX I always grab a new colorful metal dice set from Level Up Dice and something new to go with it from Wyrmwood.
    I would for sure recommend The Deck of Many for spell cards over the gale force nine(?) cards. They are so much nicer, with holographic spell images and the cards they look so awesome. IMO they would be much more inspiring to me as a spell caster to have those since the other ones all look the same and plain.
