@@theguy5855 I agree, hes very situational like seahorse, but differently from seahorse, it helps do something during a fight. the pet is nice to have in the ice king boss fight/ walking up to the fight. its not yhe best pet for this boss fight, but at least it has a use at some point in the game. the seahorse just makes you walk faster during the medusa area? and theres not even water in the medusa fight so theres no help during a fight either
An important thing to note is that not only both of Install Ball and Sherbert's abilities are useless in the vast majority of scenarios, they are oftentimes detrimental to have in a team since their abilities will often mess up your own juggles.
I think Bipolar Bear is extremely underrated here. A lot of the issue I have is knowing when enemies are dead in a juggle. Bipolar Bear will attack dead enemies in a juggle so I know that I can stop.
Just gotta say, Hawkster, absolute unit. Struggled on the Icekimo Arena for a while, running through potion til i ended up using Hawkster (was looking for DPS) and him bringing me food helped me so much, i ended up only using 1 potion the whole arena
Seahorse doesn't just raise speed in water it also secretly increases your agility stat. You don't notice it in speed but it will effect your arrows and you'll do more damage. Not super useful but he didn't mention everything about the pet
Yes definitely something I should of mentioned but I still think having a pet that sits there and does nothing for 95% of a boss fight is still useless (apart from painter) so always snoot 🔛🔝 :D

the troll pet, funnilly enough. has a special place in my heart, as hes the very last pet i unlocked. but also, as a kid, ((and even now)) i just REALY wanted the trolls to be playable, so when i eventually finally found out it was not a background troll, but a obtainable pet, i got quite happy, i just also think he looks adorable. rammy as well, is a big favorite of mine, just the way he suddenly leaves you to bonk enemies hard on the noggin, and then just floats back to you, hes also one of the cuter pets i think,
I agree Rammy and Trolly are my personal favorites as well. When I was but a wee child I would sit in the corner of the screen with my sheild up and Rammy would take out the enemies for me (that was long time ago lol)
IMHO the bipolar bear also has a use for frost king who is harder to hit when he's almost dead, and similarly for cyclops in insane mode. You can also avoid being frozen by simply not being on the ground when the attack goes off.
I used to play this game with my brother and sister all the time as a kid. I remember me and my sister would always race to get Bitey Bat or Troll because they looked the coolest.
I’ve been playing this game now for like 15 years and I SWEAR by Hawkster. I have no clue why the devs would create a character who can do everything. He does damage, he interrupts bosses and he fetches healing, not to mention he is the key component to a simple to do EXP glitch, so easy to find. This is the dude who SHOULD have been locked behind a full madness playthrough.
One thing I will also say about Frogglet as well for its F tier status is my buddy was trying to do a true Blacksmith build(using the Blacksmith hammer and Frogglet pet), and we found often that he was getting perma-deathed. For anyone unaware of this specific glitch, if you're dead in multiplayer, but somehow recover health while dead, there is no way to revive you. Im not sure if it's been patched in other places, but for Xbox Remastered version, it's still prevalent. We often found that bringing Frogglet would actually kill a lot of the fun because Frogglet would get my buddy perma-deathed(especially in corn boss dear god) and we would restart the level because obviously not gonna leave your buddy laying there for 10 mins. May seem like a niche nitpick, but with how often it was happening in one run before we forced him to drop the pet, I felt like it could be counted against Frogglet
I feel like All of C should get raised to B. Giraffey gives more exp, which is self explanatory, Cardinal is the reason you can get the behemoth, which is an S tier for you, Tiger paws increases two different stats, and chicken Increases three.
I think Sherbert deserves at least D tier, he allows early game non-magic characters access to flight regardless of their build, meaning he at least has a fringe use case earlier on
Sherbert (to my knowledge) is the only pet that does not stay permanently on all characters when unlocked (you have to get him each time on every character) and you need the magic jump to get him anyway (there is a cheese to get him but it is not intended) so i think i would keep him f tier, but if it was cuteness, he would be S for sure :)

I used to tell my friends back on 360 that Hawkster was just incredibly strong and I never wanted to take him off haha they were always just like “no no I’ll never take off the Giraffe” which was understandable but Hawkster was my 100% go-to.
I personally like scratchpaw, mainly because he is the cutest, but also because it goes well with strength + agility build (always good to have arrows against beefees)
I do disagree with froggler due to my experience in insane mode or the troll boss. In the troll boss when your farming exp, you most likely will just get wobbled in your shield and cant escape but when you wait for more to spawn in. Froggler can get food you may need, and in the swamp with the beefy skeletons and the second troll boss is helpful as well
honestly golden whale should be put on the same tier as monkey, cardinal and pazzo, seeing as they all help you unlock/buy items but after that become kinda useless once you unlock everything, somewhere around C maybe?
Personally I think piggy and monkey should be A tier because they can be a HUGE help thru insane playthroughs, piggy especially for necromancer, still loved the video!!
What does monkey do on insane mode, I didn’t even consider insane mode for this, and hawkster definitely influenced all the food animals in the list as he’s just so good, if it was not for hawkster then piggy would be higher for sure
@@Reckerlessmonkeyface increases food drop rate by 3x which includes meat drops. It is on average better health gain than Piggy depending depending on the guaranteed food drops in the level. In solo Hawkster would be better than both if you utilize him to his max potential, but there are many factors that can cause Hawkster to not get as much food like him attacking the wrong enemy as another one is dying or killing an entire group of enemies at once causing him to only get food from one enemy. In multiplayer if multiple players use hawkster, then he will almost always gain more health than any other pet
If it was me, I would have made a separate tier for pets that were created to have a one-time use for a specific thing, as I believe it's unfair to rank them in the tiers with other pets.
Also, I think you should go more in-depth in these videos and consider were you unlock these pets throughout the game, because it's definitely an important element to consider.
I do think Rammy should be in A tier or S tier because he helps with the most annoying part of the game the necromancer, and can be combo with Hawkster where he can just go on the enemies the rammy knocks down
One thing you forgot to mention about Hawkster is that he's very good with XP farming as well. Since he's often pecking at enemies dealing only 1 damage, and each peck counts as 1 xp, you get a lot more xp per enemy
honestly, I never complained about the high jump cat since I defeated the wizard with a character using agility and defense only, it's hilarious how much easier it made the fight
It's really sad how good some of these dudes used to be. Don't get me wrong, I love the buffs that the orbs received, it makes the choice so much more impactful and interesting. But they really left some of them in the dust without new changes, making their measly +1s or niche abilities uterly useless despite being so cute or cool looking.
I don't see how yeti that is useful only for one place in entire game vs Ice king and it can be ignored simply by dodging Ice king's ice power up blast. I would say he is even less useful than sea horse My favourite pet is Ramy. I think he is A tier. His knocking helps quite a lot for crowd control and against big enemies often knocking them down from their feet. Very notable help in Necromancer fight
Let’s gooo W video, I do say by polar (idk how to spell it) is very useful during insane mode because he can deal up to 150 damage to enemies that are low
So I did some number crunching on the polar bear. I tested vs insane mode frost king who has the highest hp in the game, as in theory this would be where you get the most bang for your buck. This is assuming normal light attack damage ***TL;DR*** Polar Bear is actually at its best in coop, where it is imo literally always worth it if you have 4 players. It is also worth using in case where you really don't want to fight a boss when it is at low hp. Now then at lvl 99, maxed stats, and the gold skull mace (highest dps weapon in the game with these stats) and snoot it'd take 1015 hits to kill it. replacing snoot with polar bear means it would take 1027 hits to bring frost King down to the instant kill threshold. Therefore when optimizing for DPS, it is not worth it. If you are instead optimizing for a mix of defense and strength, and using say the club, then things become different. 1087 hits to kill with snoot, 1095 hits to kill with polar bear, 1191 hits to kill with snailbert/spiny. If you are going all in on defense and using the evil sword, the numbers become 1352 with snailbert, 1220 with snoot, and 1243 with the polar bear. Also something worth noting here, is that the burly bear would result in you need exactly 1250 hits, therefore, with burly bear you can get basically the same number of hits required as the polar bear but also get +1 defense. For max level physical builds, polar bear is probably never worth it, except for bosses with really hard final stages, where it is arguably better. Got a few more ideas (causing I just like crunching numbers), so I'll list em here, so you can skip them if you like. What happens if you have lower stats? what happens if you only account for later stages of the boss fight? what about multiplayer? Lets look at that no stat increases insane mode run. Gold skull mace, 1712 hits total with polar bear, 1595 hits with snoot. Basically lower damage means you benefit from snoot more, and polar bear less. Frost King starts stage 2 of his boss fight at ~60% hp, and phase 3 at ~10% hp. What if we assume stage one is so easy its basically free and should not be counted. Therefore Frost King has 30k hp, and dies to Polar Bear at 13.33% health. Well with golden skull and snoot, you have 609 attacks remaining. With Polar Bear you have 581 hits remaining. It is, finally, actually better. There are some other ways to calc this, but if you want to avoid later stages of the fight, polar bear is better. Unless its Evil Wizard, or doesn't have a 2nd phase or even gets easier over time. then polar bear sucks. Ok so what about coop? With 4 players Frost King will have 90000 health. Let's assume all players are level 99, with 25 strength, and all using golden skull mace. We will compare 3 players with snoot and 1 player with polar bear, vs 4 players with snoot. 1827 hits for all snoot 457 hits on average per player. 1720 hits total for 3 snoots, 1 polar bear. 430 hits on average per player. That is a big difference. This makes the true power of the polar bear co-op, despite the team killing. Now you will note that this is basically the absolute best case scenario for polar bear. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure you can't use multiple copies of the same animal orb in multiplayer. Can't find anything on the wiki though. ok doing the math again just in case. This time, same stats, one group has snoot, scratch paw, burly bear, and chicken. The other swaps chicken for polar bear. 1891 hits for no polar bear, 1750 with polar bear. Its worth noting here that in multiplayer you'd probably have more build diversity. Well. What about the worst case scenario in coop? Everyone is level 9 or lower. You are fighting the barbarian boss. No one has put any levels into strength. If everyone is using a -1 strength weapon and still exclusively using melee for some reason? 167 hits without polar bear, 163 with polar bear. Still better.
because of the animals that very rarely do something (and usually for a very small result) me and my friends have an expression to describe things that never happen or are extremely sporadic: "castle crashers' occasionally" like: "does X happens occasionally, or castle crashers' occasionally?"

For Pelter, the only reason I ever even thought about unlocking him was because I thought his projectile would freeze enemies, just to realize it didn't even do that.
I think the best thing about chicken is that it's an easy switch from Seahorse in that one level. You bring in Seahorse for the water, then you find Behemoth in the level like immediately after iirc (I haven't played the level in literal years this is all from memory of what I'd do when I was a kid)
Say what you will about Chickens small boost. But considering you can only have one pet, it reminds me heavily of the Ring of Favor and Protection from Dark souls 1, the tiny 2 ring slots available to the player in that game makes that ring so good. To Conclude: The Chicken of Favor and Protection, is always solid.
Nice list! Personally i think you heavily underrated the giraffe. You gave the golden whale an S for money grinding, but didn’t take that in for xp grinding. I may be biased though, currently on a quest to Gold Skull max level every character sooo

Puts install ball in F tier 5 years later: Hi guys, and our today challenge run is beating the game in insane mode, without upgrades, with my left toe, using only install ball
Giraffe and ram both deserve at least A tier but personally id put them in my S tier. I use the giraffe until I've maxed all my stats before switching. It may only be a 0.1 additional increase to xp per hit but that goes a loooong way when you are melting bosses and juggling groups of enemies. I dont complete the troll boss without at least 3 or 4 level ups.
I think Rammy should be in S teir because if you run across slimes with him its an easy way to farm exp because the slimes don't take knock back and just have the damage applied multiple times
Some pets do small amounts of damage like hawkster but they are way better then the giraffe xp pet because each hit counts as an xp point so for this reason anyone using hawkster levels up way faster than normal, or anything else in the game.
Cant agree with yeti and seahorse pick you mention how seahorse can only be used on two levels then go on to say yeti can only be used on one level but he’s A tier Yeti is very good when resisting the ice don’t get me wrong but it’s the same terminology being used just to throw one in F and the other in A
Because seahorse has a very useless ability, only allowing you to move faster in water when you can just jump through the water to begin with. Yeti has an absolutely amazing ability that makes a boss trivial, thats my thinking anyway :)
One time I use the chicken orb because I was doing an only animal build only animal weapons only animal characters and such and as a funny thing I was doing this with my friends so I chose the bear are used only the chicken items like the orb and the weapon and now I have a founder appreciation for the chicken orb
When I play with bipolar bear in co-op mood and I get low on health he will attack me, instantly killing me on any part of the game even when fighting for the princesses love. And it's the remastered version on the game like I don't remember the bear doing this to me back when the 256 boosting glitch wasn't patched and afterwards
I agree with bi-polar bear rating. The problem is that it happens when the enemy is already practically dead. Maybe if it was 25% it might be more significant but 8% is too close to nothing. Also buddy should be in F tier, digging 2 seconds faster has less uses than jump boosting.
If there was a higher tier than S, Bipolar bear would be in it. The last 5 bosses PLUS the corn boss are such a pain and Bipolar bear finishes them off early

Ram is an easy S tier. Especially useful on a character built mainly for close combat, because he can knock down enemies that spam projectiles.

Fun fact: Hawkster can do crits if you have a weapon that can do crits. It works with other things like that too, like freeze

I personally like scratchpaw, mainly because he is the cutest, but also because it goes well with strength + agility build (always good to have arrows against beefees)
I do disagree with froggler due to my experience in insane mode or the troll boss. In the troll boss when your farming exp, you most likely will just get wobbled in your shield and cant escape but when you wait for more to spawn in. Froggler can get food you may need, and in the swamp with the beefy skeletons and the second troll boss is helpful as well

honestly golden whale should be put on the same tier as monkey, cardinal and pazzo, seeing as they all help you unlock/buy items but after that become kinda useless once you unlock everything, somewhere around C maybe?
but golden whale never outlives his usefulness (for me at least) when i need to farm money for healing, bombs etc.. he comes clutch
Personally I think piggy and monkey should be A tier because they can be a HUGE help thru insane playthroughs, piggy especially for necromancer, still loved the video!!
What does monkey do on insane mode, I didn’t even consider insane mode for this, and hawkster definitely influenced all the food animals in the list as he’s just so good, if it was not for hawkster then piggy would be higher for sure
@@Reckerlessmonkeyface increases food drop rate by 3x which includes meat drops. It is on average better health gain than Piggy depending depending on the guaranteed food drops in the level.
In solo Hawkster would be better than both if you utilize him to his max potential, but there are many factors that can cause Hawkster to not get as much food like him attacking the wrong enemy as another one is dying or killing an entire group of enemies at once causing him to only get food from one enemy.
In multiplayer if multiple players use hawkster, then he will almost always gain more health than any other pet
If it was me, I would have made a separate tier for pets that were created to have a one-time use for a specific thing, as I believe it's unfair to rank them in the tiers with other pets.
Also, I think you should go more in-depth in these videos and consider were you unlock these pets throughout the game, because it's definitely an important element to consider.
I do think Rammy should be in A tier or S tier because he helps with the most annoying part of the game the necromancer, and can be combo with Hawkster where he can just go on the enemies the rammy knocks down
One thing you forgot to mention about Hawkster is that he's very good with XP farming as well. Since he's often pecking at enemies dealing only 1 damage, and each peck counts as 1 xp, you get a lot more xp per enemy
honestly, I never complained about the high jump cat since I defeated the wizard with a character using agility and defense only, it's hilarious how much easier it made the fight
It's really sad how good some of these dudes used to be. Don't get me wrong, I love the buffs that the orbs received, it makes the choice so much more impactful and interesting. But they really left some of them in the dust without new changes, making their measly +1s or niche abilities uterly useless despite being so cute or cool looking.
I don't see how yeti that is useful only for one place in entire game vs Ice king and it can be ignored simply by dodging Ice king's ice power up blast. I would say he is even less useful than sea horse
My favourite pet is Ramy. I think he is A tier. His knocking helps quite a lot for crowd control and against big enemies often knocking them down from their feet. Very notable help in Necromancer fight
Let’s gooo W video, I do say by polar (idk how to spell it) is very useful during insane mode because he can deal up to 150 damage to enemies that are low
Yes I made this list with only normal mode in mind, can definitely see polar bear being much higher for insane!
So I did some number crunching on the polar bear. I tested vs insane mode frost king who has the highest hp in the game, as in theory this would be where you get the most bang for your buck. This is assuming normal light attack damage ***TL;DR*** Polar Bear is actually at its best in coop, where it is imo literally always worth it if you have 4 players. It is also worth using in case where you really don't want to fight a boss when it is at low hp.
Now then at lvl 99, maxed stats, and the gold skull mace (highest dps weapon in the game with these stats) and snoot it'd take 1015 hits to kill it. replacing snoot with polar bear means it would take 1027 hits to bring frost King down to the instant kill threshold. Therefore when optimizing for DPS, it is not worth it.
If you are instead optimizing for a mix of defense and strength, and using say the club, then things become different. 1087 hits to kill with snoot, 1095 hits to kill with polar bear, 1191 hits to kill with snailbert/spiny.
If you are going all in on defense and using the evil sword, the numbers become 1352 with snailbert, 1220 with snoot, and 1243 with the polar bear. Also something worth noting here, is that the burly bear would result in you need exactly 1250 hits, therefore, with burly bear you can get basically the same number of hits required as the polar bear but also get +1 defense.
For max level physical builds, polar bear is probably never worth it, except for bosses with really hard final stages, where it is arguably better.
Got a few more ideas (causing I just like crunching numbers), so I'll list em here, so you can skip them if you like. What happens if you have lower stats? what happens if you only account for later stages of the boss fight? what about multiplayer?
Lets look at that no stat increases insane mode run. Gold skull mace, 1712 hits total with polar bear, 1595 hits with snoot. Basically lower damage means you benefit from snoot more, and polar bear less.
Frost King starts stage 2 of his boss fight at ~60% hp, and phase 3 at ~10% hp. What if we assume stage one is so easy its basically free and should not be counted. Therefore Frost King has 30k hp, and dies to Polar Bear at 13.33% health. Well with golden skull and snoot, you have 609 attacks remaining. With Polar Bear you have 581 hits remaining. It is, finally, actually better. There are some other ways to calc this, but if you want to avoid later stages of the fight, polar bear is better. Unless its Evil Wizard, or doesn't have a 2nd phase or even gets easier over time. then polar bear sucks.
Ok so what about coop? With 4 players Frost King will have 90000 health. Let's assume all players are level 99, with 25 strength, and all using golden skull mace. We will compare 3 players with snoot and 1 player with polar bear, vs 4 players with snoot. 1827 hits for all snoot 457 hits on average per player. 1720 hits total for 3 snoots, 1 polar bear. 430 hits on average per player. That is a big difference. This makes the true power of the polar bear co-op, despite the team killing. Now you will note that this is basically the absolute best case scenario for polar bear.
Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure you can't use multiple copies of the same animal orb in multiplayer. Can't find anything on the wiki though. ok doing the math again just in case. This time, same stats, one group has snoot, scratch paw, burly bear, and chicken. The other swaps chicken for polar bear. 1891 hits for no polar bear, 1750 with polar bear. Its worth noting here that in multiplayer you'd probably have more build diversity.
Well. What about the worst case scenario in coop? Everyone is level 9 or lower. You are fighting the barbarian boss. No one has put any levels into strength. If everyone is using a -1 strength weapon and still exclusively using melee for some reason? 167 hits without polar bear, 163 with polar bear. Still better.
because of the animals that very rarely do something (and usually for a very small result) me and my friends have an expression to describe things that never happen or are extremely sporadic: "castle crashers' occasionally" like: "does X happens occasionally, or castle crashers' occasionally?"
I tend to use Red Knight with Hawkster and they’re both so strong that I never have issues.
Can we get a weapon teir list, and a boss tier list, and an enemy tier list too?

This is a good list some of the one and d tiers you did can be pretty good but I understand why you put them there as they don’t help you much after you have unlocked everything, also I kind of like the troll pet he can be really useful, what was that you were saying about character regen I wasn’t really following
Mr. Buddy should've been F tier, his ability is genuinely useless when you could simply just mash the button like crazy to dig faster.
For Pelter, the only reason I ever even thought about unlocking him was because I thought his projectile would freeze enemies, just to realize it didn't even do that.
Also, Hawkster gives more xp than the giraffe because when he beaks enemies it counts as a hit, giving you xp
I think the best thing about chicken is that it's an easy switch from Seahorse in that one level. You bring in Seahorse for the water, then you find Behemoth in the level like immediately after iirc (I haven't played the level in literal years this is all from memory of what I'd do when I was a kid)
Hawkster also counts as hits for your character… he is a free xp booster WAY better than giraffe.

Say what you will about Chickens small boost. But considering you can only have one pet, it reminds me heavily of the Ring of Favor and Protection from Dark souls 1, the tiny 2 ring slots available to the player in that game makes that ring so good.
To Conclude: The Chicken of Favor and Protection, is always solid.
Nice list! Personally i think you heavily underrated the giraffe. You gave the golden whale an S for money grinding, but didn’t take that in for xp grinding. I may be biased though, currently on a quest to Gold Skull max level every character sooo
So, with Bipolar bear. Since his finisher is based off percentage of remaining health, he is much more helpful for insane mode.

Giraffe and ram both deserve at least A tier but personally id put them in my S tier. I use the giraffe until I've maxed all my stats before switching. It may only be a 0.1 additional increase to xp per hit but that goes a loooong way when you are melting bosses and juggling groups of enemies. I dont complete the troll boss without at least 3 or 4 level ups.

I think Rammy should be in S teir because if you run across slimes with him its an easy way to farm exp because the slimes don't take knock back and just have the damage applied multiple times
rammy is honestly interchangeable, i feel like i can move him around a lot depending on his use
Some pets do small amounts of damage like hawkster but they are way better then the giraffe xp pet because each hit counts as an xp point so for this reason anyone using hawkster levels up way faster than normal, or anything else in the game.
Cant agree with yeti and seahorse pick you mention how seahorse can only be used on two levels then go on to say yeti can only be used on one level but he’s A tier
Yeti is very good when resisting the ice don’t get me wrong but it’s the same terminology being used just to throw one in F and the other in A
Because seahorse has a very useless ability, only allowing you to move faster in water when you can just jump through the water to begin with. Yeti has an absolutely amazing ability that makes a boss trivial, thats my thinking anyway :)
Hawkster is very useful during the Necromancer build up (the 2 waves)
He makes it so you get two food from one enemy (usually)
The fact that you get the zebra in the desert still leaves me confused

One time I use the chicken orb because I was doing an only animal build only animal weapons only animal characters and such and as a funny thing I was doing this with my friends so I chose the bear are used only the chicken items like the orb and the weapon and now I have a founder appreciation for the chicken orb
When I play with bipolar bear in co-op mood and I get low on health he will attack me, instantly killing me on any part of the game even when fighting for the princesses love. And it's the remastered version on the game like I don't remember the bear doing this to me back when the 256 boosting glitch wasn't patched and afterwards
The only reason I don't really like Rammy is because he messes up any stun magic ability, such as red, blue, or pink knight

I agree with bi-polar bear rating. The problem is that it happens when the enemy is already practically dead. Maybe if it was 25% it might be more significant but 8% is too close to nothing. Also buddy should be in F tier, digging 2 seconds faster has less uses than jump boosting.

If there was a higher tier than S, Bipolar bear would be in it. The last 5 bosses PLUS the corn boss are such a pain and Bipolar bear finishes them off early
