If the aed can’t shock someone if your heart is beating fine then why do they always say clear before shocking someone? (Genuinely curious can’t find an answer on google)
@Emmah Sawyer The AED also monitors for a heart beat to determine if a shock is needed. If you are touching the patient you could interfere with the machine and give it a false positive. Also, if a shock is advised it is an electrical current and if it is shocking the patient but you are touching them the shock may travel from their body into yours.

I actually just got certified on June 1st to be a lifeguard, and now I feel very prepared to help someone if needed 🙂
Bravo! This is one of the best episodes ever! Thank you
when i was a CVT in a veterinary ER, I remember having to do CPR on some pretty big dogs. super exhausting, emotionally and physically.
Some day in the future a Mythical Beast will come upon an unresponsive person, remember this and save a life. ❤ Great job R&L.
CPR saved my life once. Thanks guys
So important to learn this! Thanks mythical for the reminder.
I too was born with a CHD and had surgery at weeks old, I’ve very fortunate that I haven’t needed another. This More was awesome :)
