Same, I was nine in January '86 when Running Scared was first on, and it was the first time I'd heard the song so had no idea at the time that it had been recorded by an established singer.
I was in Julia Millbanks' primary school class for a number of years. I clearly remember the casting call at Edmonton Lower School for any pupils interested in acting, I believe it was for the role of Badger Girl, which Julia was chosen to play. Thanks for uploading these episodes... 😁
I remember my mum took me to her friends house on the day of the last episode of this series. We had to leave early to get back in time to see it as I was badgering her so much... I will forever love 'Running Up That Hill', not just for the bass line and originality, but for the first box set I was obsessed with!
Funny to see the earliest version of the ‘broom cupboard’. Come to think of it, the Gordon/Schofield golden era double act always had a more mid/late 80s aesthetic in my minds eye. In Jan 86 it looks a bit like CBBC was still living in 1983 (especially Schofield’s hair!).
Quick question to the poster of this.. The quality is very high for an old VHS recording! Did you originally record these episodes using an S-VHS video recorder, or a standard VHS machine? I remember S-VHS machines in the 1980's being much more expensive, but they delivered a better picture by being able to record with more scan lines than the normal PAL (UK format).
@@vhsgold361 Thank you for getting back to me about this. I must say the quality is great. You must have stored your tapes well over the years! I still have many old VHS tapes, and keep them all upright in their plastic boxes in a dark dry storage area. It has helped preserve them over the years and prevent the dreaded 'white mould' developing inside the cassette cases.
Whenever I hear that Kate Bush song I still think of this
Me too!
The same here not stranger things
I also think back to this show when I hear the Kate Bush single!
