Bach - Partita no. 3 in A minor BWV 827 - Van Delft | Netherlands Bach Society

- The origins of this Partita in A minor, performed by Menno van Delft for All of Bach, lie in “playing alone” in a homely setting, as it is the opening work of the second book of music Bach compiled for his wife Anna Magdalena, in 1725. It is the ideal context for a clavichord. The music itself is also looser in form than usual. Not only does the work begin with a Fantasia, but later on there is an unusual Burlesca (from the Italian bulare: making fun of, mocking), with big leaps for the left hand, which is followed by a Scherzo (from the Italian scherzare: fooling around, joking). So, light-hearted fun for at home.
Recorded for the project All of Bach on May 12th 2018 at the Bartolotti House, Amsterdam. This recording was made possible by the support of Stichting Elise Mathilde Fonds. My Lord, that Scherzo makes you heart pound. NBS performances manage to surprise us over and over. Bravo!
7:52 i love when Bach writes like this, such a beautiful release of tension in rhythm but also that nice little major emphasis before going back to the harmonic progression
Great to hear it on the clavichord ! Thank you very much

Counterpoints of bach is just spiritual❤️❤️❤️
Beautifully played on the clavichord, bravo!
FYI That’s unfretted clavichord after Johann Adolph Hass/Hamburg 1761 made by Geert Karman. Compass FF-f3 (FF-c0 with extra 4' string) ✌🏼you are welcome ;)
The genius of Bach! He writes a few bars for just the left hand at 20:00 to give the performer time to turn the page of the score with his right hand.
That's funny, LOL! Maybe it's the editor's genius?
@@baoluan1288 literally the unsung hero
@@baoluan1288 He was serious! lol
Bach wouldn't do that.
Very expressive! Just as I intended it to be played!
lol This comment should be the top comment :)
Fr , that caught me of guard 😅
Technisch anspruchsvoll? Sie beziehen sich auf die Spieltechnik, richtig?
You seem to use the same verbose template for all your posts. lol
So beautiful! Astonishing!
Outstanding performance! I just started studying this work on organ 🙂
Beautiful played on a good sounds clavichord
A treasure of music history.
Brilliant playing and beautiful sound. Thank you for posting.

Oh heck yes, another clavichord video! 😍
Magistral y Espléndida Ejecución. GRACIAS MAESTRO VAN DELFT
Obrigado...
That scherzo is awesome!
very impressive how he manages to put his shoes on and off while playing
When?
1st movement
Lol
What a treat! Many thanks
Beautifully played. Clavichord!! Exactly how JSB intended this beautiful piece to be played. Can't fake it (Gould it) on a clavichord. Reminds me of how Kipnis played it...
Yawn...
bravo maestro!
Really great interpretation and instrument.
So nice and great thank God bless you
The heavenly sound itself!
Amazing
Very handsome performance. Delightful.
Amazing 😘😃💓
NBS,will you record all partitas? I'd like to hear them all
Bach makes life bearable!
@Damo lol
Genius!!!!
9:19 Van Deft is a superb keyboard player as usual, though the drive here in the last few parts of the Courante is particularly special
Genialny Bach
Sehr schöner Klang dieses Clavichord
Makes a very convincing case for the clavichord as the principal instrument for most of Bach's keyboard music. Especially the partitas and French suites, and most of the WTC. (All of it CAN be played on the clavichord, but in some cases other instruments might seem preferable). Same with the English Suites, which all work on a big unfretted clavichord, but some might choose the harpsichord for some of them. But for cantabile and dynamics (though not power), the clavichord is nonpareil.
Nice Allemande 😁 827 is so solid
NO CONOCIA ESTA SUITE. GRACIAS NETHERLANDS
cool
❤️💕
Looks like it is a clavichord by Geert Karman!
❤
Where is the setting? Its beautiful!
Bartolotti House, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Should’ve named it Partita, I was searching for all partita but couldn’t find this one
definitely not music, just the voice of God
Wonderful! Who made the instrument? What type of clavichord is it? (Manno von Delft mentions several different types in his commentary) On which maker's original is this modern copy based? Thank you.
It looks like a copy of the 1755 Adolf Hass in Copenhagen. I'd also love to know the builder.

@@danielnovvak Thanks for that, Daniel - I thought that it might be a Hass copy - that would be right for Bach.
I suppose, if I say: it sounds better on a piano, a hundred people will attack me, right?
As long as we are not bothered by that music just enjoy it on the piano.
From the Italian word "burlare", not "bulare" 😉
please upload lute works
Scherzo sounds like one of the Scarlatti sonatas
Oh, don't you mean Vivaldi? Bach loved Vivaldi. lol
Dejlig blid og velklingende musik……
🙂🙂🌹🌹☺☺
wonderful interpretation. But for once I think the miking was a touch too close.
Mics too close
