      Still looking good. May be a little rust but still solid where they sit on the ground

    I agree with your comments in the description. The impact is much better than a drill for a whole lot of jobs. Good investment.

    • @OkieRob
      @OkieRob  5 лет назад

      I used to use a drill with bit drivers and thought it worked good. Those impact drivers are 10 times better at putting screws in.

    Oh BTW if the pens are staying next to each other, remove one of the 2 walls, clamp both pens to a common wall, and use the 2 panels to expand one of your coops size at no extra cost!

    The positive side is that it is a quick and fairly easy set up. The negative side (at least for me) is that the holes/spaces are pretty large. I would not be able to raise chicks with a broody in one of those, unless I modified it.

    • @OkieRob
      @OkieRob  5 лет назад +4

      I was concerned with the spaces also, Some 1/2" hardware cloth can take care of that.

    Very nice looking pens! My only concern would be making it safe from the wind and predators.

    • @OkieRob
      @OkieRob  5 лет назад +5

      That is why the coop will be the same size as the pen, so they will have enough room to take shelter. Predators shouldn't be a problem as i will fasten them in the coop at night. My dog will chase any predators off in the day.

    Is it possible to connect both 8x8's together without the dividing wall in the middle ?

    • @OkieRob
      @OkieRob  3 года назад +1

      the only support for the roof would be the clamps on the sides. The middle would not be close enough to use the supplied clamps

    They look pretty sturdy. Great job done showing us how to put them together and what they look like built. Like ya said for the cost it was better to buy the kits instead of building them. Hope you have a great rest of the week buddy!

    We looked at one of these at Tractor Supply 2 weeks ago. I think we are going to get 2 and connect them together for turkeys. Are you planning on any hardware clothe around the coop itself for predators? These are great. We have a 10 x 10 with a pvc framed top and cover...dog kennel. It has held up great...looks brand new but it's 4 years old. Only used for a couple months while transitioning to our new place here.

    • @OkieRob
      @OkieRob  5 лет назад +2

      If i put any hardware cloth on, it will only be 2 ft. around the bottom.

  • @notsheeple2019

    They look like they will last a while. with them being metal I know you can repair them if needed in the far future. I guess you will build an 8x8 coop for them to roost in. Will you bend some reed bar to drive in the ground to keep them in place or have you thought of another idea. Glad you found a solution that was quick and easy. It would have taken you several weeks to fabricate them in your shop and they would have been heavy.

    • @OkieRob
      @OkieRob  5 лет назад +1

      I have'n't thought that far ahead. Yea, if i built it out of metal it would be HEAVY. lol

    This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "chicken box" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Machaaldity Coop Blaster - ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my colleague got great success with it.
