This Intermediate level "ChalkTalk" features a rhythm strip from the ICU. The patient is in atrial fibrillation, but suddenly develops a "flatline." What happened? Did the wire fall off? Learn how to approach ECG strips from a physiologic standpoint so you can read ECGs that don't look like the textbook.
Dr. Nicholas Tullo, a heart rhythm specialist, will show you all the tips and tricks you need to read basic and complex rhythm strips and 12-lead ECGs.

Very good question. It's likely that there is some intrinsic disease in the Purkinje system. In those circumstances, an idioventricular rhythm might take quite a few seconds to "get going." Thanks for the compliment!

The QRS appears to have the same morphology, meaning that it appears to come from the same AV nodal source. How come the ventricles didn't come in during that 3.9 seconds and initiate a ventricular escape rhythm? Love your videos, BTW.
