Back then if you have the best bot, you are competing with all the other bots, and quite fast someone develops a faster one with improved results.
You need constantly to adapt & improve.
Same is true today.
As you might imagine, this is not a good way to check for bots.
Anyone seeing a knife for 11$ would definently buy it as fast as possible.
A good-ish way to test this would be to list 2 knifes/gloves for buff market price with different floats (like 0.15 and another with 0.36) and see if there's a difference in the time it takes to be bought.
Another way would be with items with stickers, listing the same item with 4x good stickers, 4x bad stickers and no stickers and see if there's a difference in buy time.
Even then, it's still a bad test because if the item is liquid enough an average trader would know a rough estimate of it's price and if it's a really liquid item with a really good float it would most likely be bought within seconds.
I accidentally listed my 0.15xxx float skin instead of my higher float skin and unlike how long it took for all the identical in every way other than the float skins (it is listed slightly above the lowest sell order) it was instantly bought before I could delist it. Definitely float sniping bots on steam market.
The devs of the site probably have system where if an item is priced so cheap they will snipe it themselves but use a burner account to get it insteadl

My first thought after learning about sniping bots: Imagine a virus/hack that gets into any of those computers, changes the bot to buy idk p250 sand dunes at 50k a pop. Boom. Destroyed. I also find it hard to base a sticker price on an item. The sticker has its own price as it is rare, once used...well it's there forever or until someone scratches it off. I have a $1 ak with $20 worth of stickers on it and I have never had the audacity to put it on the market for $20.

yeah I hate these market bots buying your stuff for too low it shouldn't be allowed and should be bannable in some way, it's just unfair that people are making money off mistakes others make, it shouldn't be a thing in the first place it's like scamming someone with an agreement because he accepted to list his item for too low. the only thing that should be allowed, is manual sniping so you won't do it automatically.
