Do you have any video's of a cam synchronizer replacement on this same engine? I have been looking for my synchronizer for 4 months now and still can't find it???
I just did this this job ended up being a bit of a nightmare. The puller bolts were to short and needed 8mmx1.25x100mm long. After installing the dorman harmonic balancer I started getting misfire codes P0300 P0303 p0304. I changed out the crank sensor and spark plugs. I ended up pulling the balancer back off and found that the pickup teeth for the sensor were bent on the new balancer. Make sure to check your new one before install. I just wanted to share this info for others.
I have always liked 1A Auto videos. Usually more professional than many of the DIYers. But you guys need a bit more info on this one. 1. The crank angle sensor removal 2. The store bought crank tools have short 80mm 8x1.25 bolts. And most hardware stores don't sell the 90mm or longer bolts needed for this deep balancer. Where do you get them? Otherwise this was a great video as usual.
excellent video. not rushed, clear audio.one step I would add is start the engine and check for correct belt tracking as soon as the belt is back in place. Thanks for the production.Worth mentioning is the fact that starter removal is not necessary if vehicle has manual transmission
My engine is in my truck (not on an engine stand). I don't have an impact wrench. When I go to loosen the crank bolt (using a breaker bar), will I be able to use the belt to keep the engine from rotating counterclockwise? Please advise. Many thanks!

Need to change oil pan gasket and front Crank seal, this vid helped greatly. Thank you.
Helped me out! Thanks ! One question, did this truck have a sensor.? Only thing I didn’t see put on. 👍
What size bolts do you use to put into the harmonic balancer puller
Most mechanics put sealant or grease on keyway to keep it from leaking oil on the keyway
My balancer was so torn that it ruined the holes so I had to use 2 different pullers. Lucky I was at work and had the correct tools

If you have Air and a 1/2" impact you don't need to take the starter off...
I installed mine and heard a chirping, is this due to bad installation?
What thread pitch are the two bolts you use eith the puller?
Good job really good information thank you 1 A auto keep it going for a good time

How do I find TDC on the Ford Ranger?
Palm wratchet works 👍🏽
+@budjordan3803 Thanks for the feedback!
what size hardware to thread into balancer to use with puller? I have tried 1/2-20, 1/2-13, 3/8-16, 3/8-24 and all are either too big or too small.
5/16 - 18 on Ranger 1999, 2.5L, 4cyl.
What should I do if it’s rusted on
Pull the starter? No thanks. Get a GOOD strap wrench and put it on the crank pulley.
Can I keep the starter on? mine is impossible to remove
If you have a manual leave in gear
How far does that seal go in for the crankshaft seal
what happen if you rotate the balancer.... is that bad
There is a flywheel locking tool that bolts onto the starter mount location . Remove the starter and install the locking tool in its place.
Nice thanks..
19mm crank pulley bolt. YW
Why does my balancer start to crank when I try removing it
you have to jam a screwdriver into your flywheel where you took the starter out to keep it from spinning.
@@gitar1hero1qaz is it bad if the balancer rotates
pulling the starter? naa.
