    I have the BTs version on stable speaker stands, connected to a 10” powered sub, hard wired to my iPad via the Apple dongle DAC into the Line 1 RCA input, playing ALAC files (ripped from CDs) and Spotify. This is my main personal music system, set up in my medium sized bedroom with soft furniture.
    Speakers are placed “optimally” (I watched a number of RUclips videos on this subject), toe in adjusted for good soundstage. Very, very nice sound! I’m no audiophile, but I’m pretty pleased 😊
    My advice for these is to spend time on speaker placement and do the “sub crawl”; you will be well rewarded for this effort.

      so without sub is the bass good? or do you feel like you need sub?

    • @gearupaaron
      @gearupaaron  9 месяцев назад +4

      Depends on how much bass you need. I find it good enough without it, but a sub definitely helps.

    • @roberthudson4440
      @roberthudson4440 7 месяцев назад +2

      You put the sub in your listening chair and then crawl around on the floor to see where it sounds best. Sounds odd, but it is simply a way to reverse engineer the best placement for the sub. It works every time.

    One thing to change is your title. This is the R1700BTs which is different from the BT. The BT doesn't have an output for a sub and is older and lacks some of the features. Both are available too

    Nice overview of these speakers. Just got them and they do sound good. I have a Polk subwoofer from a surround system that I'm waiting on a longer 3.5mm to the RCA's to hook up. That should complete what I'm looking for, setting up a turntable where my "office" is. Also, being able to do BT from my phone and/or computer is awesome. I have the speakers set up high currently, need to explore better placement. Great review, thank you.

    Nice video but i'm sorry, you made so many terrible mistakes when specifying stats of the speaker. Please do better for checking stats next time as you are fully wrong on multiple specs.
    1- They are the 1700BTs not BT.
    2-Not 65 watt peak power, 66 watt rms instead. Peak power is not even specified and can be estimated at anywhere between say 70 and even 132 watts. We dont know no ones tested.
    3- They are not 6.6 kilograms each. Both together weigh 6.6 kg. How do you even say this when you have held the products in the first place. They def dont feel 6 kg each.
    4- Not a big deal but the volume knob is not analog in its workings, its digital. Meaning that the knob can be spun infinetely in each direction, also allowing the speakers to be used with the included remote. Both the knob and remote change the same volume stepper.

Initially I thought the same "the bass could use a bit more kick" until I noticed that instruments were completely missing with some songs due to the lack of bass. For this I think they are useless without a subwoofer. I have can size speakers with tons of bass, ok not for audiophiles but even my macbook has more bass than these speakers.

    Junk. Save a bit more and get some real speakers. I bought and returned these.
