FILM DESCRIPTION:
Hutch Mansell fails to defend himself or his family when two thieves break into his suburban home one night. The aftermath of the incident soon strikes a match to his long-simmering rage. In a barrage of fists, gunfire and squealing tires, Hutch must now save his wife and son from a dangerous adversary -- and ensure that he will never be underestimated again.

Always like it when "retired assassin" types actually enjoy the civilians life but this movie does a great job of showing that while he loves and cares for his family, part of him misses the violence.
Poor Hutch, he yearned for the normal life of a civilian and got exactly what he wanted. Yet he was never truly happy because he knew deep down this wasn't who he really was. Burning down his house was like the end of a happy dream.
Burning his house down the way he always intended was like an alcoholic popping a bottle after 30 years and his divorce starting. The car chase scene he was HOPING would happen was a kin to a junkie strapping up again after fixing his whole entire life but then saying F it, this is how I WANT to go out. I love John wick movies for sure, but I FELT this one.
He's a reverse John Wick basically
I love the thought that he acquired all of those vinyl records trying to be a normal guy, but in the back of his head he also knew that they are great for starting a fire, keeping it going, and making it burn hot. The word "designed" to burn shows how his real self was still there behind the façade. Fantastic writing.
To be fair, basements are essentially the highest level of fire protection encountered in a building if we go by most european standards.
This is quiet literally a matter of design regardless of his collection.

i like scenes like this when they play calming music like this over some disaster or something horrible is going on
One scene that always haunted me was number 9 because there’s a scene with a guy screaming as some calm peaceful music is played, terrifying

I think this is more of an end to his mid life crisis, which in his case was civilian married life

Russian gangsters going around shooting puppies and stealing kitty cat bracelets.
I mean, he still managed to take down a russian crime boss so he could prevent more people from getting hurt, so in the end he still did the right thing.
no, the movie happened because he wanted some action for his life, the trouble with the russian mob had no connection with the bracelet thing
He was CRAVING excitement in his life. That was probably the main reason. The bracelet just tipped him over the edge.
He bored them to death, literally.

I like to think they had multiple copies of that album, and he chose to hide that one away

Just realised that the Kitty Kat bracelet was the key to the whole film and the reason Hutch got back in the game. If his daughter hadn't dropped it under the sofa he would never have gone out to find the burglars and then gotten on the bus...

Tremendously good writing I will watch this movie again and again and it makes my heart happy to see older actors with the maturity to carry out a little humor in a very tense scene Damn good writing

To my knowledge, Chrysler never offered a 4.9 l V8..., But Hey I won't argue with nobody!!
If it was a 273 it would be close to 4.9 litres if it was bored out but still not available after 1969 and that car is definitely a 1970 to 74 Challenger
@@notdustinschatz9357 I believe the max over bore on a 273 is 40 over, and at said bore, if I'm accurate, is 286 cubic inches... Roughly 4.7 lites of displacement.

These new better action movies such as Nobody, John Wick etc. really made the genre enjoyable by everyone. They managed to add art into it and make the cheese not only palatable but enjoyable. They threw away the fake, not even technically cheese, American cheese and replaced it with some mouth watering cheddar or some rich gorgonzola with depth of flavour. The genre may still have that cheesiness but it's not off putting anymore. I'm grateful to people who set a standard by producing these masterworks.

When I seen this part.... I knew it was CLASSIC. ( placing the needle on the album with the gun barrel ) ... and then the spiraling flame with the villains cooking on the sofa as he walks out of the smoke. ( what a wonderful world??? ) Come on man! CLASSIC!

The part where the old man sees the two ace of spades tattoo on his left wrist, thanks him and leaves, then locks the others in the room with him after thanking him for his service. That is 'ceasar' you are watching.

My Favorite Movie
That white muscle at the end of the video is a 1972-1974 model Dodge Challenger and Dodge Challengers are my favorite muscle cars.
It is very much like a Vanishing Point Dodge Challenger.
It's either a 73 or 74, can't tell which.

My car in HS was a 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger w/340 and after graduation I sold it and bought a 1970 Dodge Challenger w/383 Magnum. Traded that straight across for a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner w/440 magnum - Tunnel Ram, dual 850 Holley Double Pumpers through the Air Grabber opening...what a damn car that was. I have never seen a Challenger with the 318. If I had had a muscle car with a 318, I would never have bragged about it.
The amount of love that I have for this movie just made me to realize how unstable I really am.

lol right? I own an xk8 so having a jag obsession from this time period it was exciting seeing the s-type, hardly ever see s type r’s around though, but even the 4.2 is good enough, can’t lie I would take the challenger over the s-type in this situation though

I assumed the weapons were rigged to be "silent". They sounded muffled. I doubt pros like that would go in drawing attention with noise.
This movie is a joyride of action
I like to think that action movies are going to get better again, like they were back in the day. We have good examples like Equalizer, Nobody, the John Wick series, etc.
The bad thing about this movie is the fact that it ends.

It could have the 301 or it could have been a swapped motor
@@christophersauter9617 The smallest V8 ever offered in the challenger was the 5.2 and Chrysler only made a 4.9 301 between 1955 and 1958 which would have never found it's way into a fully restored 1974 challenger. More than likely, someone made a typo, and no one was savvy enough to point it out.
