I love u for this !!!
My man!
THX YOU SO MUCH
Appreciate you still giving great content over a year in, and updating us!
8 months since full release
I’ve got over 700hrs in BG3 and got my golden die and I still watch every build video you make even though I’m playing DD2 at the moment. I just love your vibe and content so much that I tune in even when I’m not actively playing the game still! Keep up the excellent work sir! I have learned a ton from all of your vids and I will continue to watch and support your work.
I love your guides. I've been following them for a while and I find them so well put together. you are very articulate and explain all the why's in a super idiot-friendly way (I'm the idiot). also, your voice is great to listen to while having to work. great job all around, thanks for doing it :)
Clerics are so good, I can't imagine a playthrough without one of some variation. Great video!
Thanks for this update! I'm about halfway through an Honour mode run with your previous Shock and Awe build for Shadowheart, things are going well so far, and I'm eager to check my build against these new guidelines.
What a great build my friend, as usual. Appreciate your insight and work on these builds.
Always the man to go to, thank you for explaining everything in detail. You’re doing great!
Awesome guide as usual, hoping to see more classes in the future.
BACK AT IT AGAIN 👏👏 MY MAN
I could listen to you reading some random shit and it would still be quality content man. Love the way you narrate those build guides, not to mention their sheer value in viability for this fantastic game. Pretty much my sole source of BG3 build inspiration for my playthroughs. Thank you kindly for creating them all, I deeply appreciate this,.
Yo I second this! Every word of it!
Would love to see a tier list or recommendation on best classes/multiclasses to solo honor mode with, love the content keep it up!
Hey Cephalo, thank you for this build. I've nearly 900 hours in this game and completed deathless honour mode runs, but with some classes I just don't play them very well. I wanted to include a Temptest Cleric in my Tactician run - along with a Padlock, a Longbow Swords Bard and Karlach to throw water at enemies - and fights take so long and I need to rest quite a lot. Gale,, who is my Cleric, felt like dead weight.
This guide helped me to play a lot better, so thank you - for your videos and for making it easier for me to enjoy the game in other ways than those I know. I really appreciate it.
This looks really good.
I'm going to re-spec Shart when I get into the game later.
Thanks!
GREAT VIDEO, barely getting into the game and I appreciate the explanation for everything
Love the update vids for party characters.
Thanks, so useful as usual
Love these
This build man, Shadowheart can carry so much . Act 2 battle against waves of enemies was breeze with her
I am planning out a half-orc (or perhaps a duergar??) bitter drunk of a Tempest Cleric of Talos and while I'm leaning more melee centric to embrace the Punch Drunk Bastard I greatly appreciated this exhaustive exploration of the Tempest Cleric as it's given me some food for thought in my own choices and tweaks I'll need to make. Thank you!
Cool build, It would have taken me ages to figure out how to make something effective like this. Using this with a storm sorcerer has been a good time, so much aoe damage.
Great advice but one extra point: Very important equipment for clerics is anything that can restore your 6th level spell slot: Spell crux Amulet, Markoheshkir, and Staff of Spellpower. This is even more useful for clerics than wizards (or others) because any good Wizard 6th level spell can be cast from scrolls, but the two best 6th level Cleric Spells have no scrolls (Heroes Feast and Planar Ally). after lvl 11 I always start with Planar Ally, replace the slot, and then Heroes Feast (after any other summons are cast).
Note: The only NoScroll 6the level wizard spell I use is upcast Conjure Elemental (there us a 5th level scroll for that but i don’t think you can upcast a scroll). so ill replace that slot too but its less critical since 6th level Wizard-spell scrolls are readily available in Act 3.
Very true! Having both the summon and the heroes' feast is incredible value, so refreshing those is awesome, and great points about the scroll access
@@Cephalopocalypse thanks for the quick response. Generally I think the impact of scroll availability is overlooked. and some youtubers say they don’t use them in combat at all because that’s “broken.” I think that’s an interesting “house rule” and essentially a higher difficulty level. i agree it would be better if scroll casting was limited in some way or by end game you don’t need a caster at all if you have the right Ability Scores.
but even just scroll scribing (not casting) has a big impact on Wizard builds because some spells have no Scrolls at all which prevents even scroll scribing out of combat. Eg counterspell and shield cannot be scribed so far as I know.
love these build guides
Great build as always! If I have one build request for you, is to have a shart build that features the Dark Justiciar set, including Shar's spear. I want to see your take on a Strength-based Paladin of Shar build that uses Shar's spear's immunity to darkness. Thank you so much for the vids!
I'm adoring these build guides. You know what I'd weirdly love to see? It would probably be unviable af for Honour Mode, but I'd LOVE to see a build guide for wild magic sorc and/or wild magic barbarian :D
I have seen a honour mode run of only dealing damage when throwing rats/hamsters so pretty sure you can make wild magic work well enough
Games like BG3 that have this level of general freedom mean you can make any build work if you want it badly enough.
Wild magic sorc is really fun and 100% viable but I recommend you play horc so if your wild magic blue-on-blues you it's not an instant run-ender
Was tactician not honor but I had a pretty enjoyable Wild Magic Barbarian Blade lock for the most charismatic rages
Looking at all the break points for a Barbarian/Sorcerer multiclass there just simply isn't too much synergy... with that being said, Baldur's Gate isn't that difficult when you begin to understand it, and that's exactly why I'm trying out this multiclass! I'm probably going for 5 levels of Wild Magic Barbarian for extra attack and the rest of the 7 levels in Wild Magic Sorcerer just to get as many spell slots (including level 4 spells) as I can. I figure it'll be more than fine and not really cost the team excessively much.
Very helpful, compared to most BG3 videos that just spout info whithout explaining why.
thank you so much, this is so helpful!
Awesome, glad it helped!
cool that you have both a "min/max" spec and a sustainable version of ability scores!
Every playthrough after my first I’ve redone Shadowheart as Tempest Cleric. But I didn’t realize could start out as sorcerer and still wear heavy armor (or my favorite, the luminous armor)-thank you for that tip!
You still get Sub-Class Armor and Weapon proficiency features when you multiclass, just not Class features. Cleric just happens to get their subclass at level 1.
Can someone please explain to me how to multiclass? I'm just arriving into act 3 and not quite sure how to do it. I'm able to respec with the old dead dude, but can't figure out how to throw a level or two into another class to get the perks!
@@montanamattI believe it only works on Balanced difficulty and above. If you're playing on at least Balanced, then there should be a button in the top right or left (I forget which) of the first window in the level up screen
@@Ic3B4g ahh thank you
@montanamatt in case you haven't got this sorted, look at the bottom of the new level up screen. Instead of choosing the topclass, select add another class
1 level of wizard can be pretty nice late game if you are using the staff of cherished necromancy. Free circle of death every couple turns is a pretty nice alternative to upcasted inflict wounds. You can use a transmuters stone for con proficiency as well. If there’s no other dps caster in your party I think this is pretty strong once you reach level 12.
Yasss something to loop while I sleep and then listen in the car ride to work 😂
3 classes give con bonus. Fighter you get heavy armor and all weapons with con. Barbarian will give the most hit points as a dip. Soc shield and magic missile and either fly or the bonus spell from dragon ancestry.
@13:10 command drop causes the enemy to drop their weapon, you’re thinking of grovel
Yesssss. I just hit 5 on my new Shadowheart run.
Thanks!
Thanks so much again! I really appreciate all your support!
Warning: Despite Re Specing Shadowheart, you may still see her miss everything. This is intended, as she is always coded to miss attacks when it won’t result in a broken screen.
lol when I first started playing I made a Reddit post asking this as she would miss all the damn time…..
Please explain broken screen.. is Shadowheart less effective than a Tav with same spec?
I noticed a lil loophole. My warlock was pact of blade, made a pact weapon. Then switched them to pact of chain. The weapon “a 2 hand sword “ still is able to be used by the chain warlock.
You could, instead of going sorcerer, take a later level in wizard if you want to scribes scrolls for lighting bolt or chain lightning for flavor. You’d need some points in INT for save dc’s but a very fun 1 lvl dip.
I tend to turn Shadowheart into a Paladin because I end up playing a Cleric more often than not, but I feel like she acts very 'martial' for a Trickery Domain Cleric, Oath of Vengeance seems on brand for her, especially since she always leans towards fanaticism. Also the best Cleric domain is Nature, obviously! My halfling Nature Cleric thwacks his way through Faerun very effectively, and with all the animals and Druids that join the campaign it never felt like the wrong choice
So do you only use the Coruscation Ring for applying Radiant Orb? Dwarven Splint means no Luminous Armor, and Hellwalker's Pride/Reviving Hands means no Radiant Gloves. Only the ring remains. I feel like one other is needed for Radiant orb to work.
Great guide! but can you make guides for the other subclasses? I keep seeing for this specific subclass but not for the others
I've done several! I have guides up for light and nature as pure clerics, as well as life in a number of multiclass builds, and trickery in shadowheart's lore-friendly build. War and knowledge I've mostly used as 1-level dips, but will likely do more extensive dives at some point
I really like going 6 eldritch knight fighter and 6 tempest cleric extra attack adds a lot of consistency and Channel divinity can be used with Markoheshkir to great effect. My general idea is to Create water > action surge > chain lightning and then on my next turn I will use sleet storm or spirit guardians and start melee fighting
Do you recommend going pure cleric with war caster or go 1 level into sorc and just go alert + 18 wisdom?
The best weapon for Tempest Cleric is Markoheshkir. You get a Chain Lightning cast for free every short rest, and you can max the damage on that with the Channel Divinity. I two-shot the final boss with that setup and got my golden dice.
I think it’s probably a good idea on his part to not recommend these BiS weapons that are obviously powerful for a broad play style. Markoheshkir is pretty in demand for any max caster builds really, and Cleric sustains itself well enough as it is without Marko that I’d rather have it on a pure dps caster like the lightning lord. It is definitely the BiS though.
@@Bodehi_The_Archivistthe reason it’s BiS is because of the buff which pairs with anyone doing elemental damage right?
It's true! I avoided mentioning it for this guide because I wanted to keep it as spoiler free as possible since it's aimed at a pretty wide audience, but that will obviously be best in slot in the lategame, and tempest cleric is the best user.
Finished honor mode yesterday and got my golden dice after 500hrs played. Never finished a run on tactician so will run through that with a full dps crew and see how fast I can kill enemies.
I am considering a Cleric/Fighter mix with Spirit guardians and sentinel with a polearm to trap enemies in place. Normally use at least 11 lvls of cleric but I do miss the 2 attacks and want to be able to hit things with all my characters so going to change things up.
29:45 I almost can feel that sadness about missing true strike joke opportunity xD
Don't worry, we got there in the end ;)
@@Cephalopocalypse Yeah, it got me =) I was like "wait, sorc sc? could it be?.. Yeeeah!"
Hi, noob question here ... I have not been playing that long, first playthrough and still act 1 and all party are level 5. This was my first effort at respeccing any of them and having done so, am a bit confused about the battle rotations. The AOE effects from Shadowheart of Ice or fire would seem to then limit the options of the melee members of my group? Or am I missing something?
I always set my shadowheart to light cleric with radiating orb, reverb, encrusted with frost gear and she absolutely destroys everything. She just sneezes on you and you get 6 stacks of radiating orb and 4 stacks of reverb making their attacks miss or do almost no damage. No enemy in the game can deal with 10 stacks of radiating orb, which is very easy to achieve with this build.
Have you made a tier list with all the subraces? Would be very useful, for players who want to do solo runs or get the most out a build. Duergar would be 10 times better than a human for example.
Console player here. I can confirm produce flame is annoying as hell on console. It doesn’t give you both the option to dismiss and throw the flame in the sub menu for some reason. Whichever one isn’t there you have to manually place each time which gets annoying as it’s most often the throw option. This also occurs with every time you want to reapply hunters mark if you’re not a ranger and speak with dead. I have no idea why this happens.
I hope Twilight Domain eventually gets into BG3. It makes the most sense for Shadowheart thematically and is one of the stronger domains also.
New sub here, loved the video
Thanks very much! Welcome
Cleric sure is versatile. I think my favourites are Tempest for burst damage, Nature for utility and Knowledge for passive skill checks/cantrip builds.
Light is also really good, but I've got to admit, I think for 95% of the time, the reaction is a fluff ability. I guess that can be said for others, but I don't like how full blastery the spell list is. I usually play with a second caster so that could be why :)
🔥🔥🔥
What about 1 level in Sorc for Con proficiency and then 11 tempest cleric (for divine intervention)? Or is it better to just do all 12 in cleric? I know 10 storm sorc, 2 tempest is strong but then SH needs Charisma
Hey ceph, assuming my main character was also a Storm sorcerer with some multiclass into Cleric and a level in Wiz. Would this ShadowHeart build work alongside with mine? Or would I need a more tanky/Supporty version of ShadowHeart? In the end I'm pretty sure you can make anything work but just out of curiosity trying to fill in the balance of a standard party.
As always, great guide. FYI Clerics are not unique in getting subclass at level 1 (Paladin, Sorcerer, Cleric, Warlock all get first level subclass; clerics just get the best level 1 features by a lot.),
[level 2: druid, Wizard]
[level 3: fighter, rogue, barbarian, ranger, bard, monk --every martial class except paladin, plus bard]
Funny thing I just noticed, if you do the sorcerer dip at level 1 you're not profficient with simple weapons, so you can't use spears and maces
I'm curious what you think about Lightning charges on a character like this?
you had a light cleric in your video about the best party composition.....does that still stand or does Tempest overtake it now?
you don't need 16 dexterity, leave it at 10 and wisdom at 17, level 4 buy alert, it's necessary in any play in honor mode, get the witch's hair, Shar doesn't care.. level 8 put wisdom at 2 and stay At 20, level 12, get war caster for concentration and reaction that combines with storm cleric.
I just reached level five and only have 9 spells i can prepare, what do i replace for level 3 spells?
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
27:53 Aid is a level 2 spell, casting it at level 4 is 15 HP, you need a 5th spell slot for 20 HP.
Woops, that's right of course
Isn't a light cleric still stronger then tempest or are they about the same?
I just noticed... your pfp is the old ward item from league of legends? How did I not notice, I used to main lee sin what in the world
I made her as my light cleric in your other video which is better?
Doesn’t the armor you are using give you advantage on constitution saving throws?
Where is it that you're making camp there? I don't think I've ever seen that particular place.
Can Larian please fix the produce flame interface issue on PS5 I struggle with it all the time
At level 5 my shadow heart has only 8 prepped spells to your 9 I’m confused by that
All the clerics. My Tav is light cleric. Shadowheart is tempest cleric. Karlach being vengeance paladin, and Astarion a pure monk. Stumbled upon this since I was looking to implement, check this out, a third, melee cleric instead of a monk, possibly a war cleric or something along that. And they are all monoclass. Just for shenanigans.
My eternal Cleric struggle is always whether or not I want to use the Orbs/Reverb gear or buff on heal gear lol.
I tend to stick with the Orbs plus Volo's Ring until the Radiant armor gets outclassed towards the end of Act 2, then all in on Reverb.
Life cleric + wapiras crown, whispering promise, hellriders pride, boots of aid + comfort, ring of salving for act 1 until u get luminous armour and holy lance helm, then respect into light cleric, Add on reverb items + blood of lathander - broken in act 2 vs undead. Ive stuck with orb byild til endgame, but for act 3 poss respec into storm sorcery / tempest cleric + lightening items 😊
Bedankt
Thanks so much for the support! I really appreciate it :D
Why Tempest over Light domain for this kind of build? Isn't tempest better for a more offensive oriented build?
Fire bolt does not need to be any good at doing single target damage. Where it comes in useful is for blowing up barrels or setting fire to oil etc.
I think jini beats the deva. Devas mace may be strong butnit has low hit chance. Deva also lacks elemental warp and altogh smite may be a good attack, thunder wave and drunken inhale have some useful effects and target more than one enemy
I love it
Thanks!
What does spiritual weapon replace?
Low key Nature is excellent on Shadowheart, gives amazing crowd control capabilities
Check out my nature cleric guide from last week!
Can we play Solo with this build?
My Dark Urge just killed my Shadow Heart in an Honour Mode run after she spared the Nightsong 😭😭😭
So I’m confused. With the prepared spells, do we have to rest to get them back? And if so am I short/long resting after each encounter?
At the moment I’m sitting on the spells for boss fights and using the spammables in normal fights getting obliterated.
Yes, you have to rest to get your spells back - for a cleric, they refresh when you long rest. You don't have to rest after every encounter - you shouldn't usually need more than a couple spell slots per fight, so you can take several fights before resting.
@@Cephalopocalypse much appreciated. My wife and I Started following your brotato builds and here I am again for BG3 small world!
Torn on whether a healing focused or damage focused cleric is better… so many broken options between reverb/orb/heal stacking, or just going all in on a lightning damage focused cleric and taking a wizard level for lightning bolt/chain lightning is better
Depends on the role you have for the cleric. If you want a controller/tank, then light cleric rev/orb is the way to go. If you want a blaster caster, than tempest + evocation wiz or storm/lightning sorc is the way to go. If you want a healer + archer, go ranger + life domain cleric.
Question...If you do that one level into Sorcerer, do you need to bring charisma up to 10 or can you still tank it to 8 ???
You can just leave it at 8! You won't take any sorcerer spells that actually use your charisma so there's no need for it
Is the spell saving gimmick fixed? As in going wiz 1 then cleric and learning all the spells through scrolls. Also, great guides.
Nope, you can still learn all the wizard spells with one level of wizard on any caster. Thanks!
Why does it look like your PC is running 10fps..?
First, I think it's funny that people find that you're taking true strike annoying, but which is better warding flare or shield. If you are a light cleric, you shouldn't need shield, right?
Shield is stronger, because you get to see their roll and you know if it will work. It does cost a spell slot though.
@@meekrab9027 thanks
Noob question of the year but.. My shadowheart is lvl 4, and I have access to 8 spells - I also have access to Cure Wounds in my spellbook even though I followed this guide and didnt take it. My brain is confused
as a console player i can guarantee that hurl flame is the worst on console.
its a easy fix that they could have don't. by making a second spell to produce and hurl flame in one move.
currently when you produce flame. a new temp spell is created, which doesn't get added to your wheel. meaning that you have to go to a empty slot customize it. find the spell then use the spell.
then the spell disappears so you have to do that all over again.
it was supposed to be in a sub wheel/option/folder when you select produce flame. but that doesn't happen 9/10 times for me. so i have to do through those hoops to use produce flame.
having to double your input is already annoying let alone quad it.
Another one.
I would really love to see a 12 level eldritch knight build if possible!
I mean it's probably doable since eldritch knight can just run a throw build
@@e-duh3529true. It was sad when I started running Eldritch knight and realized returning pike made the throwing portion of pact weapons obsolete
@@kingofgrim4761 well at some point you might want something stronger than returning pike and that's where multiclassing into eldritch knight comes in. You also get some really neat lvl1 utility spells so that's that
@@e-duh3529 I guess that’s fair enough. Idk I found that karlach (or could’ve been lae’zel) hitting 2-3 throws per turn for ~22 damage was more than enough until the trident in act 3, and this was on honor mode.
@@kingofgrim4761not being tied to specific weapons has been really nice for me, let me use the skull staver for Grym and the Lightning Jabber for most of act 2.
Can anyone confirm if spirit guardian procs the coruscation ring?
Pretty sure it does, playing a radiating/reverb cleric build now
One does not simply play a Tempest Cleric without picking create water lol
Will supplant the original as your most successful video I wonder 🤔
Seems unlikely! That one's over 300k views at the moment (which is pretty insane to think about!)
@@Cephalopocalypse Thoroughly well deserved my friend! No other build guides come close to what you produce!
Produce flame works fine on console 🤷🏻♂️
Peoduce flame is terrible to deal with if you use a controller
Yeah why does Hurl Flame constantly disappear and need to be reset to the wheel?
So I've heard!

Never use bless on a cleric steal Volo’s ring that gives bless every time you heal an ally including potion throwing
Bless hits your ither 3 allies plus later on you can get a ring and a helmet that cam heal you each turn and activate the ring. You want volos ring one someone who does lots of attacks anyway.
Also you don't want to waste level 3 spell slotnin mass healing word. You only want to use that spell to pick up multiple downed allies. I suppose it depends on diffculty and how much younrest tho
