I realize that this won't be very popular, but the all white Crimson Tide uniforms (& the white helmets) were friggin AWESOME!!!... I understand that our Bama fan base is all about our tradition, and i love it as well...But it would not hurt my feelings at all if we broke out those white helmets from time to time...Especially against other teams that have similar helmets (Oklahoma, Miss State, Texas A&M, etc)...Now im gonna go run and hide because im likely to be bombarded by my fellow Crimson Tide fans.
Walter Lewis and another QB by the name of Reggie Collier from Southern Mississippi were ahead of their time. If they were playing QB today, they'd be hot commodities. Unfortunately, the NFL didn't know what to do with them back in the early 80s. There was too much conventional thinking back then.
Typically worn in night games to help the players identify their teammates on the field when playing teams with similar colors. Such as against Mississippi State. Stadium lights were not very good years ago.
Walter has always been on my short list of favorite Bama players ever. He was so calm, cool and collected. Never rattled. Certainly a dependable guy on and off the field.
Loved Walter Lewis. I saw him in the liberty Bowl in Memphis and playing for the Showboats. I’m from Memphis. TN. Always been an Alabama fan.

Walter was the Tide's first black quarterback! A tremendous athlete, and a classy individual.

The white helmets go all the way back to before and during Coach Bryant’s tenure. In fact, Alabama had white leather helmets back in the 30’s.

Perkins brought back the white helmet for a couple games

Those white helmet uniforms were awful
Yep, we obviously wore them a lot many years ago but they are terrible.
Lies
Perkins era only.

Back when the NFL didn't draft black quarterbacks. They would move them to receivers or running back and cut them.
How ya gonna tell me you wouldn’t like to wear those white helmets once per season? During a night game on the road. Snazzy.
I love the throwback all white road uniform. Very sharp!
