  • Welcome to Episode 5 of our Spiti Valley Motorcycle Expedition!
In this leg of our journey, we travel from Tabo to Dhankar Village, covering a distance of approximately 30 kilometers.
Tabo, often referred to as the "Ajanta of the Himalayas," is renowned for its ancient Tabo Monastery, established in 996 AD. This monastery is a treasure trove of Buddhist art and culture, housing a wealth of ancient murals and statues. Surrounded by stark, dramatic landscapes, Tabo offers a serene and spiritual start to our ride.
The route to Dhankar Village is a challenging yet rewarding ride through rugged and rocky terrain. The path winds through narrow mountain roads, offering breathtaking views of the Spiti River and the stark beauty of the high-altitude desert. The ride requires careful navigation and skill, making it a true adventure for any motorcyclist.
Dhankar Village, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers, is our destination. Known for the Dhankar Monastery, which is believed to be over 1000 years old, the village offers panoramic views of the Spiti Valley. The monastery's location and the surrounding scenery make it one of the most picturesque and awe-inspiring places in the region.
