So y’all know, I’m not the one adding “because yuck” nor “…and kindness”. That’s on Beekman.
…🤔. But now that I think about it. I wonder what portion of the population has a kindness allergy? 😳
Lol have a great rest of your week all!

One of them is an MD (I remember seeing them on HSN years ago). They seem very sincere and genuine. They claim to have just 150 goats, but Im not sure this us enough to provide their thousands of orders?!

Alice, for the last couple of weeks, every time someone mentions deodorant, I have to tell them that I learned from Dr. Dray that I can use an acne cleanser with benzoyl peroxide to wash my underarms in the shower, and it kills the bacteria that causes the stink. I mean, this works so well, I've even stopped wearing deodorant and I can go 24 hours or more with no armpit odor. I hope this was a helpful tip!

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  2 года назад +6

      And glycolic acid too!
My problem is that I sweat though. I can neutralize the smell, but I can’t stop the sweat without sweat-blocking ingredients. I wonder if it’s due to living in not just a hot climate, but a high humidity climate as well?

    • @olzhena9681

In another video dr Dray mentioned that she removed her underarms hair permanently. I do use braun silk epil epilator underarms and it’s a game changer. I don’t need use any deodorants. So, no hair follicles- no smell. Simple Sol de Janeiro body cream with aha is enough for me.

Great, informative review. You might remember my first impression of that spf was that I HATED it. I did rehab it a little bit--if I shake it A LOT and use a measuring spoon. Because I overcompensated for the inability to measure a finger-length and used too much the first time, and WHOA, awful. And yes it was messy! It splashed into the measuring spoon! 🤣🤣🤣 But there's still a white cast. BUT: one of the minis I took on vacay in June was the Beekman 1802 cleansing balm and I really liked it!

I received the unscented body cream mini and a huge bar soap (mermaid package - limited-edition?) as a gift, and was impressed with both. I used the body cream as an eye cream, and it was soothing and didn't break me out. The bar soap is still going strong at my kitchen sink. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to purchase from them, but goat milk seems to get along with my skin.

I love that you covered this! I was tempted to pick up some Beekman while shopping recently. It was the packaging and clever name. That’s it. I know that the formula is more important and that is probably why I did not pick it up. I know a little about goat milk, but have not seen a lot on skin benefits and data from studies. I know it’s a statement to own a goat and use goat products. I don’t know what it says, but I think I get this product from that perspective. Thanks for sacrificing comfort for style. Commitment. 👏

Colostrum seems to be an ingredient in every one of these products. I'd be interested to hear how they ethically get enough of that to include in everything since my understanding is it's produced in relatively limited quantities.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  2 года назад +4

My guess is that it’s really not much per product. It’s kind of a bitter pill to swallow that most of our skincare products are 80%+ water (usually higher tbh)
I found it so fascinating that Good Molecules received criticism for this. Their nothing to hide ingredients list actually discloses the percentage of water, and it upset people!!
On the flip side, I also think it’s hard to conceptualize the impact very tiny amounts of ingredients can have on a product (ie retinoids: 0.1% adapalene has led to HUGE changes to my skin!)
I still struggle with it, even though my research has been on microscopic organisms!! It’s deeply difficult to imagine!

Great review! I agree about the bubble mask. It's a fun sensory experience but it doesn't really seem to do anything adversely or positively to my skin. The sunscreen doesn't seem like it's a great formula either. I use all of those products except for the sunscreen and really enjoy them. The body care is really wonderful. I use the bars of soap, hand/body washes, lip balms, hand creams, body lotions, cuticle oil & cream, and the essences that you mix with the Bloom Cream as well and I really love them. I started using the Pure bar of soap on my toddler and it leaves his skin so soft compared to the old baby washes we were using. The hand creams and lip balms are unlike any other I've tried because they really moisturize like no other. This winter I've been using their stick of butter or a hand cream and cuticle cream and lavender lip balm before bed and my troublesome nail beds and dry hands and lips have greatly improved. At first I didn't think the hand creams and body lotions would be so great because they seem to have a lighter consistency than products I'm used to but they absorb so well and really work for my skin. I don't think all of the products will work for everyone but I think they're worth the monetary investment and time for me. I also love the origin story of how the founders started this company and their collabs with shows like Schitt's Creek and Bridgerton are super cute.

The only product of theirs I've tried is their Milk Shake facial mist because I wanted one that was kinda moisturizing on its own, and didn't need you to apply a layer of moisturizer on top to really lock in all its benefits. I'm not even vegan but I feel like the owners of this company might be slightly dishonest about how they treat ALL of their animals. I saw them on a shopping channel spot and they had cute little female and male baby goats ( kids?) . They explained how they feed their goats grass and pamper them ect. In the dairy industry the male babies are disposable so unless there is a huge herd of male goats living out their happy lives something doesn't add up. Does anyone know?

My only issues with silicone is if they use too much, it feels like my skin can't breathe and my upper lip starts sweating. Gross right? I love the Cosrx Snail Cream but if I put on too much in the morning especially during the summer, my skin feels like it is suffocating. I live in Palm Springs so we are ridiculously hot and dry. I still love the cream, but I tend to use it more at night time, or I am careful to only use a small amount in the daytime. Also, Americans tend to love lots of serums rather than toners and essences. Serums don't always play nice with some moisturizers and the silicone can contribute to pilling.

I was glad to find a review of Beekman 1802. I have used their pure soap throughout the pandemic and it has kept my hands soft. However, with sensitive, oily face skin and allergies to fragrance, I have only tried a few other products and was disappointed (the milk spf in particular.) I think those with dry skin really benefit from many of the products, but you spared me trying the bloom cream in my search for a moisturizer suitable for my face. The body creams are very rich. Not for me either. Agree about the hand wipes, and the owners are generous with donations to good causes (hurricane relief gifts) with their Kindness philosophy. Cute baby goats!

I only know I tried their bar soap & had to quit using it in my bath. The ring around the tub it leaves is heavy & greasy. I assume it’s from the milk fats in the soap? This product is the devil in sheep's clothing. It's packaged well, smells good, and appears it would be a great product, but if you are dairy sensitive in even the least, I highly advise to steer clear. Shortly after using this whipped body cream and their lavender whipped body cream each day for over week or so I started having horrible Gastroenteritis problems non-stop to the point I was ready to see a Doctor. Not knowing it was this product, I cut out coffee, all my vitamin supplements, certain foods but nothing was helping my digestive issues. Then I remembered that our skin is our biggest organ, and after taking a shower and applying this product all over my body, it was ingesting the goat milk topically every day, so I decided to stop using it to see what would happen. Almost immediately I felt better, my digestion improved 100% and I am absolutely convinced it is because of this product and the goat's milk that they use. Please beware of this product.

Does anyone know why magnesium sulfate is used in the moisturizer? And it's *so* high up! I don't get why. And I think that could be the source of the burn people notice from the moisturizer.
Magnesium sulfate is the same as Epsom salts? But I have no idea what benefits or general effects it has for skin and haven't had much luck finding good info on it besides typical Epsom salt soaking benefits. I'm super sensitive to almost any kind of sulfate, which regularly causes my skin to burn so I wondered if it was the culprit for others.

I TOLD you about the body stuff! I hope you try some of their body line again, maybe the scented ones. I only have a vague knowledge of what scents you like (mostly what I remember is what you've said you don't like) but lmk if you want and I can make recommendations!

YES!! You get it!! There’s something strange about holding up a bar of soap in a way that simply doesn’t exist for a body/face wash in a bottle 🥺
I have a very specific favorite smell, and my problem is buying that same scent over and over again. I own: Replica Beach Walk, Bobbi Brown Beach, Armani Sun, Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess, Tom Ford Soleil…🤦‍♀️ best part? I have realized I don’t actually like the beach (Anakin Skywalker is right: I don’t like sand). I think I like the idealized image of the beach 🤣

I still haven't bought the milk drops I really want the biphase toner too I heard that was amazing. I saw today those 2 girls that use to work with the nutrium women that coned everyone Beauty within I think their channel is called the one girl has oily ance prone skin and she bought the cleanser and loved it as an oily skin type and she also really loved the biphase toner but honestly she must have spent like 800$ or more at Ulta on skincare and put it all on her skin in like a week idk how anyone could do that it was quit a hall of stuff. I think she got the primer SPF to I think she said she really liked that too but idk her SPF likes really I remembered her talking about the one from PC she loved the popular one in the grey tube and the Murad c SPF one idk I'm picky about SPF and moisturizer so it wasn't really high on my list like the other 2 products I have tried the bodycare they have and like that my mom swears by the unscented moisturizer she has sensitive skin especially after cancer and the chemo and radiation even over a year out no cancer she still sensitive.

I like how I read that about Ulta and went, “ooh they earned a lot of points 👀” 🤣😂
I’ll have to watch that, I actually do have some time for video viewing this weekend - a rare moment that I’m so excited for!!

I’m not sure kindness is really part of the INCI standard? 🤔🤔 (truly though, I do wonder how that’s okay?)

The burning with that probiotic moisturizer is the reason I’ve avoided their entire lime. The gimmicky Instagram-worthy packaging is a turnoff.

If it's too hot to be wearing the sweater, why are you wearing it? I saw these two guys on QVC. Totally unimpressed. The reviews are mixed. No way I'm spending my money on products with so many mixed reviews.

Sensitive nose me was too afraid to ever try this brand. I hate animal milks 🤢. So slimy! I can deal with snail slime but not milk slime.
I’ve replayed the double entendre portion a few times and still can’t figure out what it is 😂 I blame it on my ESL upbringing. I’ll ask via IG…

Terrible joke, really just me griping about how expensive optometry is 😅 (also bc I’ve needed glasses/contacts since age 10 🤓 - so I’ve deeply felt the inflation here!!)
Smart plan, the smell is a LOT. I say that as someone who drinks almond milk because I don’t like the smell of milk. I assume people who don’t mind drinking milk are just fine with the smell of these products though

I don't know what it is about this brand... but I'm 100% sure I don't want it. There's no reason for this that I can discern as the only samples I ever received (2 tiny ones) were affirmatively "fine". I thought it might be the goat milk angle since I don't like goat milk, but I'm not put off by that generally. I also considered the fact that it was more or less an "Ulta only" brand from what I've seen and even though I like Ulta I've never been all that impressed by a brand that doesn't overlap with some of the other stores I frequent, but I don't think that's it because I was semi-interested when I got a sample of the cleansing balm. I THINK it might be because what I want from a goat milk brand is not what I've seen from the samples, like I was thinking the cleansing balm might be creamy and nourishing but it felt a lot like the Clinique one. Anyway... saves me money as there are way too many options as is.

Ahhh I think it’s the “problem of fine”!! I suspect it’s that we live in a world of SO many options. Think about how many options there are for a hyaluronic acid serum, a vitamin c serum, a retinol product, a basic moisturizer…I truly think it’s thousands (each!)
So it’s a problem of redundancy, and while I personally can excuse that to some extent with more affordable products, it’s harder as the price increases - to a point. I mean, think of that Barbara Sturm $300 hyaluronic acid serum. There’s nothing WRONG with the product, aside from that it’s also nothing special. It’s fine. But pricey. At $300, I’ll criticize the price. It’s harder to critique a boring $50 HA serum, and thus I end up struggling to describe what I don’t like about it.
Haha I’m going off because yes - I heavily relate!

@@AliceintheRabbitHole I think the price point combined with the "fine" is a good combination of points. I think the other side is I went through this wave of trying stuff when I got into skincare a few years ago, but the reality is that while I'm picky there are many times where if I've found a "perfect" fit at a good price I'm done looking. If I just liked trying new things I'd give this more of a shot maybe, but if I just get a feeling there's no "holy grail" to be found I get very little joy from trying something new just because.

It could be. The catch with pilling is that it’s possible for SUCH a huge number of reasons. Makes it nearly impossible to ever identify why it happens 😕

I do love all of their products. I have very sensitive skin and I never have a problem with Beekman. I find the serums, the jelly cleanser and the bloom cream very calming. I also use Josie Maran argan milk serum products and love that line, too.
