Angels are creatures of Allah made of light (nur). They were created to obey Allah without blemish, have no desires or lusts, and always praise and glorify Him.
Angels are always present even though they are not visible to humans. They ask forgiveness for believers, guard the homes of those who read the Qur'an, and attend assemblies of knowledge.
The Messenger of Allah said:
"No people gather in one of the houses of Allah to read His book and study it together, but tranquility descends upon them, mercy covers them, angels shelter them, and Allah mentions them in front of those who are with Him."
(HR. Muslim)
