cruel world is the best concert and album opener!! this track makes you feel drunk without even listening to it. It places you in a strange mindset of euphoria, almost delirium. It's the stage before you black out when everything is blurry but you're still aware of everything that's occurring around you despite you being detached from it.

This is actually the only time her favorite song is also my favorite from the album, her favorites (like Terrence Loves You, Love...) are usually some of my least favorite songs. I love Cruel World, it's one of my overall favorite Lana's songs (the other ones being Cinnamon Girl, The Blackest Day, 13 Beaches, Wildflower Wildfire, Born To Die, Blue Jeans, Tulsa Jesus Freak...).
