Impossible ONE String Floating Table

- I really wanted to try and build a one string tensegrity table and I am pleased that it worked so well. watching these pieces defy what the logical brain says should work is pretty cool and well worth the build. Having a floating table around the office will be lots of fun

The other tables are actually having the top table hanging from the bottom table (which sounds weird but really isn't),while yours is using tension to have the string (rope, rly) behave like a solid rod.
Also some vague physics memory tells me that this will never take a lot of sideways load, since strings don't really like being tensioned absolutely straight all that much.
Anyway: not the same thing. Still interesting, but not what the other videos do.
Yeah, gotta cut the top and bottom connections and just leave the one in the middle. Ideal is to make it look more floating, but with the rope through it all it kinda breaks that illusion. Still cool, but a different sort of cool.
Izzy "Today I'm gonna do something I promised I'd never do on youtube."
Me "Please don't be naked."
Izzy doesn't seem like the type of fellow to promise to not be nude.
My mind cannot understand the standing up string
When I was young I used to stay away from fads because I didn't want to be a sheep but I think back on how I was missing out on discovering something neat that ultimately would have brought me closer to my class mates. If you want to build it then build it! Don't create if it's only because your being pressured to though!!!
You're obviously too young to remember pet rocks.
You're using a wheelchair? Did you have a setback? Please tell me you didn't
I did have a little set back. Nothing permanent just have to be off my feet as much as possible.for a couple months
izzy swan 🤞🤞🤞
Look after your back, or Brad will be trying some TensEgrity on you !!
Listen to the Dr! Never easy when you are someone that doesn't sit still easy. Take care of you!!!
Use some rope to stiffen up your back. Works fine on tables!
I had a vague thought whether this could be done.
Izzy comes along and says "hold my drink".
He says hold my drink and watch this. It will be cool 😎
Fancy seein' you here Brother...
Lovely
I understand the theory but seeing it produced makes my head hurt 😜👍
Awesome execution thanks‼️
I wish you hadn't done this video. The wife was watching over my shoulder, and now I have to make one!
Izzy, it is always a pleasure to see the work you do. I love trying these projects. THANK YOU for what you do.
If you're uncomfortable when doing stuff, it'll show! So run that fan to stay cool, I fully know the feeling!
Izzy, I'm just starting to watch, but I have to say: I LOVE that music you've been using in your videos! It transports me to The Mask movie! 😂
I love it too, sounds like Caro Emerald to me.
@MC"s Creations, According to SHAZAM it's
1) "Rock This Joint" (Original Mix) Yanivi Feat. Bella Potchy
2) "Nu Island" DayFox
@@GrayRaceCat Nice! Thanks! 😃
People use yoga ball chairs so they can "move"while sitting. That broken stool is a leak-proof yoga ball chair!
though that's still hard wood (not hardwood) compared to an inflatable ball.
if you can get a nice pillow on it it'd be good though
I thought the same thing. And it actually looks like furniture. : )
I was so glad to see you get the surgery, and come back so well. Then I had my own life threatening problem, and it only makes me so much more happy to see you doing what makes you happy, realizing what some of us have gone through. Thanks for all you have done over the years here Izzy!
Hang in there man!!!
You're a mad genius, I love it.
But.. can you do it with a single pubic hair?
hahahahah gross
BWAAHHAHHHAHHHAHHAAA
Unless you're Rapuntzel down there doubtful... Rapuntzel, Rapuntzel, let down your hair :D
Getting in on the latest fad is cool as long as, and only as long as, you put your own twist on it.
The whole concept of these floating tables just blows my mind but a single string? Just ... bang ... mind gone.
Nicely done!
Next vid, tensegrity CHAIR!!
That is an awesome design! Have you considered building one with a steel cable instead of rope? It seems like you could get more consistent tension.
Umm... I believe the point is to not have one continuous rope run through the entire piece, but to have the bottom piece suspended by the top piece (or rather the top piece suspended by the bottom piece). Then the four on the outside restrict side to side force.
And this is Izzy saying “all that string? Hold my beer”
The top piece is actually supporting the one below it, all the way down. The top is indeed holding the bottom up. In a sequence.
1:25 When the refresh rate of a monitor has a fist fight with the refresh rate of the camera
@Never Fail, And the camera loses!
I wonder if a polarized lense would make a difference??
Put a pad on top of the table, and see if any cats will decide: "If I Fits, I Sits."
That was fun! Especially the evil success laughter bahahaha!
Theres definitely some badassery going on in that shop!
Thank you Izzy, the music was not overwhelming in this video like the last one. I know editing is a pain in the butt, if you could lower the music volume a bit lower it would be Purrfect! :-) Soooo, I am giving this video a THUMBS UP!!!! :-D
Brad thinks pretty fast on his feet, "That's a made up word! " Brad - 2020... :D
LLAP
As Evan and Katelyn would say, I think thats more tensegrity adjacent... lol cool stuff izzy.
I wonder if you could use resin to stiffen the rope? or maybe just a cute girl....
The one with the crescents would make a cool feature light!
Well, that was rather interesting Izzy. Leave it to you to dream up something like that! BTW, I see that you are using the chair to get around again. I hope that you haven't had a set back.
This man is unique. There’s always something that he does that pushes a concept forward. Great video !
This already existed
This one doesnt seem as impressive though because it is more obvious how the rope underneath works to support it
The reason the tensigrity table is so trippy IS because of the four ropes on the sides, it makes you think they are somehow acting as supports but your brain knows rope doesnt work like that, so it just really messes with your mind. Without those four ropes you just immediately see the center rope and are like "yes of course that works"
Well, there goes my weekend, celtic knot tensegrity single string table....
Классный дядька, весёлый и рукастый! Жалко, что у меня руки растут не как у него из плеч. Удачи в жизни и никогда не унывать! Привет из России!
Coooooooool 👍👍👍👍
I wonder if the most bottom string was pulled really tight during assembly, would it offer more stability..?
the more you stretch the string, the more it would resist stretching, so the more stable it would be.
Glad you jumped over to a "trendy" one just to put your twist on it.... great project and cool as crap. Keep it up!
Man, I could use this as the basis for a cool Wiggle Butt chair for my 10yo w/ ASD.
Drives me nuts that this is so hyped. Something that takes 3 seconds to figure out can't be called, "impossible". I like your version though, good job.
Right? It's super intuitive.
Hello👋🙋♂️ there..
Amazing and very interesting project..
Super👍 like👌👌👌
Thanks for sharing sure great ideas..
Do keep posting👍
Warm regards and best👍💯 wishes✨✨✨
The UnknownManCub 👍😎👨🏭
Pretty fantastic work, Izzy! 😃
I need to try to make something like that!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Leave it to Izzy to up the challenge
Keren 👍👍👍

Love it! Man I want to try’
I can't believe what I just saw. Thank you.
Wait, Izzy you've lost some weight?? And your hair color has changed, wait that's not you, you've got behind the camera help, and i was braggin' it's only you doin' all the work, you lied to me, humph, never again !!!!
That's really neat, Izzy. I hadn't heard of this before but it's a really interesting concept. Stay well and keep healing. Bill
For the table, how about if you do in a tripod fashion? Tripod to base and three arms going up to the top?
Would it be more stable?
I've never seen this before, and it took a minute for my brain to wrap around the physics involved. Now just have some recessed cup holders on that baby. Nice work, and glad to see the color in your face coming back.
El camarógrafo NO deja de moverse; parece un terremoto.
La imagen no sirve. Trepida mucho y se ve todo borroso.
Repitan el video.
On a smaller scale, could your use only one screw instead of two? Also, I dont have the tools for the rounded 'C' shape but could make straight sided 'Cs'. Any reason that wouldn't work?
Thought about how much weight the table will (theoretically) support: Is it equal to the upforce applied by Brad when the table was assembled?
Beautiful but too wobbly.
Like my momma taught me? My momma, God rest her soul, always sent folk blank emails. LOL
So then what your saying is... your promises don't mean diddley? (Just kidding)
Go Izzy Go!
I don't really understand the placement and purpose of the small screws - are you running them alongside the string to keep it all from slipping sideways, or what?
Use dyneema rope and very much tension, something like 1000 pounds. You will see!
Technically, this is made from three segments of string. If there were not screws attaching to the curved pieces it would be totally unstable.
I don't think this meets the criteria. What you've done is inserted a string as a dowel, this isn't the same "gravity-defy" other projects demonstrate
your still using a mouse? do your self a favor and get your self a wacom drawing tablet and spend few days getting used to it. Your Welcome!
2.22 but all words are made up, 🙃
Oh Hey 👋
I Love You.
That is All.
❤️👊🏼❤️
Great stuff Izzy :) Flip the table up the other way without fixing the cord; looks like it'll work fine. All the Best.
your camera work is quite terrible. can't see most of what you are doing. its shaky. just awful
Boa noite meu amigo. Preciso de uma ajuda sua. Me chamo Christiano e moro em Piraquara Paraná Brasil.
Qual a melhor madeira para fabricação de prancha de surf.
Obrigado por sua atenção.
While this was merely a feasibility study, you could replace the string with electric cable, put a light bulb at the top and make a lamp out of it. Just take care what kind of screws you use to clamp the cable so you don't puncture the insulation.
Damn I just said the same thing. Maybe inlay some wire clamps.
I'm glad to see you taking my advice and taking it slowly brother. Back issues can be very devastating which I know from experience. I threw my back out yet again today so yeah, seeing you in that chair again reminded me that I'm still fortunate enough not to need one yet, key word is yet. Keep the awesomeness coming and we'll see you in the next one :)
Rope is to be tied ONLY between the sharp curves of the two and NOT via the table top and bottom also. Then 3 from table top to bottom
Don't fix the top string but replace the string with something more durable and turn that table into a stool that exercises your core and trains your posture
Garbage Pail Kids! Those were sooo funny (I think that's what you were thinking when you mentioned the Cabbage Patch Kids), right?
Yes!
I had to Mute the Soundtrack. I do not know what type of 'music' you listen too but I cannot handle it. Good luck
You could use some clear, heavy fishing line and it would look better, like it is floating in mid air.
Too many commercials... 1 or 2 it’s ok... 1 every minute is disgusting
Nice job!
If you used electrical 2 core wire , and fitted a lamp holder you cold have a table lamp.
Примерно вот такие самоподдерживающие конструкции показывал наш изобретатель в 80-тых годах в передаче "Очевидное-невероятное", только лучше по конструкции и намного более разнообразнее

Hello 👋 my Lovely 😊 Very Good Very Nice 👍 your design and your Working and your Video Beautiful thanks so much Goodbye 👋 next Video 🌹❤️
This is one of those thing that understand how it works but you forget then remember again.
Make the cresent one have a wire instead of string and make it a light.
Super good work sir
imposable hm without those woooden pieces would the string stand up straight?
Make it fishing wire instead, it would be even more floating
Very cool 👍👍
Love this idea. Gonna kick my son off the pc and we can make a lamp like this.
The workpiece is great, the video is just annoying.
Make that block under the table top bigger and mill a pocket in it to hide a knot in your rope.
Izzy... 1 part woodworker and 1 part magician.
I almost always hate music instead of the recorded audio in RUclips videos. But this channel is always great.
I guess its just bad music in RUclips videos that is annoying.
Use tensegrity to make a rope ladder that you can throw upwards.
Does anyone know the music he used in this video?
its from paid royalty free free site called artlist. sorry i dont remember the name
@@izzyswan Thanks.
Саморезы в веревку это не честно
Да ладно, это же не на века. Демонстрация принципа работы. :)
gostei parabens, o teste foi legal mas voce exagerou no peso. mas valeu
- Nice idea. The rope/cord could have been stiffened with "crafter's fabric stiffener" used to make stiff transparent pieces for Halloween costumes. It stays stiff for years. Cool idea for a table. Thanx 4 sharing.
I could use bigger blocks of wood that looks great tho
You People are really CRAZY!
Love from INDIA!!
Wow, that is super awesome. Izzy blows doors with stuff like this. I knew the bag of cement wasn't gonna fly at all but, totally Kool. I love watching this channel. The content here is always relevant and really inspiring. Jim
Izzy showing the kids what's what on the interwebs....
Very clever... This showed the copycats, that thinking and being original tops all. Good job.
But Izzy how can I make one without all those cool tools you have?
