35018 ' British India Line' visits the Wensleydale Railway

- 35018 is an unusually large locomotive to visit the Wensleydale Railway, and was there for the 1940's weekend. We take a quick peak at it at Leeming Bar before its first trip up the line of the weekend. We catch up with it at Aiskew level crossing, Crakehall, and finally see it at Finghall with a nice slippery departure.
Vibrating sounds of steam traction. Bygone time. The sounds of and journey on steam railways was awesome. Even people having highest degree of insomnia can get deep sleep on these trains. Traveling in passenger car with swing and sway is romantic.

Wonderful.A classic train which recalls old memories of our railway journey programs which were anxiously waited not only by us as children but equally by people of all ages.It appeared to be quite exciting and absorbing to see the smoke and whistle blowing sound coming from a far away distance.Many people will go near to the railway track just to have a view of any train and waive at passengers looking out of the windows and standing in doors.❤️

Me too! an event called Steamfest is being held in a couple of weeks. An annual “rush” of trains for those who love them. When I lived in that particular suburb my husband & I would go down the night of their arrival & just listen to them resting after the long haul from Sydney, & making that wonderful ssshhh sound. & you know what? We ended up sharing this with about 30 or so train nuts. Standing in the cold of night just listening. Not talking. Just listening. I miss that now but am looking forward to the trains. No matter how old you are the joy remains the same.

From donkey carts and oxwagon, this was "modern technology" in bygone years. I rode in one of those in the early 60's. Nice to see them around; it's a "steam engine museum" in motion if we like to call it. THANKS and BLESSINGS.
