    A few other strategies I’ve heard are helpful that Nicole didn’t mention
    1. Squeezing combs into your palms
    2. Heating pads or rice buddy
    3. Ice packs
    4. Cool wash clothes
    5. Counter pressure / acupressure
    6. Kissing (similar to the nipple stimulation she mentioned)
    7. Dancing (idk about this one personally but I’ve heard it recommended)

    Loved this😊✨ Having a natural birth is something very special. I had 2 natural births and literally my biggest motivation was the fact that I was so afraid of the needle from the epidural, so I had no other choice than going natural Like so afraid. Even after my daughter was born I needed to get surgery (cause I was losing so much blood) and they wanted to give me an epidural but I said no, I want to go fully under cause I ain’t want a needle in my back😭 But I am happy I was able to have 2 natural births

    This was SO helpful, filled so much info! Thank you. My first time around I definitely was not educated and I went in with the same mentality. I'll try to have a natural birth, if it's too much for ill just get an epidural. I ended up getting an epidural at 2 cm! Looking back I probably could've gone longer but I was afraid and I didn't have much support. But my next time around, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a natrual birth and do my research, and inform my husband on all these amazing things! Our bodies are amazing!🙏🏻🙌🏻

    I planned on having a natural birth with my first, but once they said I was 10 centimeters I got so scared and asked for the epidural even though they told me I was doing so well. I'm pregnant with my 2nd now. I'm almost 31 weeks. I know I can make it through the pain of the contractions since I did with my first, but the thought of pushing and possibly tearing scares me so much. How bad was that phase?

    Even this title is so weird to see cause it’s the absolute NORM where I’m from to have unmedicated ‘natural’ births in a hospital. I birthed my first two sons back in New Zealand where I was born and raised with a midwife in a hospital (no one else in the room). It’s very unusual not to have a natural birth there then moving to the states I ended up having a home birth because I absolutely knew what I was doing but got so much smack for it! It was incredible and I’m excited to do it again for my 4th baby but the hospital/doctor culture here is so upsetting because for a huge amount of mothers a lot of the interventions are very unnecessary. The Business of Being Born is an eye opening documentary to watch about the American Maternity system.

    I’ve watched this before but I’m back again because I’m terrified my epidural won’t work for the next baby🤣 Just realized I’m horrified of labor and I have 25ish weeks to turn that thought around. The only reason I’m terrified is because a paper cut hurt worse than my last labor and birth. It went that well. I’ve never heard of that lol so I’m expecting the worse this time.

    Do you feel like a natural unmedicated birth is possible with a doctor at the hospital? I’m 31 weeks and medically cannot get an epidural. I wish I would have went with a midwife. I feel like the nurses won’t know these techniques and I’ll be in too much pain to remember these things to help me in the moment

    • @Nicolelelagreen
      @Nicolelelagreen  2 года назад

      I think if you communicate well with the doctor that you can’t have an epidural and what your plan is then it’s surly possible and many have done it! Is it too late to switch practices? Or get a doula? I know you’re pretty far along but perhaps that’s an option. Again if not, I believe you can make a way mama 🧡 praying for a healthy delivery!

    I think the issue with the title is not the "unmedicated" part but rather the word "natural". All births are "natural" births whether they're vaginal or c-section. I understand the definition aligns with your experience but it doesn't necessarily make it any less alienating or disheartening to those who ended up having a birthing story that wasn't vaginal. To them, I'm sure their experience was very "natural". They delivered their baby in the safest way possible, given their individual circumstances. I'm sure that wasn't your intention and my goal in leaving this comment isn't to shame your word choice. I am just hoping to shed some light on a very sensitive subject that some of your subscribers probably resonate with. Congratulations on your positive birth story and all the best wishes for 2022.

    • @Nicolelelagreen
      @Nicolelelagreen  2 года назад +18

      Hey Amber, I completely understand your point and see how that can feel alienating to some. At the same time, definitions are definitions, and they help us communicate specific meanings. This is the term used within the medical industry, and most people…and I can’t change that. When I create a title, I use key search terms that would lead people to the correct video they are searching for. So it just wouldn’t make sense for me to try to use another term, which honestly, I wouldn’t even know what other term to use. Hopefully you can see my dilemma here. That’s why I make it clear in the first minute of my video that I don’t want to shame anyone who didn’t have a “natural” birth. I had a medicated labor for my first born son so of course I have no judgement in this area! All I can do right now is offer that disclaimer until another word is created to describe this experience. I appreciate your comment and I know your heart is in the right place, so thank you 🙏🏼

    • @tristenhausmann
      @tristenhausmann 2 года назад +5

      hi amber, all births aren’t natural. if you use medication of any kind, that leads to a birth that’s no longer natural. it’s not vaginal versus c-section. medication is simply not natural

    • @amberfriedlander2811
      @amberfriedlander2811 2 года назад +4

      @@Nicolelelagreen I appreciate your response and again, I do not think your intentions are to alienate anyone. I understand your point being made about the medical definition used. To answer your question, your title could have read "How I had an unmedicated vaginal birth..." and I am sure it would have eliminated perhaps any backlash you stated you received in the first minute of your video. Best wishes for your continued success.

    • @Nicolelelagreen
      @Nicolelelagreen  2 года назад +2

      @@amberfriedlander2811 that’s actually a good option for a title as well, but I decided to go with a more popular term because that’s what I think makes the most sense and aligns the most with my video topic. Again, I appreciate your thoughts on this and the respectful way you shared them. God bless!

    • @lilymcmanaway
      @lilymcmanaway Год назад

      Hey amber, I see your point but a c section by definition is not natural, It’s a c section birth, which there is nothing wrong with that! If someone feels alienated by a neutral definition it really isn’t up to us to change definitions and what they mean…Just because you didn’t give birth naturally doesn’t mean it wasn’t any less of a birth!
