Just ran my preorder locally for these starting a few days ago. In just under 24 hours, I had over $300 dollars in preorders with a few orders still rolling in every day. My Glowforge is going to be cooking this month between these and my other products! This is a fantastic product, a fantastic set of files and is 100% worth the money if anyone is even remotely thinking about it. Thanks so much for this!
Thank you for the video. We appreciate the great content and helpful links. We are just getting started with Glowforge and have found your videos to be the most helpful for my husband to comprehend.
thanks for your videos. I'm a new user and have a quick question for you: is it necessary to mask both sides of the wood? I thought you only mask the side you are engraving on.
On certain projects you will want to mask the back too especially if you’re cutting. If someone will also see the back like an ornament you will want to mask. As the laser cuts the material, the smoke gets trapped under the material and creates the Smokey look on the back side
Thanks for your videos! Been cutting decals and selling online for over 15 years but just got my laser this week. Curious about how you handle long names? I cut a lot of memorial decals and sometimes the names can be super long. Do you limit the number of letters or somehow make the ornament bigger to fit it?
For the people asking about masking the material, I made a video on masking. It's on how I do it and what I use: ruclips.net/video/kO9fXM-xdnQ/видео.html If you are looking to purchase a Glowforge you can save a bunch of money with my link below: glowforge.us/r/HIMMVPWH
Hey! Where do you sell your projects at currently? If you want to email that would be easier and I can help you out. laserengravingbusiness @ Gmail.com
Yeah that’s exactly what we did. We set an end date for a cheaper price at $14 instead of $20. Then we said we would have the orders complete at a specific time like first week of November.
haha! no at some point an extra icon got added down there somehow and I never did take it off. I don't play much anymore just on occasion when I have some leisure time
Love this Idea... Does Inkscape have Variable Data, like Illustrator? Something to look into, imagine not having to set each name by individually, just run a script and have a dozen or so orders ready to cut... Also... If you can come up with a way of the client being able to add layers as new generations come, keep the client coming back, and make the oriniment an heirloom...
When you do preorders like this, do you ask the customers to pre-pay when they order or do they pay upon “delivery”? BTW, thank you for putting out this content, I’ve been bingeing your videos, they are so helpful!
Hello! Thanks for watching! For this pre order everyone paid before the item was produced. On custom made items I always take payment first before getting started on the order. We told everyone when to expect their order to be ready which was early November for everyone that pre ordered
You are right! I should have said sales instead of made. It's not $1400 in profit. Subtracting materials it's probably around $1100 or $1200, I didn't get a chance to really do profit yet.
@@customgrainsdesigns2226 I just got my laser a couple of weeks ago but haven't experienced any sales. How did you start. I am frequently asked by people who see my products if I sell them and I now tell them yes, but I do more bowls and pens in the woodshop. Cutting boards, and plaques. I am adding the laser to my work so I can do much more.

I'm very happy to hear that! I will be posting as much content as my time allows so stay tuned!
Those are very nice , thanks for the great video.
Just Got the file selling them in Alaska now
Awesome!
Nice job and laser. I didn't realize that Glowforge uses web based software, what happens if your Internet is down?
Good job! Keep'em coming!!!!!
Would this work with the cricut cutting bass wood and using a 12x24 mat?
I don't see why you would have any problems with it but I do not have a lot of experience with cricut.
When I upload to the Glowforge the names disappear on the ornaments. I tried fill/stroke and nothing is working. Help
Are you using Inkscape? If so make sure you make the names object to path. If you need more help or further explanation send me an email
@@customgrainsdesigns2226 omg ty I forgot to do that. Slowly learning lol ty so very much for replying 🙂
Hi. I watched the video twice (it's 1:30AM in Chicago) I didn't see the other colors offered
Yeah sorry I forgot to add it in the video but I posted a picture of it on the website in the link in the description
@@customgrainsdesigns2226 Thanks, I was able to view them on your site. They are beautiful.
Are you using proof grade? If not what do you use to mask your wood?
I use this: amzn.to/3fZZChK as my masking paper and I use the plywood linked in the description of the video.
How thick is the wood you are using? Can you use 1/4 plywood? What would the setting be?
I’m using 5/32 plywood that’s linked in the description. I use the thick basswood plywood setting
Thank you for this information!!

Make the font smaller about all you can do

@@backdropsg6608 I just shipped some out today and most were between $2-$4. I used paypal shipping
@@customgrainsdesigns2226 yeeees I finally find a video lol I was doing it WRONG 😑 I was going to pay $9 😩 when it was just $3
Hi where can I get the file? Thanks
Should be linked in the description
How do you do pre-orders? Do you set a date and say no more orders after this date?

Great stuff!! Will get the file
Great Video! Can you give link to Fan you are using? Thanks.
Yep! I made a video on it and that video has a link in the description. Here it is: ruclips.net/video/mwkxHan_PRI/видео.html
Do you charge for shipping when you sell these or is shipping included with the $20.00 price?
We charged $3 for shipping
@@customgrainsdesigns2226 thank you so much. My Glowforge intimidates me and your videos help fix that.
Those are cool...How much did you sell them for? Was it for a set or sold single?
$14 per ornament on sale then back to normal price of $20 after the sale
consider running ' voice normalization ' so your volume is consistent throughout the video , so your videos are of higher quality
Thanks, this is a setting on obs?
you cant just have it all.
I want to ask ...why use masking tape ?
So the wood doesn’t get the soot and charring
@@customgrainsdesigns2226 yes I undertstan ....thanks for answer regards...
Off topic, but do you have 2 instances of overwatch running on your computer?
haha! no at some point an extra icon got added down there somehow and I never did take it off. I don't play much anymore just on occasion when I have some leisure time
Thanks for sharing .
Amazing !
Why don't you put the camera in front of your hands ?? Kind regards Hans
I will work on that, thanks

Great Ideas! I'm still learning Inkscape fully so I'm not 100% sure if that can be done but it is definitely something I will be researching!

you didn't subtract the cost of your materials.

Bass wood not "Base" wood.
Gotcha, thank you
