Great tip on not approaching a cab that's sitting still. Had no idea there was such a high cancellation rate with grab and bolt in the evenings there. I suppose taxis in Bangkok will always remain an issue lol. Looks as vibrant as ever there. Can't wait to go back. Thanks for sharing.
Lots of interesting info tidbits - thanks. Enjoyed the people watching. What that guy's doing, how much they'll be paying, don't play with the bell, etc
I like Buddy's. I discovered their breakfasts. I was staying on soi 20 in July and wanted an American breakfast. The Buddy's around the corner from my hotel felt a little like being back home. Had my '69 Mopar from my youth in a poster on the wall. Next time in Bangkok (in a few months), I will go to Buddy's for a hot dog and beer at night 🙂
I think I done 2 bars so far on 2 trips lol both times in the day time. Lots of tipbits that was interesting as I had trouble with a grab like you was saying but in the morning. The driver wanting me to wait for 2hrs for him 😅 Can not wait to be back in February
I definitely wanna have a shot at that drill bit on the counter when I'm in bkk I can close a 350 hand gripper which is world class so I would expect to be pretty good at I love a challenge as well
I have found the non-airconditioned buses to be perfectly comfortable. There are rows of fans all the way down both sides of the bus. You would be surprised at how effective they are.
Ya, that will happen. Just tell them you ae waiting for your girlfriend. If you want a lady to sit at your table, then you have to buy a few drinks. If she drinks too fast, get another lady.
Enjoy all your videos. Visiting Thailand the 4th time. This time BKK for dental work at Bangkok Int. Dental Clinic. Want to see the Super Bowl while in BKK. Can you recommend bar w expats to watch with. 67 WM from NJ. Hope to meet up if possible before I head to Hua Hin. Mike
Hey Mike. Osheas on Soi 33/1 will be packed. The Sportsman on Soi 13. I'd guess any of the Buddys Bars. The Tavern on Soi 4 used to have a big spread for a fixed price. Not sure about this year. I think it changed ownership
@@EagerExpat. Thanks for your response! I guess you will be at O’Sheas? I was on Soi 80 last year at 6:30am for the game, loved it. Would love to run into you, hope you can do a meet up that week. Jersey Mike, retired LE. My father and brother were USPS! The Thrift Savings Plan did them well. You have and still are doing very well, I can tell from your stories on YT.
8855 on the sub Soi leading from 8 to 6 do a big thing for the Super Bowl . The guy who runs it is from Chicago ( but I doubt the Bears will be there lol )
Good video. Good point on using Grab vs Bolt I need to reinstall grab myself. How much would you expect to pay for a taxi from the BKK airport to Soi 4 area?
Took your advice back 2 or 3 months ago and changed up around 36 to 1, now kicking myself and trying to justify the law of averages. Hope all is well, sounds and looks as if it is.
The old non aircon busses are singing on their last song..more and more busses are replaced by electric busses And the scooter taxis(win)are for shorter distances as they have fixed taxes per kilometer (1,6 kilometer is 1 mile) better to live near the subway mrt or skytrain bts for commuting and get around Uadapted pretty goo to life in Krung thep(Bangkok) for a American but staying at bars and that nightlife takes its toll. BIGGEST problem ive seen with many expats is that Thailand is so affordable that they spend to much just because things are so affordable =)
@@EagerExpat haha yeah..i do work and live in Bangkok so my life is more..normal.. spend about 30% of my salary a month here..having a really good life =)
Lot of tourists from India these days and in the future. Favourable new tourist visa rules makes it super easy, few hours by flight and lots of options like air asia, air india, indigo, thai etc. Lots of Indians with disposable income with an itch to travel abroad thanks to social media especially and finally travelling within India is not always cheaper due to taxes etc
Great video mate. Regards to transferring money into your Thai bank account, now your a resident with the new tax laws, are you paying tax on your foreign income?
We're still waiting for confirmation. There are double tax treaties for many countries. Maybe we'll have to fill out a form. Hopefully, it's not a tax return. I'm sure the tax man would like that. It's already October. I wouldn't doubt they just put it off another year. Lots of paperwork to figure out.
I saw a guy ring the bell in a Soi 6 in Patts not knowing the rules, before he knew what happened the drinks were already on a tray being passed out to the girls! ... They didn't let him off the hook!

It's not too bad. Maybe 20% cancellation. Higher if it's raining.
Just subscribed to your channel. Enjoyed that one , I've spent quite a bit of time on 22, cheers
It's a fun street
Thanks Joe, stellar content as always.
Glad you enjoyed it
That was *Washington Square* on Sukhumvit Soi 22, near the Phrom Phong skytrain station that I heard many stories about.
Yes, that and the Queens Beer Garden was fun. Both gone today. But, there are new places every time I turn around
Great video injoy watching it.. 😁👍📹
Thank you very much

Ya, I used to use them when I lived in On Nut. Today in In Phrom Phong I just walk most places
I got pressured hard by bar girls. That courtesy drink tip is quality local knowledge.

@@EagerExpat It was fine. But giving a "no thanks" tip to let everyone know is just a good technique. I'll remember it next fall when I come back.

I haven't paid for a cab in years. I'd guess 600b maybe 700b toll roads
500 baht is standard. A little less if you are on the meter.

A bunch of places to go. It's the guys that want to hang out with the ladies that need to not waste their time
I normally prefer to buy girls a drink who dont ask especially if they're a plain jane and probably dont get much interest
Sounds good
Do you ever find the temperature in Bangkok to hot? like unbearably crazy, nuts, insane hot??
Nah. I'm getting used to it. Plus, I don't have to work outside. Just walking a bit
