    One important thing no one mentioned here so far, is that some of those techniques, specially rolling, are severely limited by the quality and type of the pad. Here in Brazil you hardly find a good, well maintained pad, most of them are old, some of those that still have big screws over the pad, and many others that have failing sensors.
    In those you get seriously limited, because you can't trust the edges will work with quicky and light hits.
    They're a big handicap even when playing normally really.

      I usually play at Madureira Mall (RJ), and I often find myself missing holds even if I'm holding as I should, probably because of the aforementioned failing sensors. The cab there is a 2011 Fiesta running Prime 2015 (sadly no Danza Kuduro cause it's probably not correctly set to Latin America) with a pretty shoddy pad

    when I started playing 15 years ago, we were told to never cheat, we didn't use the bar, we needed to flow between patterns and stairs, twisting your body was usually the easier most efficient way to do these things. And a lot of these techniques are actually harder without the bar because you need to perform small an precise microjumps that are just so hard to do without it, and I was dumbfounded at the level players achieved in these past years, but now I see how they do it. This was very very very entertaining, thank you

    I played PIU from the Prex 3 to Xceed 2 days and only recently stumbled on to this vid after essentially forgetting about PIU for almost 20 years.
    What in the blue hell is this!? I remember being able to play half-double/double charts period being considered "good" at the game, and there being only normal/hard/crazy skill levels, with a crazy board being today's equivalent of a s12 board, and an s12 board being something players should hit in a day after play.
    This is a heart attack inducement machine now, good lord.

    • @xlixity
      @xlixity Год назад +2

      I'm not saying this is a bad thing either, it looks like fun!
      It's just way, way, _way_ beyond my comprehension at this point. IIRC the world championships in the mid 00s had contestants playing a Crazy double chart for CRASH - 'Dignity', something that it seems enthusiast players today would use as a warmup. I'm very impressed how the scene evolved.

    • @Mynarski
      @Mynarski 11 месяцев назад

      I feel like the PIU machines back then had a much more strict timing for Perfects, any delay in your execution would give you Greats or Goods. What I see nowadays is you hit the arrow at any time and you consistently get Perfects. Timing is much more forgiving now. Every video you see someone playing Dignity crazy, they are using the rolling or hoping technique to hit the arrows without ever turning their bodies sideways, and they get mostly Perfects. Dignity crazy went from insanely difficulty to a meme chart.

    • @xlixity
      @xlixity 11 месяцев назад

    May I suggest that you add the following abbreviations to your cheating graphs? LT, LH, RT, RH (Left toe, left heel, Right toe, Right heel) Even with you explanation and the bracket graphs it is still not 100% clear for me how you step certain patterns. The demonstration videos are in full speed so you need to slow it down as a watcher to 0.25 speed to see what is happening. But if you add LT,LH etc to your graphs it is easier to see what you are supposed to look for in the demo videos and even without demo video you would know that you are supposed to do. Anyways it is still a good video but a complete novice person would not understand it in 1 watch. Hope you do something with my feedback. Cheers!

    I am not yet through with the Video but still got some new Input, which I am very thankful for.
    As I have an injured back I should avoid the jumps (sometimes I cant hold back but afterwards my back hates me for it 😭)
    I already succeeded in sliding my feet in the right postition fast enough to activate the pads on time, but that does not work when it changes to fast (still happy that I can work some jumps without jumping 😅)
    When I watch my 14 year old daughter jump around, I envy her. I dont expect to get to her level, but I would be glad to be able to have more fun while enjoying the Songs without having to constantly watch out for my damn back (still, thankful that I actually CAN move well enough to play DDR/PIU 😊 health is important 🍀💖)
    Does maybe anyone know where I couöd find a list or something to see which songs there are avaliable on Pump it up DX?
    Searching for songs my daughter and I both know gets hard 😂

    Wow amazing guide. Being a 10 keys mania player for about an year, I was looking for downscroll PIU players and then found out your channel. Really amazing guide. I was just wondering whether all PIU machines support downscroll or is it only the latest ones? Also, while playing PIU downscroll, I've noticed that using the DR mode flips the arrows 180 degrees making it impossible to recognize the notes, so how do you overcome this?

    • @4199rg
      @4199rg  3 года назад +1

      Thanks a lot. I believe down scroll was added somewhere around fiesta ex/2. And the way I overcome the arrow problem is I use a circular noteskin, so that it looks the same when flipped upside down

    • @nextercise
      @nextercise 3 года назад +1

      Reverse Scroll or DR (Drop) has been there since either NX2/NXA, I totally forget the code unfortunately. there should be an archive of this code somewhere on the internet. Fiesta series offers you easier access to it because you don't have to input complicated codes, though.

    • @wibs0n68
      @wibs0n68 3 года назад +1

      Reverse / DR player here. Been playing with DR since fiesta. Played GH and mania a lot before playing PIU so I can't get use to play upscroll at start. You might need to learn upscroll later on since DR will applies on both players (if you're playing with someone) and iirc tournaments don't allow DR (If you're planning on getting pro)
      To help recognize arrows with DR, make sure you remember all arrows position on the pad, this will be muscle memory the longer you play, so don't worry about it.
      To learn upscroll easier, set the scroll speed lower than what you usually use when using DR (Mine's currently AV 600 on normal, 640 on DR).

    La maña es maña. Curiosamente, se volvió una técnica, pero antes, los mejores jugadores detestaban no cruzar. Poco a poco se volvió la regla hacerlo, y no sé por qué casi nunca salieron torneos donde solo se permitiera jugar sin repetir step con un mismo pie. El problema? cuando eres zurdo te cuesta mucho cruzar. A mí me tomó años y hasta la fecha no entiendo casi ningún patrón complejo o diagonal invertido, simplemente no los veo, por ende prefiero mañear.

      I also have a situation with old pads. The FIESTA EX at my arcade (the only PIU in a 200km radius) still has alright sensors but the panels are sunken and I have to stomp hard to hit brackets, while bracket holds are straight up impossible without using hands.

      You’re absolutely right. The techniques that require you to hit multiple notes at the same time are less and less effective/accurate at lower speeds. I leave this to your own discretion, but I think that at around 150bpm and lower, it’s best to be using double stepping and rolling for the most part.
