I remember even back in 07-08 I felt that Gears was probably originally a horror survival game that eventually got turned into an action shooter

I thought they were only (mostly) tortured while Skorge was in command since he was far more sadistic than RAAM. Under RAAM’s command, didn’t they just straight up kill on sight? I could be wrong. I know some might’ve been taken to the hollow though.
From what I read on Xbox wire X that's exactly what they are aiming for, scary and brutal. And they're using Unreal Engine 5 full potential. 100 more times ray-tracing lighting effects, shadows, reflections and details on the characters and environment as well. I seriously can't wait! The mechanics will be similar but upgraded therefore having wall jumping available like gears ultimate edition did

With them counting it as mainline and stuff, it makes me wonder if the main story is a flashback of some sort. Like, maybe at the end of the game, we jump back into the present with an older Marcus.
Whatever the case, I'm pretty sure that the campaign story will have some sort of plot significance for the later games and i guarantee Gabe Diaz (Kait's dad) is in it.
I want to see the rescue of Adam Fenix scene from 3 sliced in, in the true reality
I doubt Gabe will be in it he works in the motor pool he might make a appearance. But that's about it I don't see him fighting with delta they have so many options for squadmates with Tai dom pad a couple more from the books. This is a game that they are trying to spark life back into the franchise. It should be so hard to ruin this game with all the lore they have available to them that has only been explored through the books. The only things I want to see and I will be super pissed if I don't is Maria and Adam with marcus.

They've got 2 different studios working on gears so im optimistic we will start getting more streamlined content now that they've shifted to U5. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a collection next year to hold us off until E-Day launches hopefully in 2026

I'm expecting the following events to unfold in this game:
1. A prologue with the death of Carlos Santiago.
2. The first Locust waves assaulting the neighborhoods around Ephyra, Jacinto and Ilima, especially in the Kalona District, where Marcus was sent during E-Day.
3. Entire cities being destroyed with the Hammer of Dawn.
4. Marcus POV during Halvo Bay.
5. The final Locust offensive when Marcus left his post to try and save his father.
6. The origin of Marcus' scar.
7. The first Drone to be killed with a chainsaw.
I'd say Holiday 2025 will be the earliest but will likely be late 1st quarter 2026

I think either they've pivtoed away from the collection using the assets they were creating for it to instead focus on E-DAY. Or they're going to announce next year that the collection is coming out 2025 to bridge the wait while Gears E-DAY comes 2026.

Gears 5 was announced June 2018. Game released Sept 2019. Not saying things will be the same. But there is a chance late 2025 could be the best case scenario.

I think the collection will be announced this year and I think they are waiting to do it at another event or drop a trailer later down the line.
I really doubt that the collection ever existed. The rumor of the "Marcus Fenix collection" started in 2014 before Ultimate Edition was announced. 2014 was the year we got "The Master Chief Collection" so it made sense that people at the time thought they would do the same with Gears. I think the rumor of the collection just turned out to be a remake of Gears 1 with Ultimate Edition in 2015 but for some reason people couldn't let go of the rumor.

I agree with what you said. No Gears remastered collection coming anytime soon. Gears of war E-Day is there mainline game, no release date means they going try get it out by late 2025 or late 2026. I am hoping late 2025 maybe. E-Day is great idea to start it from the beginning.
These should be prequels showing what happened all the up until Marcus is caught up for dereliction of duty

Back before the first game. Before they made the chainsaw lancer because that was the only thing that could cut thru Locust skin. The gang is back and younger than ever. Can't wait. I hope it's coming out on gamepass day one and on Xbox one and Xbox series. Just from a lore standpoint they have tons of material they could write for more Gears games going back in time and seeing how all these famous characters evolved. The all fathers etc etc and wars of the past
For the record, both gears 4 and 5 didn’t get a release date when they were announced, so it’s not really surprising to me. Both subsequently released the following year

It’s been 5 years since gears 5 and I think the coalition announced in 2021 they were transitioning to unreal engine 5, so it was going to delay things a bit. But still, that is 3 years since that announcement…what the hell have they been working on all this time?

I would love if this game alternated high action areas with stints of slower paced, atmospheric horror/suspense sections
12:35 Personally, I want to see more pre-bouncing era movement. It would fit with the gritty and brutal atmosphere of the trailer. It would be jarring to see people flying across the map in a game that looks as it does. But even besides that, linear movement that doesn't let you cancel animations provokes and rewards mindful, strategic thought, instead of the mindless bounce movement that has become a standard for skill. No diss to people who have mastered bounce movement and use it effectively, of course.

Most games they showed off was around 2025. The fact that it didn't have a release date makes me believe they aren't comfortable coming out with a expected date and are prepping for a potential delay. Xbox has been burned by many delays so they are probably trying to be proactive

Collection is even more necessary now. Makes sense not to announce both on the same day, especially if it's not ready for release in the next few months.
I’d probably say we’re still getting the collection this year with a beta for eday next year plus gameplay trailers Xbox direct and everything else with probably dropping late 2025 early 2026.

Undead Labs announced State of Decay 3 at an Xbox Games Showcase held on July 2020 - Thus it's totally within the realms of possibility E-Day could be years off .. 2028 wouldn't be out of the question.

If this game is done properly we don't need a collection I feel. But that's unfortunately a big if. It could give us the old vibes with gameplay we've been looking for which could be better than going to an already existing style. But all big ifs. Just hoping for all of us it comes out great all around while giving us the old feels.

I think Gears of War E-Day comes out in April or May 2025 and then they announce Gears 6 in June for a 2026 release.
Honestly they can take 2 years making this game as long as it’s good and great like 2 and 3 i just want gears to come back stronger than ever so the franchise and community stays alive and we can enjoy this game for years like we did 3 💯
Nick baker says it still excist and magg from xnc podcast said in the beginning of this year the collection was being playtested. Credible leakers but always take it with a grain of salt. And maybe gears of war eday doesn't have multiplayer so that is where the collection comes in? Who knows lol
Remember before GoW 4 dropped, TC released GoW Ultimate Edition to show off what the new game would look like and to hold the fans over until then. I think.... hope... this is gonna be a similar situation. E-Day probably ain't dropping until 2026. And I can see TC giving the people a Marcus Fenix Collection next year to tide us over and to show off UE5, just like Ultimate Edition.

I think they are acting on the criticism from the new saga and using E-day to improve things gameplay wise and to boost the popularity of GOW while also pleasing older fans and also using the time to think and plan out gears 6 and correct course in order to get the series back on track. I think they’ve kinda wrote themselves into the gutter and want to take their time with the next sequel so that the story can have a future after gears 5. GOW 4 was terrible story and gameplay wise and felt like a terminator game with all the robots and took away from the dark gritty style gears is known for. Gears 5 was much better and I quite enjoyed it but still left room for much improvement.

Not anytime soon though. E-DAY is a proper Gears entry, not some side project for a support studio. They may even pivot away from Gears 6 for quite a while to do a prequel trilogy if they see enough success with E-DAY.

A prequel is probably the only sensible move they could make, no one would be happy with a remake of 2 or 3 because TC would f#$@ it up, and nobody has faith in gears 6, cus 5 was disappointing. The only issue with a prequel is we all know Marcus and Dom live, so their best bet would be to incorporate a cast of characters who don’t. As far as multiple player, this would be their chance to balance the multiplayer in a way people actually want, and if they succeed, that would be good for gears 6’s multiplayer. Hopefully they succeed with this one.
2026 would make the most sense due to the 20th anniversary of the original game. Perfect contribution to a marketing campaign

My take: I think we get a remaster in the next 6-12 months. IMO, it wouldn’t make sense to release a prequel that leaves players with nowhere to continue the story
