Never swung a Simplex but with elbow and shoulder injuries the ergonomics of the X terra gets to me after 3-4 hours. Watching vids, I like the sound of minelabs better. I would think that Juice summed it up really well.
Love the info. I can also tell pull tab and bottle cap. On the bottle cap my beast gives a small iron sound just before the high tones. And it jumps around and so on. Can tell a lot from just digging them all day, and then you get the feel for what's under the next spot. Deep silver rings now that's the sound I look for . Haha, it's faint but ask you to check. Haha rule 1, you have to walk over it, the rest will follow. So when no hunt I freakin walk. Rule 2 never give up. Love to all

I've got both machines and like them both for different reasons. The ultra swings noticeably lighter, it's one of the lightest machines you can swing right now and after 3 hours that makes a difference. The ultra is noticeably deeper in field mode when I tested it out and there are test videos online that back this up. The ultra is more customizable with more options in tones then the Xterra. On the flip side, the Xterra in Park 2 mode is extremely sensitive to gold so it makes a great Beach detector for that lost jewelry. Unless I go into the wet sand I usually just run it in park two and I have no problems with chatter. It is also a lighter detector overall just not as light as the ultra. But using it for three or four hours for me is not an issue on my arms. And the tones are easy on the ears. Just my two cents.
Well Steve I really appreciate you knowledge brother and taking the time to share it with me 💯 I will be definitely trying out park 2 for sure thanks brother 🤟💯
Thanks for your insight.. I thought long and hard about the purchase of a new modern machine. I went with the Minelab X for getting back into the swing. I really dig the tones on the Minelab machines, and they have been in the biz for years. As you said there are so many variables when detecting and it just comes down to did you get your coil over a good target.
I think one reason I would go with the Ultra is because you can use Bluetooth devices, headphones, earbuds etc, I use the Avantree Torus neck speakers with earbuds exclusively with my Legend, can’t say enough good things about them. Don’t you have a Legend ? I had an Equinox for 4 years spent a lot on extras like shafts etc, it flooded, arm cuff broke a couple of times, coil ears had problems, the new Minelab detectors don’t use Bluetooth your stuck with their headphones etc, I wouldn’t dive wth your Equinox, just asking for trouble. I agree with a lot of what you said about different detectors, just got to put in lots of hours on it and learn the nuances, and get the coil over the target , I enjoy your videos ❤️
Thanks brother and yes I have a legend but it broke on me 😞 and I completely understand about the headphones 💯 one cool thing is my legend headphones work on my Nox so that cool💯 be Blessed brother 🙏🤟🤟
So far the XTP is the only one other than the LONE STAR PRO ( 😢) I can comment on. It’s been great for a simple machine, if I can figure it out anyone can. I have enjoyed your vids with the Simplex Ultra for sure. I don’t think it’s my next step up however the price of the EQ800 is way more $$ than both the SPL-Ultra and the XTP. Thank you for the thoughts Juice definitely get the brain 🧠 to moving!
How's the weight? I've heard the Xterra is sort of heavy compared to the Ultra Simplex? Can you swing the Xterra all day without a sore back, or the Ultra Simplex??
Great video, like what you said on this video. I do not like the tones on the Makro machines . And like the tones on the Minelab machines. Both machines are water proof, and single frequency. When I bought the X Terra Pro the Ultra had not come out yet, but I still don’t like tones on the Ultra. Now is the Ultra the same price as the x terra pro? I’m brand new to metal detecting, and the other day I found a ring, it was not gold or silver but it felt great. The other day I found a car hub cap on the park. Im still happy hunting. I dig everything to find out the numbers on pennies, nickels, quarters, pull tabs, canslaw, gold.or silver.
Dude I thoroughly agree with your opinion on both detectors. I think the key element with both the detectors is time over the soil. Time is the key, dig more targets, gain more information about certain properties in targets, and how you listen for the tones. Great observation Juice....Peace😎⛏️✌️
I love my X-Terra. You are right about the jumpy VDI. But if you use it enough you can learn what the machine is telling you. I have to adjust the sensitivty when in a trashy area. I usually run sensitvity somewhere between 12 and 20 depending on the ground conditions. Also a very deep hitting machine .
I like to think of the bounciness of the XTP is a kind of language that gives you extra info on the texture or shape of the target. Once you figure out a way to understand that language you can mentally figure out what the target is. I’m starting to get used to the bounciness on Australian $2 and 20c coins.
What is the your sensitivity settings for the X-Terra Pro ???? And I have mine set at 12 Sensitivity and I'm finding out that when it's the jumpy VDI and will not lock on a Solid Number then it's going to be a Junk Target And when it bounced a number Or two it's going to be a great target and also a good tone but I do wish that it would be A more Solid id then a number Or two and maybe a update would make it more closer to the actual numbers but I don't have the X-Terra Pro Any Higher than 15 sensitivity and there's plenty of people that have the X-Terra Pro on Full Sensitivity and complain about the jumpy VDI and will not lock in and then they tell the world not to get the X-Terra Pro because of jumpy VDI and They must have a Simplex payment coming up to help sell the Simplex..... 🤔....
@@CanYouDigItMetalDetecting And I was trying to tell the other guy that was having the Jumpy VDI but it RUclips just gave me a General Direction to his name and not a direct message like that It has for your channel and Has it worked out for you on the lower sensitivity and I think it still punches the ground even though it's a lower sensitivity level but I have watched a few video of a guy that has the ability to be at 5 sensitivity on the X-Terra Pro and he is in the tot lots and still getting Targets found.... Trent treasure hunts......I think that's what he is going By.... but I do prefer the X-Terra Pro over any detector that I have owned....
I think tight gridding is a waste of time, unless you hit a patch. Loose gridding allows you to cover more ground. For park hunting I'll meander between areas that I think had a lot of people congreating until I hit a patch. Then I'll spiral out looking for more targets in the patch.
Right on Juicer! I've been over this one small area at least a dozen times. I pulled 3 silver coins outta that same spot yesterday and 1 silver today...the area is about 80 feet square. Still wrhacking copper outta there too and some clad although I don't hunt for clad. Go at it from every direction ya can! If I want clad I'll use my xterra, but I've had my eqx900 and my Legend over the place so many times!!! Always great to watch your vids! Cheers bro!
some people say the simplex shaft wobbles back and forth have you had that issue? im trying to figure out which one will work for me...simplex at least comes with wireless headphones..xterra you have to jump through hoops to get something to work and its expensive so im told
Well Dave I haven’t had any problems with the shaft wobbling but it doe’s probably happen to some people 💯 you know like the Equinox leaking on some and I’ve had mine under water plenty of times and No leaking so I guess it just depends on witch one ya get ya know 💯🤟🤟
But the money that I have found goes into the Funds for the what I want to Buy and it's not coming from my pockets and only from the people that have lost it and that's how I bought the Simplex + Is from the found money and I Had to only use part of my pocket Money to get the X-Terra Pro and it will be paid back in no time and the X-Terra Pro is ALOT cheaper than the Simplex but has more features and it's easier to get use to it and know what it is trying to tell me and the Simplex + would always tell me that there's a Valid Target And I need to dig it up and it's always a iron target masked as a Quarter....
I have a Double Score 2 that has wobble between the handle shaft and middle shaft…several comments online and forums about the shafts having lateral movement btwn that cam-lock joint. I assume the Simplex line of detectors is built on the same 3-piece carbon fiber shaft ‘chassis’ so it would only make sense that some of the Simplex units would have the issue as well. One thing I’ve noticed about the cam-locks on my DS2, the middle to lower coil shaft cam-lock closes tighter and no play whatsoever, than the handle to middle shaft cam-lock.
Juice I didn't know exactly what you were talking about but I still listened . I have never had or used a metal detector. After Jerry was cancer free he wanted me to check into them to see if I could get him one but after looking at prices I knew one wasn't in his future .
