When that episode of Astartes came out, 40K fans were scrambling, trying to figure out what the sphere was, and what the shadow thing was that grabbed at them in the warp.
The Yu'Vath was one of the first ones, along with the Umbra, the living shadows that are thought to be the shards of the Old One Qah, who is the god worshipped by the Hrud.
The guy who created the Astartes animations said that the sphere, the shadow thing, and the xenos psykers were all things he made up, although he had read the book about xenos species by the Inquisition that explains all the weird xenos races.
So he said they weren't Yu'Vath, Umbra, or anything else, but he was probably aware of them.
