Welcome Back!....“So Glad We Made It!”
To see a ticket stub for today’s episode of “New American Bandstand ‘67” taped on Jan. 28, 1967 at ABC TV Center, Hollywood, check out my channel’s “Community” tab. Also posted is an invitation letter for a Nov.’67 taping at Hollywood Palace. Remember, to attend you must be between 14 and 18 years old. Boys must wear a jacket or a sweater with a tie and girls must wear dresses….no pedal pushers, slacks or shorts. Also, no smoking and cameras and the taking of pictures are not permitted! 😊 (letters and tickets are courtesy of Don Sanuskar)
Dancers who were lucky enough to get their ticket and invitation letter for today are: Marcia Silverman in the stands (0:07), Frankie Riggilio (0:24), Danny Lawyer (0:32), A jacketless Mick Tisherman & Robin Morris (0:40), Stan Soburn (0:49), Rick Moreno (0:51), Bernie Kates & Karen Sudlow (1:03), Leslye Vodden (1:08), Martha Favela (1:10), John Pollard (1:20), Famous Hooks (1:26), Frank Vanderpuil (1:42), Dan Snell (1:48), Sandi Apsheen (2:04), a jacketless Jeff Stein (2:22), Deedra Higgins (2:37), Diana Bower (2:46) and Don Sanuskar & Roni Menacker on the riser (1:36)
The U.S. mix of “Gimme Some Lovin’” just entered the charts at #39 last week (Jan. 28) and is at #26 today. It will peak at #7 by the end of February. While 18 year-old lead singer Steve Winwood is the star of the group, they named themselves ”The Spencer Davis Group” because Spencer was the only one that liked doing interviews.
Tomorrow night (Feb. 5) following “The Ed Sullivan Show”, CBS will premiere “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour” starring comedians Tom and Dick Smothers (“Mom always liked you best”) Despite going up against the highly rated “Bonanza” on NBC, the show would become popular among the younger generation thanks to their unusual, subversive comedy style.

Deep inside of me there's still a teenager even though I'm 71years old and nobody can take that away from me, we had great music, great girls, so beautiful that I even married one, and still married to my highschool sweetheart and she's still beautiful in and out. Thank you Lord !♡
I'm a bit younger 10 years but I remember my older sister and brothers dancing, singing!! I sooooo agree!! Those were American carefree music days. We didn't have much but love for our nation, neighbors and music!! 💞
I'm with you ,ime 81 and I stil feel like jiving how can you not when you here this xxxx
Have you heard of Bobby fuller four loves made a fool of you that brings back memories
I still feel like ac teenager too I’m 69 but my mind is stuck at 16.I love the era I grew up in.These songs when I hear them I still want to dance, can’t do much got a bad knee but boy I can I can move good just standing stillGod bless
Right there with you.
Oh how I wish I could travel back to the 60s and just stay there. The very best of times. I really miss those days.
I have said they were the best of times both in music and being young Oh My Those were the days
The greatest... unless you were Black (who did not know your place), Latino/Hispanic, gay, a woman with an unwanted pregnancy, mentally ill, a drug addiction (no one chooses addiction), a war protestor... anyone really, who did not fit the image of "Good American." I lived those years. Great music, great cars, great fashion (unless you were fat, of course), but a great world? No. It's better now, but we still have a lot to achieve to make us a great nation. I can still love the music of the 60s, though...
Poor kids today have so many hang ups. I was 15 years old in 67. A very good time for the most part and we could just enjoy the best music.
This stuff beats the poop out of anything new today!!!!!!!!!
Have you notice how slim everyone was back than???? No video games and no couch potatoes, no cell phone! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
No high fructose corn syrup, chemicals, plastics in food then
We've injected every child with mercury and aluminum the last 50 years chief. Then we dump millions of tons of pesticides into the food. All highly toxic. You're living in a fake world run by Pharma and Big Ag right now.
No junk food
@@alexholland1318 did not eat fast food until I left home at 19. Mom cooked our meals in our home. Never once did Mom say, "Let's go to McDonalds"
People did not live on welfare like they do now. They “buy” whatever they want-sodas, chips, etc. and barter/sell off what they choose. It’s a sad world.
Nothing and I mean nothing can compare to the oldies
👏👏👏
Almost in tears...brought back great memories! My god... look at today...!
@@kurtgeorge5022 I know.

Nice wedding song
Born in '59
Witnessed the 60s
Lived the 70s
Married with children in the 80s thru the 2000s. Now enjoying being a grandfather.
My LIFE story, born in 60
No tattoos or yoga pants!! Refreshing
My granny is at 1:54 with short blonde hair she said when this air she was super excited 🥹🥹and during the dance was the time of her life 🙌🏻🙌🏻 she didn’t know who to dance with until that handsome man took her by the hand and dance ❤❤❤
We had the best generation of music and dancing ever. Life was so exciting and promising for us teens. Wish I could relive it.
Me too
Me too!
I saw them in person profrom while I was station in Germany back in 1967
You just did relive it while you watched this! (me too)
No doubt- kids drop in a music groove here like it is totally casual. And everything
was so bomb then- the styles, the smiles. What a time to be young...
This music will never die.
lol… Nope it sure won’t, this song still makes people get up and move…..timeless
Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end....
We used to dance like that. Good dancing and clean fun. But, the boys didn’t wear suits. That’s just for tv.
@@violetbennett2407 true. I was in high school in the late 70s. School dances were usually held after school so we were still in the clothes we wore that day. No night dances, and school dances didn't occur until high school.
PS I'm in Canada.
Still rockin in 2023.
2024
How I wish I could go back. The world was a far far far better place
Unless you were drafted…
Steve Winwoood was the organist and singer . He was a teenager back then . Hats of to him .
This looks like so much fun.
I used to blast this song from our "record player" back in 1967 and my mom would eventually come in and say "would you PLEASE turn that down"??? I would turn it down for a few seconds and turn it right back up again. Now I've got hearing problems but who cares!!!!!
@community1949...Amen. I got hooked on Dynaco stereo kits, etc. Build them, buy the speakers you can afford, a Gerard 40 mark 2 with manual arm, NOT the automatic one LOL. and a decent cartridge. And, had to go to Philmore West to see those great acts...HUH? What did you say? Thanks for those memories, from Darrell. 😆😇
me 2 and kept playing loud music even today!!
Love the fashions and all the different hairdos
I love how we took pride in how we dressed back then how we looked overall was very important!
Everyone just having fun..🎸🎸🎸🎹🎹😹
Dick Clark made them dress that way.....
Nelson's Rudolph l
They didn't really have a choice if they wanted to get inside the doors to the program!
Melinda Hall who told you that dumb a$$
Look at all of the kids dancing maturely and in structured dance patterns! Wow!
They knew that if they danced well, they'd get on camera.
stuck between the "traditional" dancing and the new more "free form" style
Wow!! Everyone is well dressed, fresh and well groomed!!
From the first beat the song moves your body & soul!! In my top ten for certain!! I’m so glad this song “made it!!”
RIP Spenser Davis. Thank you for your music.
I love how the kids get up from the bleachers when the intro bass line starts up, then when the organs pipes in they're dancing. These kids were into it. And why not? Stevie Winwood was a kid himself when this song was released, just 18 years old then.
This is still one of the greatest songs to get on that floor and cut it up man outstanding music Spencer Davis that was the great-great tunes
It's 1967 all over again I'm looking for my dance partner
I wish it could be like this again. Noting dirty , just clean
fun dancing and having fun.
Those were the good old days. So much fun watching

They got so excited
When they heard it.

So cute then.
Like little dolls.
Best time ever
The best
I was born in 1972, so my peak.music time was 1988-1995.ish.
But the years 1965-1970 wa the peak of pop music and youth culture. RUclips is proving this now.
Awesome
I miss those days. Especially having fun and no health worries
Me too
One good reason to dance : Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme some loving". Steve Winwood at 17 playing organ.
So many folks covered this Song. Olivia Newton-John on her Totally Hot Album 1979, then The Blues Brothers, and it was featured in The Big Chill. Steve Winwood was in his own way the first Blue Eyed Soul Singer in England before George Michael, Ed Sheeran and even Sam Smith. Also "I'm A Man" was featured on Mad Men when Don went to LA To see Megan.
What are you saying?
And singing! A great voice and he was 15 when he joined the group.of course he plays guitar as well! He then headed up Traffic and the next Supergroup of the sixties - Blind Faith wit Clapton, Gretch and of course on drums Ginger Baker.
And singing.......a great takent
When Stevie came in with that big bad B-3 Hammond, you knew the place was going to be hopping. Loved this tune since 67.
Kicking song still today..Mr. Steve Winwood
My time our music 14 in 67 now 66 this month.the best music ever.
Loved and still love this. I am 65 and we were lucky to have been in this generation.
If this song doesn't make you want to get up and dance, have yourself declared legally dead!
Me too Sam. Wouldn't be one day younger!
Sam Decaro yeahh give some lovin
I was 8 back then but remember so many of these songs. loved abs
when people danced! Loved that show!
Jeff K Harpo Harpo absolutely!!!
GO!!! 60's WOW !!! what a dance record !!!. The beat is phenomenal and was back then as well. Still a fantastic record !!!
My high school band covered this in 1967. When we played it we were wild with excitement.
One of the most distinctive intro's ever, and when that organ kicks in you know it's gonna be good. I liked it then but didn't realise how much I would still like it 55 years later.
"...conceived, arranged, and rehearsed in just half an hour". - Wikipedia. WOW!
Got to see Spencer live twice. This is one of the all time best dance songs.. It kicks butt
Two really short kids! Cool. Very diverse crowd. A mixture of styles of hair and clothes. Amazing.
I mention in the comments Disco Teen from New Jersey, give it a look.
I believe vertically challenged is the politically correct term.
Great song.....it never really gets old.
Oh yes the good old days. AND the music was great 😊
Classic 60's Rock n roll. ...❤🎶🎶🎵💙 🇺🇸
Great song. Just great
I grew up in the 80s but this is the music I was raised on thanks to my parents and I’m so thankful for that. Still love it!
I also grew up in the 80's and we rocked in the 80's which now define one of the greatest decade. I listen to this music from this era. Another good era of music. Too bad we had the Johnson war (Vietnam War)
A six year old first grader watching this and couldn't wait until I became a teen so I could go out dancing like the big kids!
They knew how to have fun while enjoying great music
Thomas Downs Yes they did!
And l was one of them best years of my life!
i just feel like dancing with them the whole night long
@sugar love Feel free to dance along! Go for it!
I feel the same way, the song is great for dancing to the beat :)
No doubt...
Nice wedding song
@@leighthomas8474 perfect!
Brings back so many great memories of my senior year in high school! I am still a teenager when I hear this music !
Completely different world and times. Anybody got a Time Machine? I’d rather relive these times .
Pick me up in Charleston,WEST Virginia. I'm ready to go back and stay.
Takes me right back to 1967! Another tune that made me get up and MOVE! Remember Owen Love?
My parents we're in the class of '67-'68 Mission High San Francisco when this hit the charts.
ONE of my favorite shows growing up
AHHH , if we could turn back time ! Will always remember my teen years , they were the best !!!
If it helps. You can take your clock and move time backward. I was not born, and I love it. My era also had great music.. There is so much positive energy on the dance floor. I take a cruise with my car at Big Sur with this music, and I wish it was the 60s and 80s music. Peace to all. Anyone out there from the 60s. Please let me hear you out there.
I love watching these

WISH WE HAD IN 2023 A TV DANCE PROGRAM LIKE AMERICAN BANDSTAND…………
Hard to believe that Steve Winwood was only 16 when this Song came out. He was next to Joe Cocker one of the First Blue Eyed Soul Singers along with Tom Jones to come out of The UK.
Cool. Thats interesting. Never knew he even sang that song until you mentioned it but that's him alright.
Steve Winwood still going strong.
@@66impala71 Can you imagine how much "Bank" he made off of The Big Chill & The Blues Brothers and Chicago did I'm A Man on The UK Music Show The Beat Club. Also he made "Bank" off of Mad Men when Don Draper went to Los Angeles to visit Megan. Also Olivia Newton-John did "her" version on The Totally Hot Album after Grease was released.
Such a great one to dance to!!
AB was a show I looked forward to everyday after school when they were in Philly as well as every Sat. afternoon from Cali.. 66 now. Where has the time gone?
These videos make me want to learn how to swing dance. I’m 56 and want to feel young again!
I was one month old when this aired, I hope I was watching!
Steve Winwood - he's still rockin'
That was a good song to dance to
Thanks to Steve and his brother uff Winwood!!!
Steve Winwood's vocals make this song. He was just a kid when he sang this.
Dance shows on TV are where it's at! They need to come back!
Steve Winwood was only 17 when they recorded this.
misterjag absolutely amazing
The intro to this song is truly outstanding .🧐
Look at how happy they were in those days to be happy. Being happy was cool!
High school graduation year. The best times ever!
Here we had a touch of Heaven on earth for a short while ! ! !
When I watch these clips, I am transported back to those Saturday mornings - I get the same anticipation and excitement. The styles come back to me, and in my mind's eye, I can see my older brother and sister getting ready for school.
I was 4💕 watching American bandstand with my big brother and sisters, my mom. Didn't have to worry about songs with swearing ect used to dance with my big brother ,told him I was going to be on American bandstand and then he would see me on tv 😊
We opened every show with this song. Nothing sounds like a B-3.
I love this!
Yes I'll be 61 in January I love this kind od music I like oldies
I bet who ever was watching A.B that Saturday afternoon had the TV blasting to this song. I would probably dancing in front of the TV if I was a teenager in 1967.
I did and I was! :)
hey! Hey! Hey!... anybody gots a Time Machine in their back pocket here love to "go back & relive" but then
