kevin is one of my favorite members in the group as a musician myself i love my beat-makers and kevin is just that good at making beats when its just coming from his mouth his fast drum progressions is just mouth-dropping like in the 2nd verse for example and the synchronization with the cello is just surreal and he's still learning new things which is why kevin still to this day is one of my favorite beatboxers of all time
Even people as perfect at singing as them will be slightly off on a note at times. Like in this performance it wasn't all absolutely spot on. They likely used a bit of autotune or pitch correction software to make sure the notes were completely accurate.

Watching this in 2023. First, they are still amazing when they perform this number. It’s only gotten better as thier voices have matured. Second, I’ve been a PTX fan for years, and this might be the only time I’ve ever heard Mitch ‘mess up’. ❤❤❤
thats cuz hes doing the overtone, singing two notes at once. if you listen closely you hear the top note that sounds a bit different that actual singing, thats him singing his note and creating that ringing note on top
@@cherie914 He's just singing one note... The high note is an off harmony of the voice. Overtones are easy, but he's a master with a lot of training. But, he messed up the melody, that's why he was with that face.
I just wonder if Kevin have to make a Beat boxing sheets for himself because if not, he must be a real beatbox monster to be able to remeber all the combination he has made for all Pentatonix song!! And I didn't think that Scott is the one that hit the high note :). Cost him a red face :)))).

I love this version more than the studio version, because I crave to see how Kevin & Avi are hitting their notes, esp. with the syncopated percussion and double-voice interlude, and you get that here. In fact, the balance is a bit off b/c you don't hear Mitch properly, as you do in the studio vid. ...and that's a crime, because what Mitch does with this tune is just out of this world! What I'd MOST love to do is see 'em do it live. For now, I'll just have to settle for watching bootleg vids by fans.... :-)

Even being an audience recording & what sounds like a blown-out speaker (lol, thx avi?) ... their performance of this at the Star Vista in Singpore from like 5+ yrs ago, I must have listened to hundreds of times now. Have been singing my entire life & THAT.... has to be the absolute best timed, emoted, performed & unique sounding thing I've EVER EVER heard or witnessed. Just... stellar talent & teamwork there. I mean, Mitch, phew... where to even begin?! The hair on my head tingles every time I listen to that performance. I know, however, it takes every single one of 'em... to make it sound that great! One of the reasons that they're so fantastic is the way their beatboxer and bass synergize. And then those overtones. I'll need to practice a lot for my overtones to reach that level.
