Thank you for posting a new vlog so soon. You are introducing me to a completely new world. My favorite type of pizza is mozzarella cheese--either thin crust or thick crust!

Haha so dental students at a few others schools integrate with the medical schools mostly in order to have a better clinician background. Although I love Dr. Bernd and her dermatome dance😂 I did feel that learning all the muscles in your feet and butt weren’t really relevant to dental practice but the head, neck, back, shoulders and arms all play a huge role for us!

Thank you for sharing so much detail about your experience in med school so far! This video makes me want to attend Columbia but my stats are nowhere near the perfection they're known for, so we'll see. I'm interested in MD/PhD long term with a focus in neuroscience research, and would love to see more content related to your cadaver experience. I really like your take on that with respecting the human body and the lives that led to what you are now learning from. Looking forward to more content!

Just came off an internship at Columbia Med this past summer & what I can tell you coming from admissions directors and deans themselves is to not get too hung up on the stats. Obviously grades are important, but Columbia Med really looks into the humanity of you as a person - will you be able to care for their diverse patient population in the impoverished neighborhood of Washington Heights that you’d be living in for at least 4 years of med school?, will you be able to collaborate effectively with your class and add value in some type of capacity (since Columbia Med is known for having a LOT of clubs/extracurricular opportunities)?, can they see you as their future physician while they’re interviewing for their school? The grades are going to be important at any school, but from what they said, they deep dive into an applicant’s mindset/drive as well. For this past cycle, they’ve accepted MCAT scores from 506-528 and GPAs from 3.3-4.0 which tells you that it’s definitely possible & they wanted to stress that. Some even told me that they look extra hard at the 4.0/528s because it could be construed as no struggle/might’ve taken easier classes to boost grades/GPA (not all cases and obviously perfect score applicants work extremely hard, just another perspective that some may view it from). Hopefully this message helps a bit and good luck! I’ll be applying to Columbia Med also during Fall 2024.

@@j.calixteii2558 Thank you for providing such great insight! This is all really helpful. I entered college from a disadvantaged academic background and had completed the equivalent of 6th grade prior to entering freshman year. To say that I had a transition shock would be an understatement. My strengths in the humanities showed with a 3.8 average in those courses, but my math and science background was near 0, so those courses really suffered with a 2.6 average. I'm in a post-bacc to help boost it now that I've figured out the importance of drilling questions, but may not get to even a 3.0 sGPA after all the courses I've taken. Good luck as you prep for your application cycle! You sound like a competitive candidate so I'm sure you'll do well.
