Her music wasn’t anything grandiose to begin with, she had one good year in 2018 due to the industry along with the general public desperately wanting a new female rapper at the top regardless of talent, and then in 2020 she managed to comeback with wap, but that was purely down to shock factor if we wanna be real. Everything after that has been a downward spiral, and there’s been no showcase of any artistic growth in her music at all, despite her career not even making it to a full decade
She terrified especially since PF2 sold well, the tour sold out with expensive tickets. She feels the need to keep up with Nicki someone who can write their own music without having to wait until ghost writers are available, then she has to memorize the ghost writers song lol.

Cardis run was beautiful. I even would often say I desire to have a "cardi year" because she came up so quick.
Do I believe she deserve success. Of course, I wish for everyone to strive to be their best selves. However cardi is not her best self in music, it was her stepping stone to wealth. She will always have opportunities. I do believe she bit off more than she can chew being confident she was #1. Her not writing her rap automatically disqualifies her as a rapper. IMO, the 2 things that railroaded her career are 1. her beef with Nicki Minaj and 2. Offset.
1. Deciding to beef with Nicki has made EVERYTHING she does comparable to her, which kinda sets her up for failure. At this point, Cardi can’t flop because she’ll never live down the pressure from the Barbz…I sometimes think Cardi didn’t realize how much she had to live up to being compared to THEE Nicki Minaj. People compare Cardi’s sophomore album situation with SZA’s. But both sides are different.
The singles that SZA has dropped years before the release of SOS, have been consistently doing well, especially on streaming.
Meanwhile after WAP and UP, Cardi’s singles have been underperforming. Not to mention that newer female rappers like Sexxy Redd and GloRilla have been taking the spotlight recently. At this point of female rap, Nicki and Cardi have pretty much become catalysts for these girl’s uprising, whether it be beefing with them or even collabing with them.
No body can outqueen Nicki in terms of being a rap queen that’s a fact. Buuuut Cardi had the potential to be one of the most streamed or rapper with most sales. But I guess now we’ll never know.
