Great video as usual Mr Crampton. It's a good job Lance initially cleaned the car in your presence and the defects were spotted. If it had been cleaned prior to collection and you took it straight away to have it wrapped , it may have been some time before the defects came to light.
Hi Barrie -Yes I have kink - same place as yours - I also have another where the metal bends round on the passenger side - so that's one more kink than the standard model and i didn't have to pay any extra.
I would Definitely advise selling the Ami and swapping for a Twizzy instead as they go 50mph and have a 50 mile range or 60 if your careful on the gas pedal and they are fun similar to driving a motorbike
Ive tried the Twizy, I really like the Ami, i dont need it to go any faster or any further, my average speed on m y drive to work and back is 15 mph, whether I am in my Ami or an AMG 63
@@BarrieCrampton Cheers and sorry for the late reply Barrie i only just seen this comment now when rewatching the video hope you and your family have a Merry Xmas 😀
no i was assigned that car with the chassis number months before i got it, but there was a production delay, it only had a few miles on it, and im the first owner
Get rid and buy a small runaround cheap preferably diesel but there are good miles per gall petrol ones and run into the ground for work purposes you being in motor trade can find one long before you get the Ami fixed
I’ll stick with my RR sport SDV6 Dynamic Barrie thanks , but can tell your gutted about the Ami!!! And I feel your pain mate, great watch, and I do look forward to your videos, thank you👍
Hi Barrie, You are stuck in limbo until Citroen make an official response. I guess you would have thought about bargaining with them. Maybe on the outcome of an independent vehicle inspection, if it is 'just' cosmetic some deal and if not return/refund. Maybe get the price of door plastic repair and vehicle wrap ready and get things done yourself if they will pay, otherwise could be long wait for any Citroen repair offer. I was one of the people who did have a very longstanding order that I canceled. Now I'm watching from the sidelines and occasionally think of buying a dealer demonstrator Ami, as at least you know they exist/what they are like.
Hi Barrie, not caught up yet with all your vids regarding this thing. I can't get my head around why you bought this heap of plastic junk? Am i missing something with you hating electric vehicles? I spotted one of these at my local dealers today and the the plastic body is absolutely awful. looks like its made from recycled yogurt pots. Plastic doesn't like changes in temperature. it expands and shrinks which might explain your concern with the doors. I build cars for a living and i would be more concerned with those mig welds you showed on that roof bar rather than the kink. I bet if those mig welds were chisel checked then they would fail. Plastic and batteries don't mix well when they catch fire. Hand it back and stick with your RR 👍
Looking at the build quality it does seem that the Ami is mostly hand made and hand welded. No robot welders. Made in Morocco, does anyone know if this is so? It would explain the differences in sizing, weld quality, assembly, etc.
There will have to be serious improvements in the Ami team for me to consider a purchase now ... but I do like them, its just unfortunate.. I will be keeping my Smart 450 going .. 17 years on now and still going, strong it may see me out 🫣 Just thought the Ami would be a nice vehicle for me for what I do at my age, but i couldn't suffer the stress 🙂.... I still love seeing them nice vid ,Barrie 🙏
Wonder when Fiat starts selling their Topolino version if Fiat will up the build quality and maybe install more automation in the build process. The Ami very much seems to be a more human hand made process from cutting the steel, bending it to welding and assembly. To me, Ami/Topolino should be mass produced in their hundreds of thousands as an ideal low cost town car, especially with all the 20/30mph zones they are putting into our towns.
@BarrieCrampton Yes, I believe so, but what I have seen of the Fiat is that it has no doors and a cloth roof, so that's no good for the UK and the Opel will not be available in the UK at all .. so it's not looking great at the moment 😕 .. things may change in the future 🤷♂️
Honestly it looks like a miserable box to me lol. We'll all be forced to be driven by something like this in 20-40 years so enjoy Range Rovers while you still can.
Well done Barrie .. too bloke 👍
cheers

Yep definitely, im at a loss to what has caused it because it doesnt seem to be getting any worse
Liking the reed diffuser air freshener, what a great idea
It's so good!

Been following your channel for a couple of years now i think that you should consider selling these when they start to appear on the used market.

Last time I saw windows like that was in a 2CV , which I had about 40 years ago.
Yellow Maestro van!
Good spot!
@@BarrieCrampton I've had a soft spot for Maestroes since I had one as a company car in the mid-80s. 36,000 miles in 16 months. Brilliant car.

How many miles did the car have on when you picked it up? Part of me wonders if someone has already rejected it...
