- Welcome to my biggest adventure yet, where I tackle the 230km Larapinta Trail East to West from Alice Springs over 17 unforgettable days.
This is DAY 2 from Wallaby Gap to Mulga Camp. I start the day late having slept in a bit longer than expected! It's the longest 'planned' day of my trip, although I end up doing some longer days later in my adventure. I simply did not expect this part of the trail to be so beautiful and after spending the morning walking through the gentle green undulating Bloodwood Flats and seeing some real fairies at Fairy Spring, I then complete Section 1 before continuing on through to Mulga Camp. By the time I am passing Arenge Bluff, the sun is starting to set and I am equally concerned about arriving in camp in the dark as I am enchanted by hiking in the beautiful dusk.
The HIKER SERIES of videos are designed more for the hiker in mind and includes more track and condition details, plus any relevant observations or tips from my experience on the trail. They also include the aesthetic highlights just to provide a complete picture of my experience.
If you like this video, please press ‘like’, leave a comment or subscribe - it all helps my channel and would be really appreciated.
See further videos in this series for:
• Loadouts and a follow up after I completed the trail
• Feature film which aggregates all the many highlights from my adventure. If I don't say so myself, it's a simply beautiful video.
The adventure was split as follows and a video will be released for each day:

Enjoying the videos! 😊
Glad you’re enjoying them!
Your resilience and determination are inspiring. Can’t wait to see Day 3
Thanks Ana. You kind of have to be when you’re out there. No one else is going to finish it for you or carry your pack (alas!)
This series is filling in my Sunday afternoon very nicely. 😁
I bet - thanks for watching and commenting
I loved this one as well. What an amazing adventure!
It was amazing indeed
Great videos mate. Can’t wait to see the rest! I’m starting my trek in 20 days 👌
Thank you - enjoy your trek. It’s fantastic
Looked like a big day mate, especially once you add in dealing with the heat
Definitely - and the bl@#dy flies!
Loving the videos Alex. Easy watching. Have suscribed so as not to miss the rest.
Your anxiety and nervousness was nice to see in that it makes it so much more personal, and i imagine i will feel very much the same when i getb there next year.
2 questions if i may:
- When sleeping under the stars, was your gear wet in the morning?
- What were you filming with? A GoPro?
Thanks GJ. I appreciate your comments and subscription!
Yes, I did get some dew on my quilt in the mornings but my down is treated so it did not impact the warmth. The moisture soon evaporated once the sun came out.
I used 2 GoPros for most of the footage and an iPhone 15 for close ups (GoPros are not good for these) and the night time star pictures.
