Again! Russia Destroys 5 Ukrainian SU-27 Fighter Jets

- The war in Ukraine has seen both countries targeting each other's crucial assets. On July 2, Russia announced the destruction and damage of Ukrainian SU-27 fighter jets at the Myrhorod airfield in Poltava.
A Russian surveillance drone identified six exposed SU-27s at the airfield. Without protection like camouflage or bunkers, the jets became easy targets. Russia then launched cluster rockets and Iskander-M missiles, resulting in the destruction of five active SU-27s and damage to two under repair. Aerial footage showed explosions and smoke at the airfield.
Ukraine's former Air Force speaker Yuriy Ignat confirmed the strike but accused Russia of exaggerating the damage. Forbes' David Ax noted that six SU-27s were targeted, with two destroyed and four damaged. Regardless of the exact number of the damage, the situation raises questions: how could Ukraine be so careless as to leave these fighters parked in an open space, making them such easy targets?

From Ukraine's standpoint, a dumb and unnecessary war gets more so everyday. I think that Zelinsky and crew know it is very unlikely that Ukraine will gain back territory lost. So why would they not go to the settlement table to stop the death and destruction ? Zelinsky and crew know that the end of the war brings an end to martial law. And with that Zelinsky and crew lose control of the Ukrainian government and military.
Why would you go back to entering another agreement with Russia when their last denuclearization and reduction of Ukraines military with the assurance Russia wouldn’t invade Putin threw out the window and invaded anyway?
Because they are our puppet, and the political backlash in America would be massive - especially during an election year. Best to drag it out until the American and EU public can be distracted by something else.

Should this sort of policy continue it will certainly not assist the German economy. You are also paying a very high penalty for losing your cheap energy supply from the Russian Federation. Awesome! At 0:05 is a Su-24M2; not often seen as it is still in service but quite old by modern standards. However with FAB guided bombs, RU could use an Il-2 Sturmovik and its would be just as effective.
The older craft are being converted to UAVs in Chna, I imagine we'll see the same done for older soviet craft.

It seems pretty incredible the Ukraine has a straight piece of tarmac road these days, let alone a functioning airbase. Neutral observers might wonder why a single brick of a Kiev controlled airbase building is still standing on another. Counter wise, it does look like the Ukrainians were begging for their planes to be hit, which suggests they were replicas of some sort. Either way, I would not expect NATO planes to last very long when they are delivered. They have never operated against a tier 1 defence strategy and the Americans took fearful losses when they flew against North Vietnam. Both side in the war do very strange things.
Iraq and Afghan wars were not compatible with western technologies. In Ukraine they are facing real technological threats, lot western tanks including M1 A1 Abrahams were destroyed. Drone technology is something different because mostly radar can’t detect such a small target and neutralize. That’s the problem and drone destruction is awesome. Accuracy destruction just under 500$ price tag.
It's more comparable to compare US losses in GW1 and against Serbia than in Vietnam. Vietnam completely changed air warfare with the development of stand off weapons.
@@MartinMcAvoy if you're saying it's "incredible" that Ukraine still has a maintained airfield, you're admitting that Russia has properly demonstrated it's capability in striking every square meter of Ukraine. This is not a new airfield, so it's always been there but Russia did not strike it until now. I think it's more plausible to suggest that they pick and choose what targets to strike depending on political and tactical factors, like the 4th of July (to make a statement to the US) or the fact that these aircraft were also being prepared and maintained for use on the airfield.
Also, good tarmac needs costly maintenance. That cannot be a replica.
@@wolfswinkel8906 In the Falklands, the first target the RAF his was the airfield at Stanley. It seems to be a standard operating policy of most military plans to mash airfields and keep them mashed. In ww2 a lot of attention is given to the strategic operations of the 8th air force but the 9th was constantly engaged in hitting German airbases. On the video not only were the planes lined up neatly but the surrounding area looked well cared for, like it was golf course, when after 2 years it should be a moonscape. Truth is the first casualty of war and I don't know what to believe, anymore.
The fact that that drone is just chilling in the air and filming from that up close above an airfield should be their biggest worry.
And they want f22s to park them in an open field.

@@jackclements2163 It is not beneficial for Russia to make peace right now. Russia has not yet taken Odessa. This is a key city and the last port of Ukraine on the Black Sea. If Russia leaves Odessa as part of Ukraine, this could in the future provide a NATO base in the Black Sea with a flight path of NATO nuclear missiles a few minutes from Moscow. I think that the Russians have not yet done everything they wanted...

@@Rob-vv5ynthe concept of underground bunkers is not new concept to Ukraine, they have massive caverns in the salt mines of Soledar which were used for the storage of several armored brigades. With little effort they could've been converted into air bases but you know how entrenched Ukrainian corruption is.

They don’t have any where to park them, the limited number of hangers are used for maintenance and aren’t bomb proof. Plus you can see everything by satellite, the drone was probably sent to precisely target the aircraft after they are spotted by satellite.
