    I have to tell you, I was so happy to see that you left your mistakes in the video!!! I consider you a professional. The fact that you too, make mistakes, is so refreshing. I really made mistakes on a market bag I sewed yesterday, and was so frustrated! I was telling myself "Christine would never have done that!" But this morning I was watching this video and was so shocked when you screwed up on the corners! Ive been sewing for 50+ years. I guess I'm allowed to still make mistakes!! Thank you SO much for your channel! I count you a friend. ❤

      haha, that's so lovely Lisa. I make mistakes in almost every project, and even though I've been sewing just as long, I would never consider myself a professional. There's still so much to learn, and although it's frustrating, mistakes are the best teacher you could have.
      It's funny, I used to think it was unprofessional to have mistakes in my videos so wouldn't include them. Once I discovered people like them, I tend to leave more in. I'm just a middle aged gal that sews😀

    Christine I want to thank you so much for doing what you do and how you do them. I don’t have a store or design studio as so many of u tubers do. I do this for fun and because I love doing it. I am disabled and stay at home all the time so this makes time go by and makes me happy. Most of all thank you for sharing your designs and not charging for the patterns. Bag making and crafting isn’t cheap. The bags that are made by a lot of the bag makers are beautiful but even the hardware they use is expensive. Love you channel and enjoy watching you so much. Can’t wait to try this project.

    Great bag I use this method for using scraps alot . For handles I often sew a handle in cotton and thread the wrapping handle inside - that way get strength of strapping but colour of bag. I have both black and white strapping depending on colour of fabric using. Also love this method too

    I was teaching some people how to make tote bags several years ago. One lady cut out the squares for the boxed bottom on the top of the fabric. Since the fabric was directional, I told her to just cut that part off the top and then, cut the corners out of the bottom. It would just make the bag a little smaller. She was so happy, that the solution was so easy and I didn't scold her for her mistake. We all make them.

    I think it's great. I've done this myself. I've sold many bags/totes made like this. I did, however, mark a 45° angle on my stabilizer. I tried without and my strips started to straighten themselves 😅. I've had other bags more organized and took forever to sell. You just never know. I've done this type of construction for children's car totes. Pockets for crayons, room for things to do in the car. They can hang over the front headrest for easy reach. Your bag was so adorable. Your label looks like pretty baubles, bag hardware pretties. ❤😊

    Christine. Once again it's 'catch-up' time for me. Leading up to Xmas I was sewing lots of strips onto foundation fabric then cutting it up into different items (phone bags, xmas stockings, coasters, tote bag etc) so I've missed out on quite a few video's including yours. I could see what you intended to do with your curved seams but I think it worked out better with boxed corners when using strips; not so bulky. Hope all is well with you and you have a busy New Year 2024 in your shop 🥰

      I was so confused on why you cut the corners after rounding them. It's funny how we catch ourselves selves like that then roll with it. Looks great!

    Love this bag. Would it be a good idea to cut the lining slightly smaller than the bag fabric so it sits down inside easily? Pauline. UK.

      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it would Pauline. The other option would be to topstitch a little further down. I think I was too close to the top😀

    Lovely bag.. Christine, on your machine, are you controlling the reverse stitch with the foot pedal? 🥰

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Sue. I have the machine setup so it does a backstitch at the beginning, then when I finish and heel back on the foot pedal it also does the backstitch. There is also a red button just above the needle bar that I press to do reverse when I need to😀

    Very Nice bag Christine, how much would your bag sell for in your store? Also do you sew with leather scraps.

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Barb. Because it's so cute, I might put $55 on it in the shop and see how it goes. Might encourage me to make more. I haven't had leather to sew, only vinyl samples. If I get any, I'll do a video😀

    Love this little bag and I'll definitely be giving this a go. I just wanted to mention that the link you provided for the Peltex is a fusible one but you used a non fusible one in the video. Do you have a link for a non fusible Peltex?

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Crafty Owl. I've just checked the link which is for Matilda's Own bagbatting (even though I keep calling it Peltex). It does actually say it's non fusible in the title on my website. If you're ordering it from there, you'll only receive the non fusible as they don't make a fusible. I used to keep Peltex which was iron-on but I haven't been able to source it for a while😀
