On the electric bill, you can calculate the average yourself and then stuff that so you build up your envelope over winter for the higher bills in the summer. That’s what I do.

I was just coming to say the same thing. I do this as well. I am the opposite that our bills are way higher in the winter than the summer being from Michigan.

I have never heard of electric companies doing that, BUT gas companies definitely do!! My parents pay a flat rate for oil and they get their tank filled whenever they need, then they settle up at the end of the year. Probably more helpful when you live up north like we do though!

Bummer that your electric company doesn't off a budget plan. But you can still budget it yourself and add extra every month to an envelope or even better a HYSA (and get some interest), especially now that the bill should be getting lower AND especially now that you have extra money having paid off your Hospital Bill! WOO HOO!
Hey, you could even make an Electric Bill tracker to save for the summer months. It could have cute light bulbs and suns!😃

Hi! The gas and electric company I have (I’m in California) has a program for lower income customers where it takes off 20% of the bill each month.
Not sure if your gas x electric company has a program like this. But definitely check their website because they definitely don’t advertise these types of programs. Hope you can find something to help!

I pay 350 a month no matter what. That way when it’s higher the credit on the account takes care of the overage

In Iowa they do Budget Billing Program for Electricity

I took my yearly average for gas/electric and divided it by 12. It ends up being about $300 a month. For months where it’s under 300 I pay the bill and put the difference in a high yield savings account to accrue interest for months where it’s over 300

If you have church in your area you should call and see if they can help with your electric bill they pay for some if they do it in area if that helps
