I am in Tangier atm & visited the cemetery a few days ago. There is someone around by the entrance most of the opening hours & he was very welcoming & spoke pretty good English.

you are realy surprise me with that interesting and beautiful video. i like it thoses made hand on the walls and all that decoration, the magic cemetery too it's courageous well done realy thanks.
This is the "old" Jewish cemetery. There is another one which is located also downtown in the so-called road To Rabat. In both cemeteries, graves are Virgen both in Hebrew and in Spanish, as almost all tangerine Jews were sefardies, i.e. descendents from Spanish Jews who had been expelled from Spain in 1492 by the Catholic kings. There are a few small errors in the video: the present Jewish population in Tangier is of about 50 To 100 individuals, from about 25000 at the end of the 1950s. Something else: their migration was not only to the USA, Israël and France and Spain, but most particularly to Canada, Venezuela and Argentina. Another "small" détail : there were about 20 or 25 synagogues in thé golden years in Tangier, many of them were located in thé Street of the Synagogues. There is one left downtown, the Bendrihem synagogue, on main street, Boulevard Pasteur. More information concerning the ancient Jewish Tangerine population can be found on the Internet, on RUclips and on Facebook.
dont say arab country please, the 83% of Moroccan population feels offuscated when we hear this, in addition to your information, Morocco seeked many times to belong to a group, Morocco asked to join the EU before spain (google it) we were rejected we tried other orientations, but as the word was fancying blocks, Morocco become a full member of the Arab league based on the muslim shared faith, so here you go, when you speak about morocco talk about our Amazigh true nature, the Arab one is by adoption :-) Judaism was the first Abrahamic religion in Morocco next to pagan, Islam came centuries later after many failed wars, google Kahina the berber queen, you will understand better ;-)
So what that doesnt make us separated from our muslim brothers. Are you seeking to break us or what?? I amazigh btw, but I hate it so much when you try to use our identity to separate us from our brothers. Jews are welcomed. Of course NO ZIONISM
