Dude, that was _super_ impressive...so many people are (understandably) stuck on Legendary, or sometimes Mythic, difficulty speedruns, but it's refreshing to see something done on Easy difficulty knowing that it takes just as much effort and precision, despite less tough enemies. I wasn't expecting those clips AT ALL. 😅 And the melee lunges were brilliantly done. Congratulations! Twenty years old, and people are _still_ breaking records left and right... 🤯
I got a 325 on stream the other day, then decided to give it a short grind off stream last night. Its easier to grind when I can just throw some entertainment on in the background and take breaks between runs more often compared to streaming.
It does. It saves about 2.5 seconds over English on this level. Right after you clear hangar 2, you have to wait for dialogue while the Athens blows up. Those lines finish slightly faster on Japanese, so the door opens faster.
@@afanoflafear Audio recordings take up a lot of space on the original discs, so they were shipped with audio files from one language. Some of these audio files are longer or shorter, and if the completion of those playbacks are linked to a trigger, the trigger will hit earlier or later on some languages. In general, German, French, and Japanese are the advantaged languages depending on the level you're playing and the skips you're using. Chinese is one second faster on Gravemind but its so hard to get a Chinese copy that people just take the time loss. Really, the effect is small anywhere other than Armory which is almost totally dependent on these dialogue triggers. For the fullgame without Armory, as we run it now, the best possible language saves less than 15 seconds over the worst possible language. There are also language-specific dialogue bugs that can skip dialogue triggers, I know one on Japanese version Armory that saves time with like a 12% chance, but not as much as French dialogue, which works every time. Some levels like Delta Halo have no dialogue dependent triggers and so are as fast on any language version. Lastly - This doesn't work on Halo 2 Anniversary. If you co-op online with someone running a different version and the triggers operated differently it could desync, so they normalised it. This means for Anniversary runs, any language is equally fast. But Halo Vista doesn't have this normalisation so it is still language-dependent, which leaves it in a weird middle-ground since it is 60/s physics tick rate like anniversary. But Vista is awful and generally so much slower that it won't be worth it. So I'm only aware of anyone running Vista for one "level" and that is Armory, which nobody cares about anyway.
@@afanoflafear A bit harder to do for Halo 2 since this was before you could change the language via a menu in the game. Each language for games back then had their own disc. Mono does do this from time to time though, since he owns Halo 2 in every language lol
@@MisterMonopoliYou'll have to forgive people like this. Trust me, people are going to discredit you in any way they can even for stupid reasons... When I was learning oracle Id use normal difficulty for alot of my run strats so I could learn to be more consistent on legendary and people used to call me trash. But these are the same people who cant get through the game on legendary half the time... I wish people would be more understanding about the game before making comments trying to discredit people.

Melee lunge then shotgun blast to kill is the coolest way to maintain momentum.
I got so gappy when i saw this on my feed. I love that you are still speedruning this game. Keep it up!
Man, this was such a great game.
the goat is back
aww man, did this really not happen on stream? bummer... congrats Mono! looking forward to your Cairo history vid

woah I gotta play this in a different language, definitely brings different new life to the game
Nice world record.
Please tell me that playing with the japanese dub shaves off some dialogue time haha

@@MisterMonopoliinteresting, I always thought runners would change the language during game play as a break from the norm.

Nice. Is there a reason you don't upload records to Haloruns any more?
2:00 big time loss /s
wonderful
Aww yeah!!
Yeeeesss although it's cooler with the splits and cam i think
Is this done on halo 2 cartographer? Or OG xbox? or vista? or another emulator Im not familiar with?
OG game on Xbox 360
I can do that
Here hold my controller
Does running into the box work on MCC?
No. Classic only.
This was insane lol
🤯🤯🤯
What happens when you repeatedly walk into the box? Does it just disable collision for some time?
Shrinks the hitbox and as it reverts it allows you to walk through thin walls if I remember right.
@@ShadySummerZ i thought it displaces it (shifts it to the side)
@@zucinnied could be. I dont remember been 4-5 years since I ran the game.
Can’t see the point of doing it on easy?
Because its faster and this is a speedrun. I also have the record for this level on legendary.

Doesnt work, yuo got cheats on!
If you're talking about the trick where I walk through the wall at the start, it only works on the original version. It doesn't work on MCC
